  1. Sunrise, valley, and st. rose have new grad programs. call HR and try and figure out what you can do. I grauated this past may, took nclex in july and as soon as I found out that I passed I called a unit and spoke to the manager so that he could help me get a job, and it worked. I work at sunrise and they just hired a bunch on new grads, theres a 'new grad' spot open now in NICU. Good luck.
  2. I was 3 months pregnant when I started my first semester in the nursing program, passed, got my licence & work in a hospital. It will be tough but if you want to do it you can. Best of luck in your choice.
  3. much cheaper on amazon
  4. Las Vegas, NV new grad with and ADN. I work in a major hospital on a med/surg/psych unit, pay is 29.60/hr and 1.50 if I work weekends
  5. I graduated from CSN this past May. took the NCLEX-RN in July, and got a job in June. The hospitals seem to like CSN grads better than other schools. Thats just my experience.
  6. http://www.*******.com/home/exams/nclex-exam this website, RN pedia is free and helped BUNCHES! i did the pvt as soon as i got home and got the good pop up, and it worked, i passed. best of luck
  7. Took NCLEX-RN yesterday, shut off at 81 questions, I got 'the good pop up,' but waiting till tomorrow to find out the unofficial results is horrible
  8. Its not given, so I guess I'm to assume 10, 15 or 20. thank you
  9. Hello, I need some help with my IV calculation practice test. I get how to do the calculations but this question is messing me up: Levaquin 250 mg IV in 50cc D5W is to be infused over 1 hour. What is the drip rate? Do I add 250 and 50 some how?
  10. I was just talking about new hire nurses, not new RNs just out of school sorry. Each unit is allowed to hire only so many new grad nurses a year, from what I understand anyway. From what I hear some hospitals will not hire new grads now to save money. With that being said my unit hired a few new grads this year and only a few stayed past orientation.
  11. I just had my daughter 6 weeks ago and I'm in between semesters, and while I love that she's here I would have rather waited till I was done with NS. It feels like I'm going to miss out on alot not being home with her. But women do it all the time, it is possible.
  12. I work there and they layed off about 158 people, 50 or so were nurses. There are positions open, but they can pay a new hire less than a RN who has bben there 10 years (all about the money). They reevaluate about every 3 months.
  13. Alternate Clinical Experience; before we go to our clinical site we go to ACE to learn some basic skills. I think it's like the first three weeks.
  14. I've lived in Vegas most of my life (22 years) and I work at Sunrise Hospital. We are a 800 bed hospital running at half census for over a year+ now so we have units closed. UMC has the same problem, the economy just sucks. So far the hospital I work at has layed off 180+ nurses, cnas and other positions and they are planning more in Jan. They are hiring new nurses for less and laying off those who have been here a while and make the most.
  15. We don't have to have our uniforms ready untill the last day of ACE when they have us come to class in uniform for inspection. So i'm sure that they will give us more info before then, Hopefully...
