  1. We are currently in pediatrics, and I have a test on Monday on Hematology. A teacher is confusing me regarding the nursing diagnosis of activity intolerance. She insists that it is the priority nursing diagnosis for anemia, yes, even for Iron Def Anemia. Her reasoning is that activity intolerance is related to the oxygenation needs of a patient. I understand that, but wouldn't impaired gas exchange be a better diagnosis? The whole class is just frustrated by her. The same instructor decided that picking Risk for Aspiration for a patient with Parkinson is wrong, and the priority diagnoses should be Impaired Thought Processes.
  2. Thanks. I've actually been leaning towards going to rutgers since I will probably commute. About pace, do they have an RN to BSN program? I've checked out their site and it seems that they don't have any there.
  3. Can anybody recommend a good rn to bsn program around the nyc-new jersey area? I'm currently looking at NYU and Rutgers.
  4. I know that this is way off topic but I'm also trying to register at NBV and I'm having difficulty. May I ask how were you able to verify your registration? Did you send a form to the Nurses Board of Victoria and they verified it themselves? or Did you call your own board and got them to send a verification to the Nurses Board of Victoria? Thanks a lot!
  5. I have been trying to fill out the application form, and I'm wondering if anybody knows what form i need to fill up for the Nurses board of Victoria to verify my registration to New Jersey or New York. The nurses board of victoria want a verification from New Jersey but the BOard of nursing here in new jersey needs a form from australia to do so. Does anybody else know what to do for the verification process?
  6. I started taking preReqs when I was 16-17. So I guess I'm pretty young. If I remember correctly, in NJ you can't sit for licensure unless you are over 18, so no worries about a 17 year old making life or death decisions for you.
  7. I have no problems telling people what I got, although I try not to ask others how they did, unless they are my friends and I am genuinely concerned about them. I do agree with you that sometimes people try to compete with you in terms of grade, and I try not to pay attention to them. I definitely believe that "i did well" is a pretty good response.
  8. I'll be 19 when I graduate, hopefully by ten years I would have gotten my masters, and decided on whether I want to be a CRNA, a nurse educator or a generalist.
  9. I loved my experience in the NICU and nursery. During our OB rotation, I was always volunteering to go to the nursery. Given the chance, I would absolutely got to NICU or the nursery. Peds? I'll tell you in two weeks, we begin our Peds rotation next week.
  10. we wear white pants, and since our tops are long I don't usually pay attention. although i've worn black underwear once, and i feel as though i should start charging while hanging IVs.
  11. That condom catheters have different sizes, and what to do in case you are putting on a condom catheter and your quadraplegic patient is getting more erect.
  12. I'm in a diploma in nursing program right now, and i think that it is more cost effective to get an RN then pursue a BSN. Tuition will be less expensive, and they can get their BSN while working. Also, the facility they would be working at could be willing to reinburse their tuition to get their BSN. If they really want to go ahead and pursue a BSN degree I think that The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) or Rutgers have a great BSN program.
  13. I had a great experience in maternity. I had clinicals at a facility that had separate labor and delivery and postpartum units. I was rejected by a couple of patients, but I did not take it personally. I understood whythe pt and FOB would not want me in there, especially for lady partsl deliveries. However, for CS the patients did not really care. I actually brought up to the nurse manager that I would love to work there if they would hire me. She said that hiring a male nurse may be a bit counterproductive considering that some patients may refuse a male nurse. She did add that she believes that it will be great to have male nurses on either units, and that the NICU and Nursery are open though, i think that babies do not usually care if your male or female.
  14. On my nursing classes I have scraped a 4.0, if we add in the prerequisites it goes down to a 3.94 (i hate that professor). Although I'm taking pharm and psych nursing right now, so we'll see. :)
  15. I have not really found my niche yet and I have done clinicals in medsurg (tele and perioperative), psych, and maternity. So far, I have enjoyed maternity the most.
