The program takes 11 months. Its doable we had people from ohio, arizona and california in the program. They flew in for clinicals the clinicals are 3 days a week for 6x weeks.

That's a hospital policy. Probably because they don't want to pay for it if you aren't going to tough it out in the er.

My ob had me take sudafed and I dried up in 2 days with no discomfort. :)

I would apply for a transfer. You gain er experience and you can see if you like the flow of the er. It is a huge change from working the floor. If questioned by your manager just say that you like working on the telemetry unit you want to expand your knowledge and skill set. Most managers know that new nurses want experience and then transfer to icu or er nursing and won't fault you for finding the type of nursing you truly love! And if you love er nursing will the extra 20 cents an hour you don't make due to a raise be that big of deal?

To be honest I wouldn't work there. I'm sure that you showed up and behaved in a way that was the best you can be. That's what people do at interviews. I'm sure she was probably on her best behavior since an interview is a two way street. If she acts that way when trying to entice you to work there I'm sure she won't be a pleasure to work for. I interviewed two years ago at a large hospital with a great reputation and was literally screamed at and degraded and was then offered the job. I didn't take it because if she's that unprofessional in an interview she'd be probably 10x worse to work for. But that's just my 2 cents.

We get paid midnight to midnight on the actual day of the holiday. On the time change nights will work 13 hours and days will work 11 and get paid accordingly. The extra hour will be paid with shift diff.

Ours is included in the room rate. The fluids are billed through the pyxis.

I will continue on to get my BSN/MSN. For tips I would say be very flexible because they like to throw on requirements at the last minute. I didn't really care for the program especially this semester, but I passed and that is all that mattered. The program is definitely what you put into it. As long as you read what is on the study guide for each test you should do fine. I know that they are going to a lot more proctored tests because of cheating, which is sad because the whole point of taking the courses online is convenience. Watch out for dosage calc we lost a lot of students due to those. GOOD LUCK!

It just depended on the student. A lot of them stayed the entire time but some drove or flew back. Community Clinicals are in the 2nd semester. We had a 2 week break between semesters but I heard that you all will graduate in October (a month sooner than my class) and that is because you don't have the 2 week break. Good Luck!

I am graduating in 15 days from this program and you have to come to Kansas for your clinicals except for community which you may be able to get in your home area. If you stay in Kansas the whole time you can do your community clinicals in Kansas around your other days. Hope that Helps.

There are only 2 theory classes. 1 each semester.

The transition course is 6 weeks and you need the "student nurse manual" for this course. It is very easy. The clinicals are at the end of each theory class and last for 6 weeks (3 days a week). The locations depend on what area of the state that you are in. If you are in western kansas or out of state you will be in Wichita, Pratt, Hutchinson, and Larned. If you are in eastern kansas you will go to Newton, Overland Park Regional, Stormont Vail, and Osawatomie State Hospital. I hope that your interview at SMMC goes better than mine. Nothing like being yelled at by a person that isn't your boss yet. But the hospital looks clean and nice.

Hospitals in this area like to "promote from within" and L&D is a highly sought after position so typically you have to work at that hospital to get an interview. Maybe you could apply for other areas to get your foot in the door at a hospital near you. Sorry. Hope you land your dream job.

Are you applying to their LPN or RN program. I know that if you are already an LPN you have to have IV certification and nutrition. I never went to the program or applied but I had a few friends do their LPN to RN bridge program and they really liked the program.

You could try to take a refresher course. Or you could apply to LTC - they are more apt to hire a "new" grad right now. Hope that helps.

I think that they would accept you with that gpa without an issue. As long as you have your prereqs complete you will probably be accepted. I know that a few students had the minimum teas score and were still accepted. They don't have a waitlist so as long as your prereqs are done then you will be accepted at least that has been the case for the last few years with them. HTH. Don't purchase your books through the book store they are very expensive there. I suggest using barnes and noble or a local textbook store that can find used books.

I was in the NE Kansas group we had clinicals at Overland Park, Children's Mercy in MO, Newton, Stormont Vail in Topeka, and Osawatomie Most of our clinicals were on thurs-fri-sat. The other group had clinicals at Hutchinson, Pratt, Wesley, Galicha in Wichita and Larned State Hospital. I don't know what days their clinicals were. I think that you could keep your work schedule as long as they let you off for clinicals. I think that the theory portion is very doable with that schedule. pratt community college has an online bridge program that it awesome. It costs about 6000.00. Clinicals are 6 weeks each semester (2 semesters total) for 3 consective days a week. Their website is Online LPN-RN | There is no waitlist to get in as long as your prereqs are completed and you can complete them all online at edukan.org Most of the people that attend have full time jobs and complete the program. you could look into Pratt Community College in Pratt, KS. It is all online for your LPN-RN bridge and you have 6 weeks of clinicals at the end of each semester. I have clinicals in Newton, KS, Overland Park Regional, Children's Mercy on MO side, Osawatomie Mental Health, and Stormont Vail in Topeka, KS.

I'm going to Pratt Community College in Pratt, KS and it's all online except for 3 days a week for 6 weeks at the end of the semester. So we have 36 days of clinicals for the whole program! They always group the 3 days together or I know that some of the people from california stay the whole time and rent a value place hotel room.

I haven't taken chem through them but that it how it worked for micro. I have a friend that took chem through edukan and they said that they just had software to buy and of course the proctored final but they didn't say anything about an onsite lab.
