  1. Was your interview a two part process? I was contacted and it will be a medical director interviewing me.
  2. Thank you soooooo much for taking the time to share with me! Those are great questions as I am not exposed to this area. The pros you mention is what is definitely reeling me in to this career. Yes I keep thinking about no down time, but to think of it I rarely have downtime where I work. I'm always running once I hit the floor. If I have downtime its a miracle! I will keep you update on my decision. Yes I understand each job has its stress and that is going to be any job. =) One thing I am looking forward to this job if I get a offer is honing on my critical thinking and assessment skills. This is the challenge I am looking forward to. Do you work for a clinic or for a hospital? Do you keep a bedside job as PRN?
  3. Congrats!! Did you do your preceptorship in NICU? How did you land a job there?
  4. I am also looking into this transition. I just finished the first interview with recruiter. My next one is with a MD. Can you please help me with what kind of questions I should be prepared for? It is a outpatient urgent clinic. Thank you!!!
  5. I have only worked for less than a year and am looking into transitioning to be an advice nurse. The eligibility for this position the experience is not needed. Experienced triage nurses what are your thoughts? Has anyone gone through this transition? How was it like? What do you recommend in preparation? What are the pros/cons? I am curious with the liability I'll have to take on giving medical advices over the phone and trying to prepare myself as much as possible before accepting a job. Any information would be of appreciation!!! Thank you in advance.
  6. Glad you got a call. How did it go?
  7. Yes it is a bummer. The waiting game is on. =) Good luck to you too staryeyed.
  8. I'm so sorry to hear that. We shall see what happens. =)
  9. Did anyone applied to the Cohort 2011 RN residency at Legacy Health?
  10. In is often enough there are opportunities, but its just harder to look for them. Remember in the mean time to build your self to be a better candidate this is the time. You got this far so that says a lot of your accomplishments. Now it is time to put your action into practice. How long ago did you graduate and what have you tried besides applying to hospitals?
  11. You been given such great advice and I love your positive outlook on the situations thrown out there! I will be participating in the application process soon for the July Cohort. =)
  12. Do you think if I work as a CNA that will better my resume?
  13. Congrats on your mission to getting your job!
  14. Lookinrn is right! I'm rooting you on. I have another year of nursing school then off to the job hunt i'll be. Hopefully that will be in Portland, OR! Good luck.
  15. How is the hiring in Portland, Oregon now? Do you know of any internship in this area?
  16. I got my scores back the same day. I think it depends on the facility.
  17. Thanks for all the tips you all!! I will try this all out and lets see where my journey takes me.
  18. So, I'm thinking about getting my CNA license and was wondering how long did you study for the test? On a scale from 1-10 and 10 being the hardest what would you rate the written portion of the test? What helped you along the way to study the material? I am not a good test taker so that's why I'm asking all these questions to try to get the feel of how it is.
  19. It's better that you look it up yourself because that will help you remember it forever. Try using medicinenet.com
  20. Thanks Courtney for the reminder! I feel so bummed out because I just bombed my first MSII test. Yes you are right, it is a lot more material. I tend to forget these books have CDS because I get so wrapped up in the notes and lectures. =X I'm going to try this resource. =)
  21. Thanks for your tips! I'll let you know how it goes. Yes I have a problem of changing my answers because mine is computerized and I can't go back and look at the question again. So that's why I have this second guessing problem too. =( But yes I know it's for my benefit that I won't change any answers from here on out. I am recording the lectures and transcribing them onto my notes. The only thing I need to do like you said was re-read them over and over. Yes NCLEX type questions, Do you know of any sites that I can get access to them for free?
  22. I notice that a lot of the question that I messed up on is the knowledge questions. I have got so use to critical thinking questions that when a knowledge question comes my way I get mixed up. I'm always second guessing myself when I am taking the exam. Did you ever dealt with this? and if you did how did you deal with it?
  23. When you said you didn't need the tutoring and you go anyways, what do you pick to brush up on? and is it one on one tutoring?
