how many questions you had on your exam? 75 what did you use as a review material? basically all saunders materials, kaplan, princeton book (i had other review materials given to me by relatives but i wasn't able to use all of it; i only scanned them. e.g. nclex made easy, exam cram, delmar, prioritization and delegation,etc.) enrolled in a review center or home study? both. i enrolled in kaplan and i also reviewed during my free time. for my home study, i tried to answer at least100-200questions per day to familiarize myself with answering so many questions. (our reviewer told us to try answering at least 265-300questions per day because during the actual nclex, you don't know if you're going to have the maximum # of questions or not. by getting used to answering 200++ questions per day while you were still reviewing will lessen the stress and feeling of fatigue and being "drained") percentage of topics youre very familiar with on the actual nclex questions? 100% i haven't encountered some pharmacology items in the nclex when i was still in school, but thank god i was able to encounter them while answering review questions!!!=) it really pays to answer tons and thousands of questions during the review. what did you feel after you finish your exam? right after the exam, i feel confident and happy that i passed. our reviewer told us that if your questions keep getting harder then your on your way to passing. but if the questions keeps getting easier, you have to think twice already. during the latter part of my nclex, i keep getting the "select all that apply" type of questions one item after another. so i was thinking "this is it!" but when i'm not so sure with my answers in the select all and i know i didn't get it right, the next question would revert to multiple choice, and if i get it right, the next item is select all again... a week after the exam and until i received the envelope, my confidence started to wane and i started thinking again about my nclex experience. i started to worry that maybe i failed after all... then i received the envelope and i didn't open it first. i prayed a short prayer of thanksgiving. after that, i felt confident again that i passed (the same confidence i felt when right after i finished nclex), and after opening the envelope: i indeed passed!!!:d:d

Are you still in Cebu? As far as I know, fingerprint cards from US (e.g. IL, NY, NJ, Cali, etc.) are brought to NBI-Carriedo (in Manila). Go to 6th flr and you will fill out some information in a record book there. Then go to 5th flr to have your card fingerprinted. You'll encounter a lot of nurses going to US with there fingerprint cards on the 6th flr. Try calling your local NBI office if you have to go to NBI-Carriedo or if your local NBI is allowed to do that.

I also applied at BON-IL and now I'm a US RN in IL. I applied last year and I did not submit ED-NUR because it's only for US educated nurses, unless they've already changed their process. I suggest that applicants read the packet very carefully and understand what is written there, especially the instructions. This will avoid wasting money and time.

Hi! I guess what you've heard is just a rumor. The board topnotcher was hired indeed by UST, but not at the USTHospital (because of the "freeze hiring" status). The topnotcher was hired by the UST College of Nursing, I think even before the board results were out because I've heard she's an honor student and a really good one. She's an "assistant" to one of the professors there. Maybe she's take up MAN already.:nuke:

Hi! I know someone (I think around batch 2000) and she's HBV positive. She was able to work at Cardinal Santos (ICU) for a couple of years. At that time, I think she's also undergoing treatments for her condition. She also has goiter then. Right now, she's already in the U.S. working at Neuro ICU.:wink2: I'll ask her about this when she calls. :)

i guess that's right:D.. i remember when i was reviewing for nclex some of my classmates were asking our instructor about their brown passports because it doesn't have a line for their signature. i think the dfa corrected the problem already.

I totally agree!!! I'm a June'07 passer and a lot of my batchmates from my school are still unemployed in the nursing profession, and we're only 400++. (At least 50% are still unemployed or underemployed, i.e. call centers, or waiting for their training or waiting to be absorbed.) When I had my BLS and First Aid training last July, most of us there are batch '06 & '07 and unemployed. And now there's batch '08!!!:eek: And in about 6months, batch '09! Just imagine the sheer number of nurses graduating! I bet unemployed nurses would probably reach 1million soon if nursing schools are not regulated. I read in the newspaper (Inquirer) that there's at least 400,000 unemployed nurses all over the Philippines. Well, that's to be expected since a lot hospitals are not hiring. There's too many nurses but very few job opportunities locally. In other countries, there are opportunites however you need to have experience first. So it goes back to the issue (our main problem really) that there's almost no job vacancies here. Hence, it's really hard to get the experience required of us to work abroad. :smackingf

my recently expired passport was the green one, but when i renewed it, it was already the brown passport. there's a signature part there at the last page..

hi mcnursie! i just called afp medical center and they told me that they are not hiring...:confused: but i'll still go there on monday!!! i was supposed to go today but i wasn't able to. is it ok to go there on monday and have my exam? or should i go there before monday and have myself scheduled for an exam on monday? please help me..:)

