What's nursing school like?
can someone please tell me what to expect the first week or month of nursing school. I was accepted into a program at Butler Community College in Kansas. I am now considering not going because I have read too many forums on here about the difficulties of the nursing program. No one has been specific about what makes it difficult and I am not questioning if I am capable. I do not think I want to study and vomit from it, so If someone could enlighten me that would be great. I just want to know exactly what I am getting in to before I do it. I am used to studying and working hard at my job too. I have a bachelor in psychology if that helps. thank u.

Butler CCC or WSU Nursing Program
fleasle- I am accepted to the Butler program and will be starting in january. I am from out of state and will be moving to El Dorado. I know you stated that you worked about 30 hours a week, that seems like a lot! What did your classmates seem to be able to handle? I would say I am of average intelligence but am trying to get an idea of how much I will be able to work once I am in. What is the most difficult part of nursing school? Any tips? I have no idea what to expect. First person in my family to go to college! thanks.

TEAS Test version V
I am scheduled to take the Teas V in two weeks. I have the study guide and online assessments to take for practice which I will do shortly. Does anyone know how difficult earning a 90% on this test will be? I know this is dependent on a lot of factors, but I have mostly seen people complaining about the difficulty of the test and their nervousness about it, more than others stating they did well. Guess I just want to hear that its not an impossibility. Any info or advice is appreciated! thx

average GPA from good school, or high GPA from bad school
unfortunately...this is the way it works. No matter what school you go to there is no way to really award points based on a harder school or harder course. Most nursing programs just look at a C, as a C, no matter where it is from- and award points based on this grade. Some schools do offer honors courses which may award more gpa points per course you take. I have found myself in this boat too. I had a super hard BIO 201 teacher and a C felt like a congressional medal of honor. In the long run you will be better prepared and it will benefit YOU more by taking a difficult course, but i am sure your problem at hand is not your preparation for nursing school, but actually getting into nursing school. If you do not get it (or while you wait) maybe consider looking oat ratemyprofessor.com and picking a teacher that is well rated so you can really show what ever school you are applying to that you can get an A given the opportunity- thats what I am doing. I also live in Arizona, so that is the way things work here, from other nurses I have talked to in different states, this is the way it works there too. Unfortunately a C is a C.

butler community college - El Dorado KS
Hey everyone. I am new here. I have been trying to get my pre-req's done for nursing school over this past year. I've decided I am going to move to the Wichita area to be closer to my boyfriend and to pursue nursing school (most importantly). I took a liking to Butler because they have a Butler- WSU (Wichita State) program, and other reasons such as finances, location, etc. Does any one go there or has anyone applied there and gotten in, or not been accepted? I am wondering what my chances are with an A in Eng 101, a B in General Psych and C in Anatomy. I am aware that improving my C will help me greatly but I am going to apply just in case before Sept 20 (for Jan 2011 admission) after I take the T.E.A.S. test. Also, if anyone has been accepted or was rejected, what were your scores in these classes and the TEAS? Thanks for all the help! kasey
