  1. Oh, that's seems very strange. My Uni get all educational supplies for students even uniform for placement. And when I am on placement I can practice IV fluid anytime I want to, without buying supplies. I bought nothing except a lab gown. That's it. xxx.
  2. For those who were asking how to apply in Singapore, the MOH in Singapore just replied to and OK'd to send you guys his email. pm me for those interested
  3. As I wrote, I did not use any agency. Two representative from the Ministry of Health came to my Uni and gave us an orientation. I just sent an email to this guy who came to my Uni to recruit. I ask him if I can send you guys his email address. I hope this is clear. Cheers. xxx
  4. Hi, I don't know any agency. There were two representatives from the Ministry of Health of Singapore that went to my University and gave an orientation and then later we were ask to send applications using their form for those interested. I will try and send an email to this guy and see if I can forward you their emails. Cheers. xxx
  5. Whether you are a nurse or not, you behave they way you are and how you cope with health condition. I have had cared for patients who are nurses some were understanding and some where not so demanding. Also, I have cared for retired GPs and they are very understanding for student nurse like me. I don't like the cartoons because it gives bad stereotype to nurses. Cheers xxx
  6. Hi Sharrie Lovely to hear from you. There is not many job in the region where I am. So maybe down to London and there is also a job in Singapore in fact there is an interview in March. But I don't know which country offer better professional development. Any idea about Nursing in Singapore? Best wishes xxx
  7. Hello Sharrie and Ayla, Hope everything goes well with you both. Time flies so quickly and I am nearly heading towards the end of my training. I'm just about to start my critical care placement and Im so excited about it, though nervous. Then I will do my 12weeks consolidation in the summer, and that would be me ready to be a registered nurse. I am enjoying my training though can be tough but I am very satified, my Uni is really very suportive and like most of nurses in the ward. Well, I will be completely skint after this course. hahaha. hope I can find a job soon. Cheers xxx
  8. Hi I am planning to apply for a job in Singapore. Do you mind if you can share with me how it was like working in Singapore? Were you satisfied and felt supported in relation to career development? How was the pay? In the UK, nurse starting salary is £21,176 and in London area around £25,000/yr. Do you think Singapore offers better salary? Thanks so much for your time. xxx
  9. how about giving up a UN job to become a nurse? I have enjoyed such a highly well recognised job but I was looking for satisfaction. So, whatever our motivation to become a nurse I hope we put our patient first and demonstrate more empathy, care and compassion. I am now doing my nursing training programme in first year and I am loving it and no regret giving up my UN job!
  10. Hi, I have an EU citizenship and I am able to study in the UK. I knew of someone, who has been living outside of the EU since her childhood but able to study in the UK. So as Silverdragon said, it's better to contact the Uni first as they know better and also, not all Uni have the same, requirements. It's worth a try. As this was excatly what I did before I got in. Success!
  11. Thank you Sharrie and rgnscot, Actually, I have done all the research already. I also visited both unis but it seems to me that both Unis are excellent, that's why I find it hard to decide. Anyway, I think I will go for Glasgow uni. rgscot, thanks again for sharing your personal learning experience. best wishes, baliling
  12. Hi Sherrie, Ayla and Everyone, I need to make up my mind and accept an offer between Glasgow University and Uni of Abertay Dundee. Please share insights and which Uni is better than the other, and why? I can't decide which Uni i should choose. Your opinion is highly appreciated. many thanks
  13. Hi Sharrie and Ayla, Hope you are doing fine. i just got invited for interview from one of the Unis I applied in Scotland and had a telephone interview last week from Glasgow Uni. they invited me for the summer school programme since I had studied biology, chemistry long time ago. I'm really excited, I'm just waiting for confirmation letter from Glasgow within this week, hopely I'll be in glasgow by 1st of June to attend the summer school. If does not materialise I still have two options. Would be glad to hear any tips for the interview. I knew Ayla mention some already but if you have more to add. it would be highly appreciated. At the moment I am so busy doing two voluntary works in an elderly insti. and hospital, at least I could mention these on the interview. many thanks for all your help and prayers. peace!
  14. Hello, though I'm not currently living in the Philippines but i follow current issues. If your goal is only to find a hospital in Manila to take u as a volunteer, i'm afraid you have limited chance but if u take a riskier approach u might find one, a lot exciting, interesting experience. Many remote areas in the philippines need nurses but only few nurses are willing to take the opportunity. If you really care go to places where people barely see or meet a nurse! good luck and success!
  15. Thanks Sharrie and Ayla, i'm just thinking, if i don't get an offer from any of the Unis i have applied, I am planning to take NA/CA training and phlebotomy. i really want to start learning this year, though currently, I have 3 different voluntary works as caregiver for elderly and persons with disabilities, from this work I am learning to assists clients with mobility equipments such as rollator, wheel chair, walker, safely assist clients getting out of the car. I do "light" stuffs. So, I am wondering where can i do these training, and how to apply? thanks.
