I am working in a cluster home for MR/DD and I am SOOO tired of direct care staff that think that all of our clients(consumers) should be treated like babies,they range in age from 18-63. On the other hand I love the workers who will take time to put make-up on the ladies before thay go to day program,or comb the guys' hair, My all time biggest beef is parents/families that call to say that bthey bwill visit on a particular date,and then don't show. I am not the hero for taking care of these people,they are the heroes for putting up with me

I was doing a new gain health review at a state facility,when I asked the inmate what type of seizures he experienced he replied"a very deadly type ma'am they are callled psuedo seizures" I stillhuckle everytime I think about it.

baseline the autopsy is not being done at Michael's request or the Schindler's,it is state mandated. So why would there have to be any outside witnesses.

Thank you Tweety,nobody else seems to remember Mr.Schindler ma,ing the statement that the hospice was medicating Terri to speed her death. One of the statements that was made by the family after her death was something about those people who were entrusted with her care having abandoned her,yet it was the hospice that was responsible for maintaing a sense of peace for all involved

I just heard two fairly intellegent young people (13 and 15) discussing "The terri thing" and they were asking why Michael is being crucified for doing what she had been doing to herself before her collapse? A very interesting take on the situation IMHO

Dr.Slaughter passed away about a year and a half ago,he was not only a great surgeon and great writer he had a magnificent sense of humor about his name

I also applaud Michael for requesting an autopsy. I am so tired of this case and all the mis-information that is being thrown around. Whatever happened to HIPPA regulations ? I feel more sorry for the other patient's and families,at this point. The purpose of a hospice in my understanding is to provide a peaceful transition to death,which they are now being denied

The last page of my Florida Living Will Declaration states "Only one witness may be a spouse,blood relative,heir,or person responsible for the patient's health care costs" I had to have two witnesses. My son who lives out of state is my health care surrogate,because I know that my husband and other son will not be able to carry out my wishes. How can anybody say for sure what Terri's wishes were if they are not in writing.

How Terri got to this point is not as much of a problem to me as the fact that the government is now intervening.Is the next stepoing to be court ordered chemo?

I only hope that she is pullingt our legs. It6 would be a shame if there are schools out there(elementary)that are not teaching analog clocks. As far as the nurse precepting who hade never used a "real"B/P cuff,she needs to go back to an LPN program that teaches the basics

I had multiple charges for worthless cheks on my record when I was relicensed in 2002,in Florida. I do not think that a shoplifting charge from that long ago will affect your chances of being able to sit the boards or get a license. Good Luck

My home care patient's mother just called to say that he was having a VATS procedure done this afternoon. I do not want to appear stupid,but can somebody please tell me what it is?

I haven't been fortunate enough to getthe information on being able to do this,but mother of my home care patient told me that a former nurse of theirs is doing it now. I think they said she had to contact Medicaid directly

I just started an hourly home care case with a 7-year old with LGS. I love the independence of making care decisions ,without having to call the MD everytime she sneezes,or farts if you know what I mean, My biggest problem so far is getting Mom and Nana to stop trying to run the show. Any advice ?

Has anybody ever taken care of a child with LGS? I just started a home care case and I am overwhelmed by the ketogenic diet and the lack of information on the syndrome.
