how do i accept failure? how do i be calm in an overstressing environment?
I am not sure if you have it or not but try reading saunders comprehensive book for the nclex. Still read your text book, but nclex review books help break it down so that it is easier to understand. Hope it helps...

Surgeons, ugh.
some docs just suck period. I would tell them you don't have to raise your voice and you would appreciate a little respect. Once you tell them kindly, they usually remember that.

Are there any positives to being a nurse?
I think there are a lot of negatives in nursing, mostly because of the greedy big business society. Most nurses get into this wanting to help people get better but the politics beheind it is what makes it bad. One day maybe all the nurses will satnd up and say I am not going to take it anymore!!

HELP! Husband is depressing me! NEED ADVICE!
If you really want to become a nurse, then iagree with the previous poster. Make your studies your number one priority. Study when the baby is sleeping or try to find someone who you trust who does not mind baby sitting for a few hours a day while you study. You might feel as though you are neglecting some things, which you probably will be, but these sacrafices are only temp.

Dream time!
I see there were no replies to this topic, I wondered why nurses don't fight for more things like ideal work situations. I am a new grad lpn and I am kind of scared to start working because of the horror stories. More than likely I will be in ltc with like 40 to 60 patients. I thought was crazy, but the more I read from this site the more it seems like it is the norm for nurses to be over worked!!

Raises and pay rates....
That is a hard question to answer. But in most cases people get a 3% min cost of living raise at least. Working ot can make your take home pay go up quick, but you have to be careful not to get burned out.
