Welcome to Tyler and I wish u the best. TMF is a fantastic hospital, well organized too. I have worked for both ETMC and Mothers as a Nurse extern and I love TMF very much. I work on the telemetry unit and it is awesome. I say u have a good job offer!!!

@ Lifelong, are u employed by the hospital? Do u or can u work in clinics? Do u go back to an office of some sort to do paper work? Can uset up a practice if u wanted to or would u have to get an Adult NP License for that? I want to be an ACNP but do not want to be in the ICU all the time. thanks!!

Hi AGRNA, congrats on ur admission!! I hope u don't mind me asking you some questions. How long did u work in the CVICU? I plan to work at methodist too and really like CVICU. Do they have an internship program or do u have to intern in the other ICUs before CV? I learnt they are in a hiring freeze now, how bad is it? What is the best route to the methodist CVICU?

I am in a 4 yr nursing program presently but once considered the ADN program. I just want to say that it is time for the board of nursing or whoever makes the decision to make some changes. Its not a 2-yr nursing program, I believe u need some prereqs even b4 application. It takes about 3yrs to get an ADN in nursing. Why is it still called a 2yr program? Its annoying sometimes!!!

As much as I am not a CRNA or MDA, I'm wondering what will happen to MDA's in this situation. Will there cost and length of education be reduced? Will they pay less for their education? Will the entire profession be wiped out and all those interested in anesthesia can go the CRNA route. If this happens, what will happen to supply and demand? Will CRNA's be happen with their pay at this point? I think my med surg instuctor calls stuff like this ripple effect.

IMHO, the RN as well as the CNA were responsible for the pt. If u write the CNA up, u should do same to RN/LVN or not do it at all. U can also call the CNA and hear what she has to say b4 d write up. Just my 2cents.

I think u made the right decision and Ben Taub will give u all the trauma u need. I come from "the country with oil in it too."

Hello, I'm nigerian too, from abia state. I'm happy to meet Nigerian CRNA's/SRNA's. BTW, I'm addicted to this website. This is where I vent when my brain is full of nursing philosiphies.

I am a student nurse and would have cleaned it. I have a very strong gag reflex esp with poop but I would use a paper towel first, then a wash cloth.I'll probably wear a mask with mint rubbed in it if it smells horrible. If after cleaning it still smells bad, then I will call for housekeeping. However, I will also prioritize. 4.5hrs is not healthy for u and the patient and its more difficult to clean when dry. My opinion!!!

I want to be a CVOR. Do I have to do general surgery before picking a specialty? Do you think I need a telemetry experience first? I eventually want to be a cardiac nurse practitioner, what will benefit me the most- CCU or CVOR? I posted this thread b4 but with a wrong title. Thanks for your replies!!
