Dosage Calculations
I practice with my textbook and the CD that came with it. I have a really hard time with drug calculations as well. I think I'm going to go invest in another book that might provide more examples and in depth detail. I'm not the greatest at math and sorta need it pounded in my brain.

They spoiled me and now I'm freaking out !
At my school, you have to make 90% (you have 2 tries or your out). We don't have multiple choice questions, but we can use a simple calculator. Med. calc. is always tough for me so I have to practice a lot!

"Atypical" Nurse? How discouraging...
If it's any comfort at all, your situation sounds more like the typical nursing student than the atypical one (if there is one lol).

mcg/kg/min
The answer my teacher gave was 19.05 mcg/kg/min. I have no clue how she got it.

mcg/kg/min
Geez, thanks for being kind. No, we don't have to have chemistry at my school.

mcg/kg/min
Would someone work this one out so that I can see how it's done? A 90 kg patient is receiving Levophed at 60ml/hr. The label on the bag reads 8 mg in 1000 ml of 5% dextrose. How many mcg/kg/min is the patient receiving? I failed pharmacology last semester and if I don't pass my final, I'm out of nursing. I truly appreciate all of the help I'm getting here. You guys are the best!

mcg/kg/min
You're an angel! Thank you so much!!

mcg/kg/min
I need to see how it's worked. Would someone write it out totally just so I can see how to do it?

mcg/kg/min

mcg/kg/min
A continuous dopamine drip is infusing at 12 ml/hr. Patient weight is 154 lbs. Calculate dose of drug in mcg/kg/min if the label on the bag reads 800 mg in 250 ml, equivalent to 3200 mcg/ml. HELP!

nursing is a profession:"I'm just a nurse"
I sorta see both sides of this IRL. People tend to seem to respect the profession of nursing, but then again, I am the one often guilty of feeling like an assistant.

finals!!!
I have my pharmacology (medical calculations) final on the 2nd and my fundamentals of nursing exam on the 5th! Good luck everyone!!!

Bedbaths and Bedmaking
My day usually goes like this: 0700-0800 Physical Assessment 0800-0900 Help feed patients 0900-1000 Medication Admin. 1000-1100 Charting/Nurses Notes/Wasting time 1100-1130 Lunch 1130-1230 Most students are hiding in closets writing or something. I'm usually helping other patient's b/c I'm bored to tears. 1230-1300 Help patients with lunch 1300-1500 I'm back to sitting with patients talking to them b/c I have nothing to do. I seriously hope I get more from clinical than I do right now. I'm very disappointed in my clinical as a whole. My instructor was wonderful, it wasn't that.

Student Uniform - My Gosh!
Wow...that's very impractical. How are you supposed to turn/bend over in that?! I'd be paranoid about keeping myself covered the whole time I was wearing it. Of course, my uniform makes me look like an big white jelly bean, so idk which one is worse. At least that uniform is sorta cute, though awfully impractical.

What exactly do you do in CNA school?
I wish I would have had some CNA training prior to entering NS, but honestly, it isn't necessary.