They are giving priorities to their graduates; however, the waiting time is still so loooong!!!:down:

i think bank drafts are used for such payments... go to a bank and have your payment (in dollars) be made into a bank draft/cheque.. but different banks have different policies (e.g. you have to have an account in their bank)

hi! is your passport the green one? anyway, as long as your passport is not expired and you have your signature there, you can use it for nclex. when i took nclex, my passport at that time was not machine readable too (green passport)... good luck on your nclex!!!:rckn:

I also applied at USTH last year(2007!:zzzzz:zzzzz:zzzzz) and it was in their website that they were currently hiring at that time. The requirements (initial) were in their website too. It includes cover letter, resume, tor, prc ID, prc rating, prc certificate of passing.. I can't remember the rest but I'm sure they'll post it again when they resume hiring. During my time, the process was like this: 1st exam - IQ, personality HR interview 2nd exam - clinical interview by the nursing service By the way, after the 1st exam, you'll be given a list of requirements to complete before you'll be scheduled for an interview. :offtopic:I strongly suggest that you apply in various hospitals (where you want to work, not just any hospital) because hiring at the moment for nurses is at a snail's pace and competition is very tough locally. This will give you a lot of options and opportunities career-wise. Also, try attending seminars and skills training while waiting for these hospitals because it's a plus. (PNA offers a lot of these post-graduate trainings/seminars.) :twocents:

Hi! If they are not currently hiring, I suggest that you don't give them your resume just yet. After all they've clearly stated that they have "freeze hiring for nurses". Aside from the fact that the HR might be annoyed, your resume might get lost at this time. Since you mentioned "distinct" nurse, do you possess any special skills, achivements, or recognitions that you think will be a plus to your application? I have a friend who is a magna cum laude of UST who applied at USTH after passing the boards last year. And guess what, until now the application is still pending (--he's not yet for training though he finished the exams and interview already early this year). The only exception I know in USTH with regard to hiring is that you have to have a "backer" if you want to be hired fast. The RN daughter of a prominent surgeon in that hospital was hired in just a couple of months after applying whereas "common" people who applied before her are still waiting. Why don't you try applying in hospitals which are currently hiring? Examples of such hospitals as far as I know are V. Luna, Medical City, St. Lukes-Global City.. Also try searching this site for more information or call the other hospitals where you're interested to work and ask them about their hiring status for RNs. :twocents:

hi! i suggest that you try calling their training office...:nuke: or you can go there (in complete uniform) and take the qualifyng exam already (unless they won't allow you--- but you have to ask why!) remember: according to mcnursie, they're hiring until november17 only (mondays and wednesdays only)... meaning we only have 3days left.

Hi! I have a friend who is also interested in applying at KSA-MOH @ POEA. She wants to know if her private duty nurse experience (her only post-graduate experience) will "Count" as an experience? If so, how's the employment certificate? She told me that her first patient is in USA already and her second cancer patient already died just this September. Also will that be an advantage to her, salary-wise? Or not since it's not hospital work experience... Please help my friend. We're planning to apply together at KSA this November. Thanks.

hi mcnursie! so i'll just go to their training office monday/wednesday and i'll be given a qualifying exam already--that same day?? or will i be given an exam date/schedule? when should i give the requirements (resume, tor, etc.)? (sorry if i have many questions. from what i've encountered in other hospitals i've applied to, i have to give them first the initial requirements before i'll have an exam). thanks for the help! by the way, you've taken the qualifying exam already? how was it?:)

Hi, it's me again! Is there a placement fee if I applied through POEA and not through an agency? What other fees will I have to pay? Can anyone please give me an estimate? (so I'll know if I have to borrow money from my mother or sister...) Also, can somebody clarify this: if someone applied through POEA/Saudi-MOH, you won't know the exact hospital you're going to be assigned until you reach KSA, but if someone applied through an agency, you must already know the hospital prior to leaving the Philippines? Did I get this right? (this is my "Temporary" conclusion based on what I read from this thread.) Thank you!!!

Hi! I'm a newbie here at allnurses.com I'm an inexperienced R.N. batch 2007. I'm a June 2007 board passer. I'm waiting for my U.S. visa. (My P.D. is August 11, 2008.) I'm interested in applying at KSA because it's really difficult to find a job here in the Philippines and I really want to have an experience. I applied as an ESL teacher this October and after only 2 weeks of training (out of 1month), we trainees were terminated because the company was downsizing and cost-cutting. So I decided to really pursue my nursing career. A few months ago, I started to consider KSA but I'm not so sure because of safety issues. But after my termination, I'm now seriously considering it. I joined this site, primarily, to help me decide a future career in KSA. Please help me. *In my resume, is it an advantage or not to include that I already passed NCLEX and IELTS? *Do you think there will still be visa retrogression (in US) for at least a year or 2 years? I'm hoping that I'll be back in the Phils. when my visa becomes available. *What is DELEGATION? I read that there's a "delegation" next month, but I don't know what it is. Sorry... *Will the employers get our passports when we go to KSA? I heard that some employers keep their employees' passports and I think that is very RISKY and scary as well.
