  1. Hi Sweettart RN, Did you find a DNP mentor? There's an online community called "Doctors of Nursing Practice," where they can offer some help or resources. I'm unsure if I can post the link on allnurses. The web site is: doctorsofnursingpractice dot org. Hope that helps.
  2. They offer a certificate in massage techniques. I'm trying to get in touch with an instructor or director of the program to ask questions. I have yet to hear back from them.
  3. I found a massage techniques certificate program at Ashworth College.
  4. Smilingrn1, how is the massage program going for you? So far so good?
  5. Try the American Holistic Nurses Association (AHNA.org) and National Association of Nurse Massage Therapists (NANMT.org) as these are great places to network with others who are interested in the same fields. If you have the opportunity to attend a local association meeting, then that is where you can talk to others who can really help you.
  6. National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB.org) lists accredited massage therapy schools to become a certified massage therapist. You have to check with your state also.
  7. The US Career Institute (in CO) is listed as an accredited NCBTMB school. What I found out about this program is that you can complete the massage therapy courses (at home and self-paced) prior to the on-site training in Colorado. After you finish the massage therapy courses, you have to do 200 hours of on-site training (in 4 weeks) at the US Career Institute in CO. This seems like a good refresher for massage therapy. I don't live in CO, so I would need to rent a place for 4 weeks near the school. I'll ask my nursing colleagues if they would be interested as well. Mtsteelhorse, have you looked into the US Career Institute at Ft Collins, CO? Any thoughts?
  8. The National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork (NCBTMB) lists accredited massage schools in your area. You can find info at: ncbtmb.org
  9. Julielive, do you know if your courses are mainly exams or papers or both?
  10. Pathophysiology Made Incredibly Easy Pathophysiology Made Incredibly Visual Fluids & Electrolytes Made Incredibly Easy Nursing Pharmacology Made Incredibly Easy Assessment Made Incredibly Easy Diagnostic Tests Made Incredibly Easy ___________ For A&P refresher: Anatomy & Physiology Made Incredibly Easy Anatomy & Physiology Made Incredibly Visual ___________ Any of the "... Made Incredibly Easy" or "... Made Incredibly Visual" books could be helpful as supplements, especially if you need to update yourself on certain subjects (Pediatric Nursing, Maternal-Neonatal Nursing, Medical-Surgical Nursing, etc)
  11. St Joseph's College of Maine (SJCME) Online has an online self-paced RN-BSN, and MSN. They may have a Bachelors degree in criminal justice. Just check out their web site. Aspen University has a Bachelors in Criminal Justice. You'd have to ask the university if this program is self-paced. Bellevue University has a Bachelors in Criminal Justice that's accelerated. You'd have to ask if its self-paced. Self-paced and online universities: WGU, SJCME, Northcentral University
  12. How was WGU's MSN program? Did you complete it in less than 6 months?
  13. Go to the WGU threads. They discuss this transition. SJCME was mentioned as a place to go for the post-master's FNP certificate, which is also self paced. SJCME's post-master's FNP certificate includes the 3 P's, and then the NP I, II, and III courses and clinicals. There's no final project or capstone.
  14. Drexel has an online MSN in Innovation and Entrepreneurship without clinicals.
  15. Mtsteelhorse, How are you progressing with Aspen University? Like it so far? Would like to hear how you've been doing!
  16. Chamberlain's RN-to-BSN has no clinicals, but their MSN does. Excelsior's RN-to-BSN has no clinicals, but their MSN does. American Sentinel University's MSN has no clinicals. Their RN-to-BSN does.
  17. This thread may answer your questions on becoming Medicare/Medicaid certified, which also depends on what state you work in. https://allnurses.com/private-duty-nursing/become-medicaid-medicare-352335-page2.html
  18. Mtsteelhorse, What is the difference between Aspen and American Sentinel University in terms of number of weeks (per course), number of discussion board postings and responses per week, participation, group projects, cohort courses, or self-paced courses?
  19. I wish I had this kind of help in deciding what schools to attend when I needed it, rather than making that choice all alone and paying high tuition rates. I am just passing on information to others in need of help deciding. This would be the route I would take if I were to do this all over again. I hope its helped someone.
  20. You can find other student reviews of Aspen and American Sentinel University at: http://www.onlinedegreereviews.org/college/aspen-university-reviews/ http://www.onlinedegreereviews.org/college/american-sentinel-university-reviews/ Or just google for "Online degree reviews of aspen university"
  21. CCNE accredited programs can be found at: http://www.aacn.nche.edu/CCNE/reports/accprog.asp NLN accredited programs can be found at: http://www.nlnac.org/Forms/directory_search.htm I'm glad you found something that suits you. A CCNE accredited RN-to-MSN program that's $4,800 is a rare find.
  22. If the post-master's NP university/college that you want to attend says that they will take Aspen or American Sentinel University's MSN, then either one would be doable. You can find more information under "Databases and Directories" at: http://www.chea.org/ When you click on "Databases and Directories," you can search for specific schools. Aspen and American Sentinel University are both CCNE and DETC accredited (which is under CHEA).
  23. I came across this article: http://nursing.advanceweb.com/News/National-News/Online-University-Reduces-Tuition-for-Masters-of-Science-in-Nursing-Degree.aspx If you are concerned about tuition expenses, Aspen University has an RN-to-MSN program for $4,800.
  24. By the time you finish your BSN & MSN from American Sentinel University, they may already be regionally accredited. You could potentially continue with their online format (since you are familiar with it), and do their DNP program. Just a thought.
