  1. I am currently out on disability, for 4 years now. (my license is currently on hold due to medical reasons). I have persistent nausea & vomiting, myasthenia gravis, SLE, and a whole other slew of medical problems. The poly-pharmacy is a huge problem and concern of mine, at one point (prior to MMJ) I was on 33 medications daily, most of them 4 -6 times a day. Since starting MMJ I have been able to stop 7 prescription drugs. You can NOT tell me that you really think the side effects from those 7 medications are equal or less harmful than use of MMJ (especially if you knew how many liver and kidney complications some of those medications have caused me). Prior to getting ill, I still have been a supporter of marijuana - I think acetaminophen has potential to be far more harmful and dangerous than marijuana does. I get that from the countless number of teens I have seen all around the country (traveling ER nurse) who took a bottle of tylenol for attention seeking. Close to 20% of them having ended up in the PICU and on the liver transplant list. I also believe that as marijuana legalizing and use increases, that we will see a decrease in prescription drug abuse. A decrease in prescription drug use & abuse could have a significantly positive impact on the current issues we face with heroin. Take a moment to think about the cycle that is commonly seen with (now) heroin users. And as a side note: The more legalization of marijuana allows for legitimate studies to be done. This is important for everyone, but I believe will allow for peace of mind for those who may have misinformed bias against it. Additionally this could allow for deeper studies to see if any illnesses or diseases can be reduced or even eradicated - information we will never have without proper studies and studies with a substantial number of patients (vs. the bare minimum). I see a lot of misinformation roaming around on this post and thought I would provide some active bills and laws in CONGRESS that have been introduced or passed. Ending Federal Marijuana Prohibition Act of 2015 S.2237 S.2237 - 114th Congress (2
  2. access nursing is horrible. the recruiters very closely resemble used car salesmen, and seem to care little if at all about the rns as individuals. i can;t comment on the benefits because i got coerced to take a higher hourly wage and told i could pick up benefits on my next assignment with a 2 weeks lapse. wrong. i took almost a month off and then was told that i couldn't get benefits until open enrollment, almost 1 year later ( i started in january). theonly positive about the company i have found in my near year experience and 3 contracts with an extension is that their housing has been near the facility and in a safe neighborhood.
  3. to my knowledge they are on their own and not affiliated with any other larger company
  4. access is horrible. i rate them a 2. and only reason not a 1 is because their housing arrangements have been good and in safe neighborhoods. i am on my 4th assignment with them, and as my assignment number increased.. so did the amount i got screwed. my recruiter is horrible.. and he is the boss of several other recruiters.. if he doesn't have his 'stuff' together how well do you think the recruiters below him will be? do not recommend.
  5. access is horrible. my first 2 assignments were "ok" i stayed with them because i have a "loyalty gene". i really could kick myself in the butt right now. i have had to go since january with no health benefits. my 'used car salesman' of a recruiter.. coerced me into taking .50 cents more an hour and not take health benefits.. that i could pick them up on my second assignment if i wanted to. wrong. i would have to wait til december for open registration to get them if i want them. to "compensate me" they were reimbursing me with $1 an hour increase. i got to the assignment i am currently on, and found another traveller.. working for access. she is making $2 more and hour with benefits.. talk about not being fair or considering the nurse first. even with her added benfits.. she has had her share of snafus with the company and is switching companies at the end of her assigment as well.. do not recommend. run away!! far far away!!!

did you have a contract? if you didn't have a contract, then you didn't protect yourself. you should always have a contract. ps how long ago was this?
  7. they are supposed to withhold taxes of the state you are working in. you should really invest in 1) scanning all your work documents onto your computer 2) emailing them to yourself so you always have a copy, even if your computer crashes. that would have been a 15 minute fix??
