  1. How did you do? I have not heard of anyone else getting that much SATA. It was definitely nerve racking!
  2. Newnurse2011, Thank you for the update. That is wonderful news! Congratulations! What’s next for you?
  3. I paid my LPN as I went. Paid in full. I went back to pursue RN. Took out loans for LPN to RN and then RN to BSN. I was at 28k, now at 22k. Graduated 2017 with BSN. Don’t plan on going any further.
  4. I agree. But, I will say, I initially started there as an LPN making $15. So, I think it ended up being a nice jump from there.
  5. I’m in Allergy/immunology as well.. we have a mix of RNs, LPNs, and MAs. We all do different roles and rotate as well. Rooming, phone triage, allergy shots, biologics (Xolair) admin, IV admin (fluids/IVIg), testing, challenges (venom/medication/food), serum mixing. I work 4 days a week. Some weekends 8-12. I don’t get bored with the repetition. It’s low stress and I like it that way!
  6. It was. But, before I left I was making 27.50. which is still low, but, a little better. They had given me a nice raise. I no longer work there and moved out of state.
  7. Hello, Sorry to hear you’re having a tough time. Whatever happens, use it as a good learning experience. Reflect on what you could do better on abs what you need from a future employer to guarantee your success. If you are let go, as others have stated, please remain professional at all times. That is very important. Thank them and show gratitude for the awesome opportunity and experiences you received. It will be devastating however, but, keep your head high. Do lots of self care. Do not talk negatively about anyone. Take some time to grieve the loss. If you do decide to put it in your resume, and are questioned about it, just say the unit wasn't a good fit to foster your learning. It didn’t meet your needs or expectations. Which in itself is true, but, it doesn’t imply you did anything wrong. Then, you can outline what your looking for in a residency program or preceptor. Good luck.
  8. I’m curious as well....
  9. Will the trial be televised? How do you all plan to follow the proceedings?...
  10. Oh no! I’m so sorry hun! Hopefully, it will go better next time! just study your test plan. What did you use to study? What was your regimen?
  11. How did it go?
  12. I don’t believe the PVT is as accurate as it once was. There’s still hope. Keep us posted. Did you try using a different credit card?
  13. OK. Fingers crossed!
  14. Also, not sure if the ongoing crisis has had an impact with hiring freezes and such, but, just keep trying. You’ll get something. You just might have To take any position to get settled here, then find a new hospital position...
  15. Hello, I relocated to the area (St Pete) from out of state as well, in Fall 2018. I already had a FL nursing license 1.5 years before moving, I thought that would provide me a slight edge. It did not! I have found those systems you listed to have a ton of openings, but, no one ever calls back or you get an email or status saying they chose a more appropriate candidate. It's so frustrating. Now, granted my nursing experiences are very specific (In clinic Allergy/immunology/ChemHealth), but, I was still a RN with a BSN. I was trainable. I applied to over 30+ Hospital positions, from med/surg overnights to nurse residencies even. After all that, I finally received a call from a recruiter at Bay Care, but, he told me my nursing background was probably the reason I wasn’t getting selected. That interaction went no where. He said he’d call if anything came up, he never did. I am in an Immunology clinic now. Which I love. But, it seems hard to get out of the specialty even if I wanted to.... But, I was also was offered a job at LTC/Rehab. I declined as that’s never been my thing. Good Luck!
  16. When I did take it, I got about 45/75 questions that were SATA. I do believe my last question was one. But, how I tried to explain it is... the SATA questions were obviously above the passing standard, hence why I passed... if the SATAs were below the passing standard, I would have failed. Just being asked a SATA question doesn’t tell you if it’s above or below the passing standard, if that makes sense... Please let us know the results! Try to relax unwind and enjoy!
  17. You're welcome. And according to the website 89.6% of US educated students pass on their first try for 2020. https://www.NCSBN.org/14664.htm This also talks about the questions and passing... https://www.NCSBN.org/NCLEX_Bulletin_March_2020.pdf pages 14-16.
  18. It’s been a while since I took my test. But, SATA can be above passing or below... so the type of question (SATA specifically) doesn’t necessarily determine anything... if I’m saying that correctly. On average, most students pass on the 1st try. You can pass or fail at any number. I'm sure you did great!
  19. WOW!! What an incredibly sad and tragic story. I’ll be sure to follow the proceedings. Thank you!
  20. Aquakenn, CNA This is so spot on. Thank you for sharing. I will definitely look into it. Ella
  21. Work in a private practice clinic. No daily huddles. We can have cells on the floor. No strict policy.
  22. I was always one of the last ones to do check offs because I over thought everything and never felt ready. I also have performance anxiety. But, practice and more practice helped with my confidence. Even now as a seasoned nurse, if it’s a new skill and someone’s watching me do it, I get super nervous and tend to make mistakes. I hate it. Other people just exude confidence or are very good at the illusion of it!
  23. I'm sorry you are having a rough go! Hang in there, you do have a lot going on right now... You’re right to be thinking that you might not be able to handle it. I commend you for that. How much longer do you have for LPN? Perhaps you’re right in doing CNA first or just until you can get your mental health stabilized. Nursing school is extremely grueling as you have realized. It can break you if your vulnerable.
  24. I’m sorry that you have had to endure such a terrible upbringing. I know some days are hard and you think it would be easier if you weren’t here. I’ve been there. I get it. Continue to go to therapy and make sure your doctors are aware of those thoughts. I completely understand your point. Being a nurse does have a lot more responsibility than a CNA. I had those exact same thoughts. “Am I smart enough to be a nurse?” “what if I make a mistake and someone is gravely injured?” “Did I forget to give that Med?” The list went on... But, I also didn’t want to live with regret. And never have known my potential. So....I went for it! I did CNA>LPN>RN>BSN... I achieved my goals and it feels good! I too and am Zoloft and was seeing a therapist for 2 years. Don’t let anxiety and depression limit your SUCCESS!!!!! You can do this...
  25. Why do you feel you should drop out and do CNA?... What is the source of your anxiety and depression?... It is possible to be successful in your nursing studies and career despite having anxiety and depression. You just need to have a good support system, know your limitations (don’t be driven to a breakdown), don’t procrastinate, be proactive, and stay positive and organized. Also, seek medical care from a PCP or therapist and consider recommended therapies.
