  1. Like I said earlier, I'm left traditional nursing for MR. I love it! I can be out daily by 330, no nights, weekends, holidays. I make a decent amount more per hour than I did in traditional! I live in a Boston suburb. I have friends/co-workers who le...
  2. I started in Assisted Living. I too am a new RN, I graduated in May 2011. An Assisted Living Wellness Nurse is a jack of many trades. You see it all (psych, cardiac, pulmonary, endocrine, dietary), really a huge mixed bag of human beings! You write n...

  4. I am curious: a) what was your first job and how long after graduating did you land it? b) how long did you stay at the first job? c) why did you leave and what did you do before going to the next?
  5. New to Assisted living: Help?

That is GREAT! I have heard people say they really feel like they are making a difference and they enjoy the extra time and the permanency to get to know the residents. Thanks for your reply.
  6. There is a thread somewhere on here about "why am I not getting hired" or something like that. It was AWESOME and had links to many samples. I used it recently (graduated in May) and got the first job I interviewed for!
  7. New to Assisted living: Help?

How are you liking the job now with more time under your belt?
  8. NCLEX and ATT

Hi, I just graduated and overnighted my application to BON (MA who runs it through PCS in Nashville) and it was received last Thursday. When I log into Perason the only option that I have is "Registration" which I have done, and Pearson acknowledges ...

awesome advice! I had heard by some to wait a month after the review ended!?!? I want to keep my mojo going and I am all about putting in long hard study days! What books did you guys find most helpful for questions? I actually own quite a few becaus...
  10. NCLEX and ATT

Thanks! I actually heard they were filling up, but I guess you can troll around and usually get a really quick cancellation date! My friend scheduled for like 2-3 weeks out, but tried again the next day and got the following day! Appreciate your repl...
  11. Job Possibilites with ADN or BSN

Hi, I am a nursing student and really do not think I like the hospital setting, but I have only been in Med/Surg so I am sure there are better areas. But, I am curious what other careers are available to an RN (ADN but certainly moving on to BSN). I ...
  12. Hardest part of nursing school

The courses are really not the hard part in my opinion. It is the skills! I go to skills labs over the weekends to get extra practice! I am in clinical twice a week, but I like the extra time (time that you don't always get with patients) to ask ques...
  13. Quincy College/Massasoit Community college

Hi question about your QC rotation days.. I am starting the program in the fall... are they Tuesday AND Thursday or one or the other? Thanks!
  14. Titers

Hi all, I am newly accepted to a Nursing Program and I need to get Vaccinations or Titers. The only one I worry about is the Hep B (simply for timing purposes...I need to be done by September). As a child I had two of the three Hep B shots. I pulled ...
  15. Titers

I think I will get the titer and just wait for the results. I can spare two days (just barely) maybe I will get the titer done first and then just have them give me the first Hep B in case the tire shows negative for Hb antibodies
  16. Titers

Non reactive dues not show immunity or not. Non-reactive means you currently are not infected. I just spoke to the doctors office. Reactive means you currently are infected
  17. Titers

No it means Non-reactive. HBsAg (hepatitis B surface antigen): when this is "positive" or "reactive" it means the person is HBV infected at the present time and is able to pass the disease on to others. I guess that test form what I can gather...
  18. I got my letter! YAY! FINALLY! I am in! See you in September!
  19. Jack, Any word? My husband just checked today's mail and still no word! I live in Weymouth so if it was mailed out Thursday or Friday I am sure I would have gotten it by now....UGH!
  20. What's a BA,RN to do?

I am going to be a BS (exercise science and Nutrition) and a ADN. I ma planning on working in the medical fiedl in some manner and doing my ADN to BSN through UMB. Already having a BS I am hoping the RN to BSN will not be too much more.
  21. QNur, Thanks so much for the valuable info! It seems the schedule will still permit me to work, at least at the beginning! Thanks for sharing!!! It is VERY helpful!
  22. Accuplacer Scores?

What did everyone get? I am trying to get a feel for how I fall in the pack. Acceptance (at the school I am applying) ONLY depends on the passing scores (Comp. - 95, Sentence - 96, and Math - 75) and people with the highest Comp. scores (out of 120) ...
  23. Accuplacer Scores?

I have very similar scores: 113, 117, and 119! I hope the 113 is better than 80 of the other applicants!
  24. OK. I just called.. the Sociology is no longer required (the course catalog I have has it as a req.) I decided (since i am already one quiz deep) to just finish it out to make my GPA stronger and to keep my Financial Aid;) Thanks for the heads up!
