  1. Honestly, I wouldn't worry. When I was thinking about possibly attending law school school, it seemed like everybody was thinking about going to law school (a really awful waste of money but at the time I was feeling really lost). When I was thinking about pharmacy school, it seemed like everybody was fulfilling prereqs to go to pharmacy school. The same thing is happening now that I started taking pre-reqs -- everybody is going to nursing and pharmacy school. Don't worry about what everybody else is doing and not doing. Some of them will find other things to do, some won't be able to handle the coursework, some people will be grossed out by bodily functions and realize it, some people won't know how to work well with others, some people will think about it and not follow through.
  2. Haha. That's hilarious. You should just pretend she's a television show running in the background and tune her out. She sounds like a bad sitcom.
  3. To be honest, I prefer teaching myself. It makes me feel more in control of my own education, and there are so many materials out there to learn from. I think you should probably just ask her what is going to be on the test and ask her all kinds of questions.
  4. For reasons out of my control, I may actually be looking at attending UDC for a BSN program. The ABSN program at Georgetown is expensive, UMD's program at Shady Grove will probably not let a DC resident have in-state tuition, and neither will GMU over in VA. I've heard all kinds of terrible things about UDC, and I have no idea if it's even a decent school. Would it makes sense to pay out-of-state tuition if I got into GMU or UMD, or even Georgetown-type tuition? I really don't want to graduate with a high debt load. My original idea was to move to a cheaper state that had more educational opportunities, but the job situation has chained me to staying in the DC area. I've been trying to move to Virginia, but all the apts on the metro line are super expensive and I can't really afford a car right now. So, is UDC that bad?
  5. Oh wow. I didn't realize how old this thread is...
  6. Congrats! I was just curious -- where did you do your pre-reqs? Did you do them online or in a classroom setting?
  7. Hi everyone, I'm wondering whether I should take anatomy and physiology through Northern Virginia Community College or through CCCOnline. They're going to cost about the same amount (since I live in DC and NVCC is charging out-of-state tuition to me), but I don't know which community college would actually be better. I've heard positive things about CCCOnline, so if anyone has any opinions about their experience with the way either school does A&P I and II online, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks in advance.
  8. I'm taking it this fall and working full-time. I wish I could just take all my pre-reqs at once, but I'm too scared to leave my job.
  9. Are you guys all Virginia residents? I've been trying to call Annette Fowler to ask her about the likelihood of a DC resident getting accepted to the accelerated online or in-person program, and I haven't been able to reach her. I can't fathom paying the kind of tuition Georgetown charges, even with their scholarship program.
  10. I think you should complain to the administration that she was absent so much and missed giving lectures. Don't mention your grade on the test, but just say that her schedule is becoming erratic and you're disappointed with the quality of the class. Have them refund your money and take the course again. You're paying good money for that course and for her to be there. She doesn't have to be the best teacher in the world, but you're taking this class on-site for a reason, and it's not to flush money down the drain. It's unacceptable.
  11. Hi everybody, I was going to take A&P I online through a community college that is really cheap, but another poster on this site mentioned that the exam questions are very vague and that she had to work extra hard. I'm working full-time and feel so anxious about doing A&P right. So I thought maybe there was a better online course out there. Does anyone have any recommendations? Thanks, Mina
  12. School A sounds like the best option. Is the tuition at School B greater than or less than the amount you would spend on daycare for your son? I feel like, in this economy, saving money is the most important thing, especially if you have kids. Good luck on your decision! I'm sure it will be great no matter what you choose!
  13. The poet might be useful for a eulogy should no doctor be available, haha.
  14. She was the admissions officer at one of the schools I mentioned. She absolutely refused to address my question about UDC, only saying in her reply that they felt NVCC best prepared local prospective applicants.
  15. She was the admissions officer at the school I'm applying to.
