  1. @glazed I'm so with you. I'm Nov. 08 passer, still no work. I still am refusing for the voulunteer route. But whenever I see my batchmates posting their pics on their FB with their Nurse uniforms of the hospital their working in, I can't help but feel sorry for myself. Most of them have backers so their are nearing their 1 year working experience. I don't have any backers that will help me to get hired to any hospitals. Adding to the fact that I'm over thirty years of age is another minus for me to get hired....what is more frustrating is, you would also need a backer just to volunteer here in our place.
  2. If you intend to practice Nursing in the US, it is much better to study your BSN there. Being a US graduate, there are less obstacles in practicing your chosen profession....
  3. just one question... what if my bls training certificate has expired? I'm hesitant on renewing my bls because the last time I acquired my bls, it was all for nothing because no hospital hired me.
  4. yes it is an Emergency Room Volunteer Program under UP Pahinungod - PGH Department of Emergency Medicine. You should complete 100 hours in 3 months. If you're interested I suggest you go to PGH and inquire. I heard even non-allied health courses graduates can also volunteer...
  5. PGH doesn't have a voulunteer program for nurses, but UP Pahinugod does... it's in the ER of PGH but the volunteer program is not related to the Nursing Service of PGH. It's a good platform for experience and new things to learn... my classmate is doing volunteer work there.
  6. :) I think waht betty means is, you should read the previous topics concerning Asian Medical Center....there's lots 'em here.
  7. During your registration in the PRC, you sign an Oath Taking Form duly notarized signed and stamped by the PRC, so that is the actual Oath taking... The ceremony is just for show...that is my understanding.
  8. Congrats to the new RN's!
  9. You don't have to go and attend the ceremony, but passing the Boards is no trivial thing. If I were you, I would attend the Oath taking ceremony, this will be the only time when you can be with your fellow nurses and celebrate the milestone of being an RN. Afterwards, it's back to reality of finding that elusive nursing job....
  10. @ NurseCubanitaRN2b I do agree so much with you. I am having a hard time looking for a nursing job without ever having to voulunteer just to have an experience working in a hospital. I am all the more regretting the fact that I have taken Nursing as my second profession....having no job all this time is so hard for me and my family but I feel I can't do anything and I don't see anyone doing anything about the situation Filipino nurses are in right now.
  11. Does anybody know if CMC have age limit on their nurse applicants?
  12. Hi! please pm me the email address. I'm interested in applying....thanks!
  13. That is so disheartening... This is one of the many reason why our country is the way it is now... Filipinos are discriminating against skin color, looks and social status... That is the reason why our country would not progress because of the blocks that our people impose on each other. One cannot be a nurse if you are fat, dark-skinned, not pretty. You will be rejected if you do not fit the mold of what they believe what a nurse shoul look like. And they complain when nurses are looked upon as sex objects....
  14. Hi Tinesirk! Are you working there at NCMH? Been planning to work there...
  15. Hi Karmela! Please update us if ever you were able to pass your application to NCMH. I have been contemplating whether I would apply there or not... I want to be a Psychiatric Nurse but I'm not sure if it would be a good career move to start my career there in NCMH.
