Olympic College-TADN
I didn't study for the accuplacer since it was just the reading portion. I didn't know how I would even study for that but luckily I did well and got the full points. So, I went and talked to an advisor and she told me that they are restructuring the TADN program. Instead of a seperate TADN program they are changing it to a space available basis entering the 2nd year of the RN program which = less spots. Also, if their change gets approved, the program wont be admitting students until fall 2012. I'm still going to apply, but I really hope they don't change it this year!

LPN to RN in Oahu
The university of phoenix program is fully accredited by the aacn. They meet once a week on Saturdays, and the program typically takes 2 1/2 years to complete. I believe they have cohorts that start three or four times a year.

Seattle University essay help!!!
Hello everyone! I am working on my Seattle University BSN admissions essay and I don't even know where to start. Here is what the school wants: "The nursing personal statement should be 1 ½ - 2 pages, double spaced, and detail your reasons for applying to the nursing program. We specifically look for four components in your essay: *your command of the English language (correct grammar, appropriate style) *health care interest *commitment to social justice *altruism (i.e., what will you give back to the communities you serve? How will you use your education to help people?)" This is what I have so far. It's a VERY rough draft. I am having writers block and have no idea where to tie in the important things like altruis, commitment to social justice... I was wondering if you have any suggestions? Thanks for your help! My practical nursing school at Bates Technical Colleges was one of the hardest, but most amazing thing I have ever done. From the first day of class all I heard from other students that were halfway through the program were things like, "only the really smart people make it," "it will be the worst year of your life", and "only 30% of people make it through the first time, so don't be too confident". I have to admit, the upper classmen scared me to death that first day, making me doubt why I was even there. My previous grades were not the best, it seemed like all of my fellow students had worked in the healthcare before, and the closest thing to patient care I had was taking care of my dog when she was sick. In my mind, I did not think I would make it to the end of those long four quarters, but I did. I had to look past all of my negative classmates, and find my own strength and confidence. I really found out a lot about myself during nursing school. I became confident in my abilities, and transformed myself into a critically thinking, caring nurse. My experiences as an LPN would make me a great candidate for the BSN program at Seattle University. I know what it takes to succeed, and how hard you have to work to get where you want to be. For me, that is a registered nurse with a bachelor's degree in nursing. The apartment I live in is halfway between Harborview Medical Center and Swedish Medical Center. Everyday when I look out the window I see doctors and nurses walking by. My dream is to work at one of those hospitals, and be one of those nurses walking by. Seattle University has a great reputation among the community. Many people, including me, admire the Jesuits and their teachings. In the short six months that I have been an LPN, I have discovered many of my core values. No one should be treated as just another patient. Everyone has value and should get the medical care they need no matter what they have done, how much money they have, or how they behave. From my many experiences in visiting Seattle University's campus, I feel that SU has similar values towards their students. I love how the student - teacher ratio is so low. This makes me feel confident that teachers at SU work equally as hard as the students for success.

Has anyone gone/ going to Bates Technical College for PN?
When I went to the orientation at Bates they said it would probably be a year or so before I enter the program. I only had to wait about 4 months because they had a lot of slots to fill in that quarter so I guess I got lucky! so far it has been a TON of work but im glad it's not easy. Bates has the highest passing rate on the NCLEX out of any other LPN program in the state.

Evergreen Nursing and Rehabilitation center in Olympia
Ewww don't work there. I think I have heard of lawsuits that are being filed there for mistreatment of patients. I knew someone who worked there as an lpn and she was the only nurse for 32 beds an only had 3cna's helping her. If you wanna break your back go ahead and work there. St. Petes is way better.

Has anyone gone/ going to Bates Technical College for PN?
I am starting in March and I have no idea what to expect. I heard it is pretty rigorous but I'd like to hear from someone other than an advisor.

SPSCC applied for Fall start 2009!
I am taking my prereq's at SPSCC and it's a great campus. I don't know much a bout the teaching here but area hospitals like to hire the graduates because the school has a good reputation. How many points did you get?

Anyone attended South Puget Sound Comm. College's Nursing program?
It is not true that you have to have a 4.0 to get in. I asked the nursing director and she said that only a small percentage of people admitted had a 4.0. The lowest score they admitted in 2008 was an 86 out of 108. don't be so scared of what people tell you about it. It is true that you have to have your CNA licence before you start though.
