Congratulations!!! Clinicals actually start first semester. You start in the lab for a month or so then they let you loose in the hospital! Looking back now it really wasn't that bad. Your usually doing vitals, assessment's, nursing notes, and depending on your instructor med's.

I'm in RN program now and we started in 2009 with roughly 90 students... not sure how many applied though. Best of luck!!!

118 math, 111 reading, & 118 grammar, but I know people who made the program with much lower scores so I wouldn't sweat it!!

Like you never heard this statement before, but here goes..... I need help with the purchase of a stethoscope. I will be starting my nursing program in Sept. and I need to purchase a Stethoscope. My Aunt would like to purchase me one and she is EXTREMELY well off and money has never been a concern. So do I join the rank and file of my classmates and go for the Littmann Classic II SE or upgrade and go for the Littmann Cardiology III. I know the Cardiology is a little a heavier and top of the line, but is it overkill for a entry level nursing student!!! (plus I wouldn't want to look like a little snot on my clinicals with a $150.00 piece of equipment around my neck :) Any input would be appreciated. Thanks so much and have a great day.

A male patient is lying in bed in the hospital, wearing an oxygen mask over his mouth and nose, still heavily sedated from a difficult four hour, surgical procedure A young student nurse appears to give him a partial sponge bath. Nurse', he mumbles, from behind the mask 'Are my testicles black?' Embarrassed, the young nurse replies 'I don't know, Sir. I'm only here to wash your upper body and feet.' He struggles to ask again, 'Nurse, are my testicles black?' Concerned that he may elevate his vitals from worry about his testicles, she overcomes her embarrassment and sheepishly pulls back the covers. She raises his gown, holds his member in one hand and his testicles in the other, lifting and moving them around. Then, she takes a close look and says, 'There's nothing wrong with them, Sir !!' The man pulls off his oxygen mask, smiles at her and says very slowly, 'Thank you very much. That was wonderful, but listen very, very closely...... A r e - m y - t e s t - r e s u l t s - b a c k ?

Hey Guys, Little late getting back... sorry. Call Colonial Nursing & Rehab Center 781-337-3121 and ask them that you would like to sign up for the next CNA class. Just a little background... I did four days (Monday through Thursday) in a rehab/nursing home in Duxbury then friday at their Weymouth facility then the next two weeks (full time) in Weymouth then after that part time 7-3 at the Weymouth facility. I should have my time (clinicals) and classroom work done by April 8th and at that point I can take the State board. It's not a bad deal although I just started. Hope this helps any questions get back to me and I can always inquire at the front desk for you. BTY pugdaddy I'll be attending Quincy College RN program.

Hey Dave, I'm in the same boat as you. Just accepted to a nursing program and thought I become a CNA before I start in Sept. Try this site: http://www.longtermcarecareers.org/train.php. I live in the South Shore and attend a program in Weymouth, it's free and they actually pay me while they teach me. $10.00 per hr. plus an additional $2.00 per hour because I'm in a nursing program. I'M LOSING MY MIND!!! They told me Thursday night or Friday morning... but still nothing. I have to go to Newport Thursday afternoon but I'll head over to admissions first and see what they say. Hopefully we'll see it in tomorrows mail.....I cant take this waiting!!! I'll post something for you Thursday night.

Hi, Two quick questions... Are all the nursing classes held in New Temple (lectures) and Saville (labs) are there any classes in Newport? and what's the uniform like? are we given uniforms or do we buy our own scrubs?? Thanks

Thanks MarkE86... But the big question is how has the first couple of weeks been. Do they have you studying and testing right off the bat? Any hints or advice would be appreciated!!!!
