Western Governor's University
I too am looking into WGU for my BSN. I will finish my ASN in December and want to get started right away while I'm still in the school mode. I have taken online classes in the past so that is not my concern. My concern is: they charge a flat fee for a 6 month semester. Do they pound you with tons of work so it will take you longer to complete? or is their curriculum comparable to other online programs, and you get out what you put in. I would like to talk with a advisor but not sure if they are interested in talking with you until you are a official RN, which won't happen for me until Jan 2010. I would love to be enrolled in a program and ready to start as soon as I pass my boards. There are so many online programs out there so there is a lot of research to be done. I would love to hear from other graduates on their experiences with the program they did. Thanks Nancy:):)

Southeastern TEAS test
I went to Southeastern for my LPN, graduated in 08. I bought the teas test study guide but only really went over the math portion of it. I ended up doing really well which surprised me. Each section of the test is graded individually and then they come up with a composite score. I did lousy in the science portion but I think that they focus on the english and math sections more than anything when selecting potential candidates. After you take your test, providing you do well enough they call you for a interview. The director of the program does the interviewing. During the interview we went over my transcripts and things like that. When you go to the interview dress nicely, show your enthusiasm, tell her how hard your willing to work to become a nurse (because the program is NOT easy.) She is looking for people who are going to work hard and graduate. Your success is her success. She wants to be sure you have good support at home, and that you going to give the program your all. I hope this helps, Also, like I said the program is demanding, you will have to study alot but you will be so thankful when you graduate. Southeastern has a reputation of being a really hard program, which will benefit you when you start to practice as a LPN. Good Luck to you

lpn to rn at massasoit community college
Where I work the full time nurses work mon-fri 32/40 hours. The baylor nurses only work weekends sat/sun 7-7 they work 24 hrs but get paid for 32. Great option for moms who need to be home during the week for their kids. I do a lot of these weekend shifts and they go by so fast. I don't know what type of nursing I want to do when I get my RN but I'm willing to try most anything. I'm hoping that during my clinicals I will be introduced to something that really excites me. Take care LUCY

I work in a rehab facility which has some long term residents and some sub acute rehab people. This has been my only job since I graduated from school. I have to say it's really busy but the experience I have gotten has been fantastic. I work per-diem there but I always get plenty of hours. Lucy

I am referring to the evening program which accepts 42 students, that is why I chose that route because my chances of getting in were better. The day program accepts approx. 10 students each year. I met the graduates of the evening program at my current job. Also, when you apply to the program you have to choose either the day program or the night program, you can't apply to both. Lucy

lpn to rn at massasoit community college
Hi I live about 30 minutes away from massasoit. I think we will have one night a week of lecture (mondays) and one night of Clinicals a week (thursdays) I'm not sure of the locations of the clinicals but I'll find out today at orientation. I know a few girls that have just graduated from the evening program and they said it is a good program. Not near as stressful as the LPN program. Lucy

Where can I go from here?
That's too bad. It stinks when students are right on the cusp of passing and they don't make it. I'm sorry. What school were you at? Depending on how badly you want nursing I would try for a LPN program. Don't give up if you really want to be a nurse. Good Luck LUCY

Looking for advice for lpn to rn
Hey Pauline, I was just accepted into the LPN to RN evening program at Massasoit CC starting in Sept 09. The program is two evenings a week, Mondays 4:30pm-7:30 and Thursdays 4:30-10ish. The program will run for 3 semesters, so we will finish up in December 2010. It took me two years to complete my prereqs. I took 2 classes per semester, and two during the summer sessions. If you chose to take more classes per semester you would get them done sooner. The next program starts up in Jan 2011. You do have to take a entrance exam called the NEAT test and you have to have certain prereqs completed to be considered for the program. The web site at Massasoit has all the information about the program and the NEAT test that you would need. They also have information sessions during the fall months that you would need to attend. When I started taking my prereqs I felt that it was going to take forever but the time really goes by fast and before you know you are finished. If I were you I would try to take a summer class to get started as soon as possible. I hope this helps LUCY

Hi I have all prereqs and coreqs completed so all I will have to do is the Nursing portion of the program. I passed the exam with 85. There are no books available that I know of out there. There are only 20 questions on the exam but you want to answer them as fast and accurate as you can. Although you have a hour to take the test, Somehow the amount of time you take is factored in. I took it in 20 minutes but let me warn you this is a computer generated test and there are 50 people in the room taking it along side you. As people begin to finish their tests it gets very noisy with printers printing out results, and talking, ect. I found this to be very distracting because you really need to be focused on the reading. If I were you I would buy a cheap pair of ear plugs so you won't lose you concentration, and you can focus. I wish I had. I'm sure I would have done better. The reading is not easy, light reading. I hope this helps. Lucy

Hi I'm not referring to the Jan 2011 program. That one is the next one they have after this one that starts in Sept 2009. The evening program is a part time program that runs for 3 semesters. So this one ends in Dec 2010 and a new one will start up in January 2011. Also, Massasoit does not use the NET exam any longer, they use a test called the NEAT exam which is basically a reading exam with no math at all. I believe you have to score 70 or higher to be considered for the program. You can go to Massasoit's web site to get information about the exam. I hope this helps, and good luck to you. Lucy
