LPN to RN???
Thank you so much for taking the time! I will look into it today. Going on has been a goal for some time and I feel now that I'm ready for the challenge. Do you know about where the clinicals are held? I work M-F 8-5. Will I be able to do that?! I have a great job now with great co-workers. I would like to stay there if possible, but if not then changes will have to be made. The cost is so much better than I thought it might be!

What's your reason for putting up with it?
Agreed! I don't think that nursing is the only thing women are restricted to. I know many women who are employed doing things outside of care-taking. Things that I think are quite interesting and important to our society. I was trying to explain from my personal perspective. Women have made fantastic strides for equality and I don't believe that anyone should be abused in the work-place. Trouble is, I have seen and delt with it myself. Family members who are desperate for their loved ones health can be down right hateful and ugly! The fact is, it is tolerated. It can be intimidating to stand up and report things because often the response is a 'it is par for the course' type. I try to focus on the + aspects and the rewards I get doing my job.

What's your reason for putting up with it?
I think it's a two-sided coin kinda thing. I know that as a female, nursing is a profession in which I will always have a job. I can't support myself doing much of anything else. I think women often find themselves in the role of care-taker which stems from a our struggle through time. Sometimes it's shocking what ppl will do to provide. Still, it is challenging and I enjoy that a lot. Each day, I feel that I make a + difference is someone's life. I am very proud of the work that I do EVEN if it means putting up with some aholes now and then.

Small nose piercings at work?
While a little stud can often look cute, most establishments are going to say it's a no-go. There are other things to think about too...some elderly pts or their family may not respect you as much, no matter your skills. (I'm not saying that SHOULD BE, but sometimes it is that way). Regardless, you want their trust. Also, you may increase your chances of developing a nasty skin infection if you were unfortunate enough to be splashed in the face by bodily fluids...and it happens!!

LPN to RN???
I am an LPN and working in Kansas for the past five years. I want to get my RN or BSN. I'm not sure which yet. At this point I just know that I want to further my education. Trouble is, like most gals I cannot live on part-time pay. I have to work FT. I'm trying to find a legit online program. Have any of you done this, or know where to start?? If would love some advice. Thanks so much!!
