Do you wear your seatbelt
Always! Like the previous poster said, I feel naked without it.

when did you know you wanted to be a CNA or a Nurse?
When my son was 2 months old he began having seizures and we were in and out of the hospital for the next year. The doctors would come in and out of the room, but it was the nurses that took the time to talk to us and ask us how we were doing. I remember one of the nurses holding my hand as I cried. I had always wanted to be a nurse, but it was during that time I made up my mind that someday I would go to nursing school. That was about four years ago and now I'm finishing up my pre-req's and enrolling in nursing school next year!

How many student are left?
In my A&P/Micro class we started with 25 and we lost about 8 people. It is kind of frustrating thinking about how hard it was to get into that darn class...lol.

How long until you get a call?!?!?!
I feel so much better now, I thought I was the only one this was happening to! I'm just worried I'm going to forget some of the skills I've learned. I hope something turns up soon. Good luck to you!

This is a great site! I'm glad I found it :)

starting cna classes soon...
Hi all. I'm also starting CNA class this October through a nursing home. I'm excited! Good luck to you all :)

How much is everyone paying for books this upcoming semester?
For my one class my textbooks came to over $500 - and that was on amazon. Granted my class combines A&P, microbiology and chem. I hope my other classes won't be like this!

Infantile Spasms
As a parent, the nurses are what got me through our initial diagnosis in the hospital and various VEEGs etc. I just want to say a big thank you to you and the other nurses! We had dr.s coming in and out through out the day and everything they said was a blur. I remember the nurses coming in and asking how my husband and I were doing. She let me cry and took time out of her busy schedule to sit with me a few mins. I'm sure she didn't know what to say, it's hard to know the right thing to say. The fact that she cared was what helped me get through that week. That is actually a big part of why I'm going into nursing. I wish I had the answer, but what works for one child doesn't always work for another. That's the hard part with infantile spasms. Anyway, thank you for what you are doing, it is greatly appreciated!

Infantile Spasms
I'm not a nurse yet (starting this fall) but had to reply. My son has infantile spasms. He was diagnosed when he was 6 months old, he is 4 now and still has daily seizures. He took Sabril (Vigabatrin) and it worked for 2 weeks and then stopped for whatever reason. We had the most success with the ketogetic diet. He was actually seizure free for awhile. Unfortunately we had to stop because his stomach was not tolerating the high fats/oils too well. I believe the child has to be over the age of 1 before they can try this diet. As far as brain damage, my son is developmentally delayed but progressing (He's learning sign language, likes to color). One of the most important things is early intervention, I know that helped my son out a lot.

When does everybody start back to school?
I start Aug 25th and I am very excited/nervous! I have done a few online courses, but this will be the first actual class that I've been to in about 5 years. Glad to hear I'm not the only one that is a bit anxious!

Fall 09 hopefuls?
Hi everyone, great thread! I am *hoping* to be accepted into nursing school in the fall of 09 too. I will be going to Northern Virginia Community College. I'm starting my pre-req's this fall...actually it's like 3 weeks away! It's starting to feel a little more real now. I'm not sure about my GPA yet. As for deadlines, I believe the deadline for fall 09 is next June. I really don't have a plan B so I'm praying that I will get in, otherwise I will be waiting another year. Just out of curiosity, when will you all take the NET or have you already? I'm kind of confused as to when I should take it. Thanks!

hi to all!
Hi and welcome! I haven't been here too long, but I've found this site to be incredibly addicting as well :)

Northern Virginia Community College anyone?
Hello, I'm starting my prerequisites in the fall, and I have 2 small children as well! Thankfully I had some classes transfer so I only need to take the NAS 161 & 162 courses. Good luck to those anticipating the acceptance letters! :nuke:
