Easiest and Toughest Classes In UT Arlington RN-BSN Program
Hi everyone! I am an RN who is interested in going on for BSN at UTA. I read through some of the posts and was wondering exactly how difficult is the online aspect. I have always gone traditional, but have no time and need to spend the least amount of cash that I can to pursue this. I am good with the computer. Also, how hard are the courses? Do they accept alot of previous courses or not? Any help from anyone who knows would be very helpful. Also, is there a clinical component?

School Nursing Emergency Medication Administration
My question is: Under an emergency situation, (ie. asthmatic attack) can a nebulizer treatment be administered without an order? I have searched high and low and can't find an answer. Also tried the Nurse Practice Act, which doesn't address it. How about an anaphylactic reaction (ie. bee sting)? Can an Epi pen be used without an order? I feel the answers to these questions are both no and call 911, but really need input... Any sources? I really appreciate any help!!

New RN's...do you have a job ?
I'm so sorry to hear your dilemma. I wish you luck and hope you find something soon. I think we are victims of a bad economy. We have to keep trying.

New RN's...do you have a job ?
What's awful is that we were lead to believe there is a shortage of nurses when there actually isn't. My friends and family seem confused when they hear I don't have a job yet. Everyone says "there's a shortage- you should be able to find something easily". What a joke. I continue to apply and look every day, but I am quickly losing hope. I had a good job before, and sometimes feel dumb to have given up a sure thing. I'm also sick of hearing of others who find a job so easily in other states. Good for you - but you don't have to brag!

ATI Testing
I just graduated and ATI was the provider of our predictor exam. It was definitely passable. I only used NCLEX review books and I passed no problem in the 95th percentile. Just practice a lot of questions and study NCLEX books and you will be fine. Those other review books are expensive and are almost the same.

Going crazy!!! Waiting on nclex results!!!
Just took the NCLEX Monday and still no results posted. I feel like I might have failed. There were many select all that could apply questions. They said two business days! It is exactly 48 hours since I finished the exam. Any insights? These have been the worst days of my life. :redbeathe:heartbeat:uhoh3:

Scared Of Poop!!!!!!!!! Help!!!!!!!
Don't worry. It's not the worst thing you'll run into during nursing. I had every C-diff patient there was during my clinicals. After the first one, you get used to it.

Hang in there new Grads and New Nurses it does get better..I PROMISE
Thanks for your inspiring story. I wish I could be half the nurse you are. I am not good at being eaten up and spit out. There are many days I wonder why I ever changed professions. It was so much easier before. The patients are NEVER the problem. The staff is. Experienced nurses act like you are stupid and don't want to help you when you have a question or problem. I had one nurse say to me "sink or swim baby". I will try to move on and hope eventually I find my niche.

Do you like day or night shift better and why?
Days are more convenient, but harder. Nights are definitely easier with little or no administration around. If I were older without kids I would probably pick nights.:typing

Overworked in Nursing Homes
Thanks. I tried to get through to the board of nursing and it's impossible. I can call my local board of health, or is there another division I need to call?

Do you have your own malpractice insurance?
There is a standard that they offer. I think it's a million per incident. I inquired when I purchased it and they told me that is all I would need unless I was an NP. They are good about guiding you. Go online and get their phone number. It's better if you call. You get more info and it's easier to comprehend. Good luck!

Overworked in Nursing Homes
I'm a new nurse and working in a nursing home. It is impossible to get all your work done in 8 hours! I struggle daily with med pass, treatments and the billions of papers needed to be completed. How do nurses do it? I have been told to take "short cuts" but don't want to. I have even had "seasoned" nurses tell me to only give important meds and just sign off on the others. I am frustrated and discouraged. I love nursing but never thought it would be like this. Does anyone know who I could contact to complain about this? The nursing home is grossly understaffed and patients are in danger. I can't sleep knowing that this is going on and have to report it. The establishment doesn't seem to care. Help!!

Do you have your own malpractice insurance?
definitely!!! i use nso. it's only $100 yearly and well worth it. they will cover everything and you don't even have to worry about your employer. i learned in school that it was essential to have your own insurance in case your employer doesn't back you up. a small price to pay for security, especially if you have something to lose. don't hesitate. you wouldn't drive without insurance.:twocents:

Cant Find A Job!
I live in northern NJ and have been looking for a job for months now. Any suggestions on how to secure a job as a new graduate. Unfortunately, most places want experience. How do you get experience if no one offers it. Have checked Craigs list daily and mailed out hundreds of resumes. I am starting to look in want ads for something under my old career. What happened to the nursing shortage! They tell you in school you will have many opportunities, but that hasn't been my experience.
