  1. Hi NP Gilly... personally im a bit disappointed with the RN hiring here in california...Im a newly immigrant here in ca from philippines, been here for 1 year and im a currently california RN licensed holder. I have 8 years experienced as a medical surgical nurse,OR,ER,PICU and surgery. The hospital i worked in the philippines is 250 bed capacity ISO hospital going to the level of JCAHO.Not to boost, i had my masters degree in nursing with supervisory/ teaching experience in the nursing academe (hospital based). I applied several hospitals here in our area(sacramento) unfortunately all my application in hospital in here was turndowned since they looked up my california hospital experience. How can i have my california hospital experienced when im just new in here...thats why im applying....thinking they would consider my 8 years experience in the philippines as a nurse...considering that the hospital i been employed is 250 bed capacity with ISO status leading to JCAHO...honestly its one of the biggest hospital in the philippines. Im a bit dis appointed. The only reply i dont like is that they said they will prioritize graduates here in america....thats truly discriminating..not equal job oppurtunities for everyone!!!what do you think??? Im so upset....what can you advised me?
  2. Its very interesting idea from Hoss...PNA the highest legislating body of The nursing profession...must act on it now...after all its for the betterment of the nursing profession. Be vigilant on whats truly the real happening....shape NURSING PROFESSION In the PHILIPPINES to be truly valued not being devalued...my fellow nurses be assertive in realizing this CHANGE....
  3. Hi baldo Rn, Im also a Filipino , with CAlifornia license RN in here in USA. Actually, being an MSN or MAN graduate does not make you easier to come over here in america to work as an RN. To be here, you must passed your nclex and find a employer to sponsor you to work over here. This time of retrogression here in USA, even Filipino immigrant with US- RN licensed already here have difficulty finding jobs in the hospital because most of the hospital here would not credit philippines worked experienced.. they only credit hospital experienced here in america, thats why many are ending working in the hospice or nursing homes. Its true...MAN or MSN holder does not lauched jobs that easily.
  4. Hi there taimanov.... Are you trying to compare between the stress and level of difficulty for NCLEX exam & MSN/MAN. Based on my experienced, before i come over here in california...i finished my MASTERS OF ARTS in NURSING with thesis there in the phils . I finished my masters in 2 years, aside from academic requirements from different subjects.. you have to pass the comprehensive exam for thesis writing, before thesis proposal to finally conduct a research study. Onced you passed it.. you undergo the different steps for reserach study and finally the final defense of your thesis before you can graduate to graduate school. Its stressful due to several corrections of your study then research and submit . I spend sleepless nights yet it needs deligence and patience especially in scrutinizing the research study. I can say the level of difficulty is 7 and the stress level is 5 because it can be managed as long as your persistent on pursuing to achieved your goal. In NCLEX its totally different....stress level is 10.. difficulty level is 10. WHY? In Nclex it is an entry level exam....meaning they want to test your knowledge on different nursing categories...you will never know what type of exam that the computer gives you. In order to pass the exam you must maintained an aboved the passing rate in all categories, not near the passing rate. The type of exam given is based on the performance on how you critically asessed and answer each question. The question that is given to other nclex examiner is totally different from other examiner also. Its totally different from NLE exam in the phils and also the CGFNS. In Nclex questions you have to based the american standard of nursing care. The questions are created with IVY towering rationales....thats why , NCLEX is the most difficult exam ive encountered in my whole life with all the SATA's and tons of prioritization, physiologicaladaptation, precautions, delegation, assignment based on different nursing concepts & Application and also meds that never been heard in the philippines....Im not trying to scare you.. but its reality. Ive been a nurse educator in the phils...yet its totally different....atlast i beat NCLEX and im a California RN license. Thanks GOD...Im challenging to continue pursuing your goals both of it... NCLEx and mSN/MAN degree, I knew you can do it. The road is a bit thorny... just have FOCUS, be courageous and determined on what you do....it spells SUCCESS. Have faith and pray to GOD always.
  5. Hi there...Ive been a product of brokenshire College davao before the second course for nursing was adopted. Before I come over here in california i was able to serve my alma mater as a clinical instructor...after years of observation about second courser nursing program...personally ...i recommend they have to go through the original 4 years nursing program.Brokenshire Original 4years nursing program makes it the best which produces knowledgeable and competent nurses all around the globe. Thistime the second courser program had been demolished by the CHED- Commission on higher education based on standardization for nursing curriculum that every school should be abide. Im happy that each nursing student should gone through a process of pre -requisite step by step curriculum not the short cut and fast track .
  6. Hi there... I dont think so it matters with gray or blue color....it depends on your NCLEX performance on the computer. In my experience...the computer did not shutdown i was run out of time at 250 items the computer turns gray... i cried that time because they said ...thats a sign of failure but THANKS GOD after 2 days, my cousin texted me i PASSED the nClex with my name on www.rn.gov. Im so happy...just hold on and pray. trust in God and you will made it!!!
  7. Hi Callioter3, I saw your post in here.. im taking too the nclex-RN examination last April 7, 2009...My God ....the computer did not shut down until i ran out of time at 250 questions. Im so exhausted coz i have 3o satas, 6 computations, 3 questions arrange in order .. lots of head cracking critical thinking questions priortization, and 18.. drugs..medsurgs etc. This time I cannot sleep well and im anxious too because the computer did not shut down until i ran out of time. 9. Hello Eosaeni and people from here, Hallu there, i got also same situation with you, just today when i handed this big envelope i knew i failed again for the second time, my hands and knees were trembling, i shouted and cried out of desperation. Its my second time of taking this nclex then after all i Failed again. Im so frustrated and have a big arguments with my husband due to this NCLEX exam. I first took the nClex last Aug. 8, 2008 i failed ending at 75 questions. My husband wants me to pass so he send me to a live 7 weeks NCLEX lecture in WISCONSIN which we pay 400 dollars per week plus the extension review. Actually the lecturer is very good and she very intelligent and well verse in NCLEX but what had happened is that she is too fast in questioning , so i took again the Nclex exam last OCt 17, 2008, 2nd time around ..hoping i will pass, ended again at 75, unfortunately knew the result just today but i FAILED. My husband so frustrated and lost trust in me coz she knew me in my nursing years .....that im good in my class as he said and im practicing as staff nurse and clinical instructor in a known nursing school in my country and to bet im one of the good CI with masters degree in nursing. I dont knew what happened to me here. Im so frustrated also, in my review class i got good grades during exams and application. My lecturer even told me that im good in critical thinking and she is confident that i can pass but sad to say i FAILED!!! Its still my 6 months here in america since my arrival. Im afraid .. and the 2 exams i took was so frustrating...that i considered the desperating moments here in USA. It was not a good experience for me and im traumatized with my nCLEX exam result. Now, we had a big argument with my husband coz he could not beleive i FAILED, after all paying the Costly NCLEX review and my husband so annoyed. I dont knew what to do im so down and depress, I cannot speak with my husband and im ashamed with my husband family who are NURSES and doctors in here. All of them have higher expectations in me and they could not beleive hearing the result i failed. I dont knew what to do? I dont have face to see them anymore, my family, my friends etc. This time i lost confidence in myself anymore. Everyday i prayed also and ask gods guidance ......sooooooooooo dOwwnnnnnnnnnnnn!!! Pls gave me any advise on what to do and when should i take the NCLEX.. my husband wants me to take NCLEX exam again this 2nd week of DECEMBER, what do you think i can make this for the 3rd time? Pls HELP. any word of encouragement and advices. Im completely insane this time. Any words of advice is highly appreciated. Need somebody from here to vent my AGONY
