  1. Wow, I'm not even going to pretend I know what you're going through, but from an outsider point of view, would it be better if she wasn't so nice? Or is it only because you know she's going to die? If it was me, I'd think it would be better to heartbreakingly care for someone you like and give them YOUR care since they so much appreciate it, rather than to another patient who might not even care about you or your service to them. ..but since I've never been in your situation, I really can't say what I would end up doing at the end. Hope you do what's best.
  2. Good luck to the both of you! Smaller meals and exercise will be the order of the day. You'd think after going on so many diets, we'd all be experts by now. Regarding the smaller meals, the hardest thing is to pre-plan all your meals. If you don't, you'll likely end up eating out more often than not (although you guys seem pretty motivated right now). How about getting 5 small bowls and filling them with food? Than, you can take one out and eat it every 3 hours to fill the day? (that'll be the 15 hours you'll be up). Another idea I thought about in trying to control the food portions was to have a small bowl, and at each meal, you can eat whatever healthy you can fit into it.
  3. How about working for medical software companies?
  4. Sexually harrassing a patient SUUUCKS!! I feel bad for you. I don't even know what to say. I wish I could just tell you to report the bastard and everything will work out, but I don't know your hospital. My mom, many years ago, went through restructuring at her hospital. Lay-offs, rumors of selling off the hospital.. but at the end, time took care of everything. Everyone's still there and she's getting ready to retire. This happened years back, but time will take care of most issues. Best of luck to you and hope everything works out!
  5. Thanks for the explanation... I'm still in school so I don't have a lot of ideas regarding issues like this... if it's even an issue at all :)
  6. Like the other poster said, I think (hope) he said it just to play around. Most men (or women) don't get into a profession to "find chicks", unless you're a Chip 'N Dales dancer and even then it's not all of them. I think he just had a brain fart and got overheard. I don't see women going into a business management role to "find guys" where many are male dominant. What makes the guy an idiot/jerk is that he's married. Stupid. kafene.
  7. Man, I feel for you. That was one of the classes I really struggled in. I don't think it would have been so bad if I was a full time student, but I was working at the beginning portion of the class and it was a struggle after starting off badly... Good luck ! I'm sure you'll make it at the end kafene.
  8. Wow.. as a nursing student, that's pretty daunting I'll now have to look for the "Why I LIKE the nursing profession" thread and hope that the list is longer ! kafene.
  9. LOL.. I also have NO problem with the girl making more money 8) kafene.
  10. i'm currently a student, but every time i go through a rotation, i find that my interests change! it's cool that this profession can allow moves like yours. kafene.
  11. You're not talking specifically about RN's, right? You pretty much mean any guy who makes less than the girl. I guess some guys do, but most probably don't.
  12. All I gotta say is, you better have some people skills. I'm taking about it all: patients, co-workers, and doctors!! 8)
  13. I don't know if ignoring would work with me. First "offense", sure. Second? MAYBE, but by the third, you definitely haven't gotten the body cues and it needs to be dealt with... Luckily, I'm a student who hasn't had a bad doctor.. yet.
