  1. In a few weeks, definitely yes!
  2. I tend to agree. Residents may have their "issues" but they are still living, breathing human beings!
  3. What motivates me? My kids.....I used to love going to work, now with all the budget cuts, between staff and supplies, I'm starting to dread it
  4. We aren't allowed to use washcloths for peri-care. And if we were to get caught throwing a washcloth that was too poopy to be saved.......ooooooooh boy, big trouble!
  5. I know we have one rectal and one oral thermometer for one floor, 48 residents. And one O2 stat machine. We really need more vital sign equipment....
  6. "Can you shut that fan off?? It's COLD in here" Yes, it's about 90 in here, but okay, whatever you say, lol!
  7. Ahhh yes, gotta love the "Hey lady!!" coming from a 60 something year old woman, who is in there for rehab, totally has her mind. Grrrrr..... Ummmm, 1st shift not relining the trash cans in the rooms drives me INSANE!! How long does it take to put in a trash bag, really? Being expected to work miracles in the place...................with no supplies. Co-workers who ask for help with a hoyer, to get in to bed for the night, but don't have them all washed up, top undressed and ready to go. That takes up 10 minutes of my time!!! I'm sure I'll be back with more.....
  8. Up here in Maine, not at all. I walked in to the place I knew I wanted to work at, got an application, sent in a resume, and I was hired a week later! Not to say it's like that everywhere, but it was for me!
  9. Thank you for the reminder. It's very true!
  10. Never tell a resident you be back "in two minutes", because a fellow employee will NEED you for something while you run down the hall. That five minutes will surely turn in to at least 20 minutes.........if you are lucky :)
  11. LMAO! The foley It was quite traumatic!
  12. Always hold the plastic clasp at the end of a foley bag, especially a very full one. It very well could slip right off the end, causing you to panic, and pee all over the floor.
  13. No, not necessarily. I've worked LTC as a new CNA for the last six months and haven't done it yet, but I admit I would like to.
  14. Sometimes talking with the resident helps, asking them how many children they had and where they've lived.
  15. You dream about your residents and violently wake your husband up because you think something's happened to them...... You can tell who had a B.M. by the smell just walking down the hall...... You hear call bells when you are alone at home..... You have no problem talking about who had a bowel movement and it's consistency on your break..... The list goes on :)
