Anyone went through Florida Hosp. GN program?
I would like to hear from anyone that went through the GN program at Florida Hospital. How did you like it, did you feel it made your transition from new grad to nurse more smooth? How do you like working for FH? Any recommendations or help would be appreciated. Thank you

Charlotte Regional Medical Center Drug Testing
Thanks for the info. it seems that the pay in Fl is very low compared to other states, esp. for a new nurse. But the job market is so bad right now, I am willing to take anything, get the experience and then move on. Florida Hospital in Orlando is another place that I am interested in, do you know anything about the quality there? Thanks again, and best of luck to you

Now that you have worked a few months at Charlotte Regional, how do you like it? I have an interview there soon and would like some input. What is starting pay for a new nurse? How are the benefits? Do they train you well and is it a nice place to work? THanks for all the help

New RN
I am in the same boat as well. I graduated Dec.09 and still no job. I go on the web everyday and look all over the country and apply to jobs to no avail. Just recieve rejection emails. It's extremely frustrating and I think the only way to get a job, is to literally get lucky and they pick you out of the thousands of applicants they have or you have to know someone who can get you in. This problem is all over the country, not just here. I can only hope it picks up soon.

No one wants to hire new grads!!!
I am an RN also in the Miami area. I graduated Dec.09 and still have not been able to find a job. I have even applied to other states. It seems the only way to get hired these days is by knowing someone on the inside. It's very frustrating and unfair.

Nurse to Patient ratios, your thoughts
Hi, I have been offered a job on a tele floor with a ratio of 1:8 nights. I am a new grad and would like to here from experienced nurses about what they think of this ratio. Is this a dangerous ratio? As an experienced nurse would you work with a ratio like this? What do you think for a new grad? Please any advice and details would greatly be appreciated!

Living/working in/around Ft Lauderdale
What part of Ft.Laud are you looking at living in? It's like any other city in that you have your good areas and your bad areas. I'd say in the summer the heat is unbearable, muggy and downrite HOT, but the winters are beautiful. Good Luck

Kendall Regional
Everyone has an opinion about every hospital. It's hard to know whether it's good or bad until you actually work there.

St. Mary's or Delray?
JD, can you tell me what you saw specifically that was bad? Any other info would be great as well. I can't PM you since I don't have enough post, but if you can PM me. Thanks

Delray Medical Center
Does anyone have any recent experience at Delray that could share? Looking to see if it is still as bad as everyone seems to have experienced. I don't want to get stuck at a job that I hate so any info would be great, thanks

Anyone a new grad working at FLorida Hospital or Orlando Health?
Any ideas on when FH will be opening positions for ED for new grad nurses?
-
St. Mary's or Delray?
I do not know how to send a PM..if someone can tell me how, I'd be grateful. What things have you seen that made you understand how it got the bad reputation? What floor were you working on? Personally, I am very weary about their pt to nurse ratio, it is very high.

St. Mary's or Delray?
Caring4u, What happened at Delray? I have been offered a job in the versant and I am considering not taking it because of all these things I have been hearing, Can someone be specific and recent on their experience?

Delray Medical Center-New grad RN Versant Program- Feedback please!
You are lucky if you have had two job offers. Was the other hospital in Miami? I don't know of many places that are willing to hire a new grad unless you do the versant. I accepted the offer, tele, but I am still bothered by the ratios. I think you are doing the right thing to hold off on the other job to wait and see if you pass the math test.

Delray Medical Center-New grad RN Versant Program- Feedback please!
One thing I am worried about is the high nurse to patient ratio. On the floor they offered me it was 1:7or8 It seems really high to me. ANy feedback out there?

Delray Medical Center-New grad RN Versant Program- Feedback please!
I also got a job offer from them. Did they tell you about taking a math test? They did not mention that to me. I would be commuting from Miami as well. I have not decided if I am going to accept the job yet. Did you accept the job?

I also just went for the interview at Delray for the versant. What did you think of it? I'm a little apprehensive from all the post I've read on here of the horror stories. I'm not sure what I should do.

tired of hearing it, nursing students PLEASE answer
I just graduated from an excelerated year and half program for RN. Why you ask..no life? Let me tell you...we had quizzes everyday and 1-2 test per week. Plus we had clinicals 2 days out of the week. So you spend 8-1 in school and then you go home and you are just studying because it is sooooo much information in soooo little time. A week to learn endocrine...crazy! But that's the way they do it and if you want to have good grades and learn you have to study all the time. Then you have the days that you wake up at 530 in the morning to go to the clinical, and you don't get done until 2 or 3 depending on your school. When you get home you are so exhausted. Plus I worked full time while I went to school. So that made it even worse. If you do not work it is a little better. Good Luck! It is so worth it in the end...but it's got to be something that you love to do, not just for the money.
