CRNE 7th october
Congratulations breech and soetpeel! I hope I will have the same fate as you guys! I was wondering why soetpeel who as I understand is in the UK got his result already and I am in Saskatoon and havent received mine yet. Maybe they send the result to those who are in far away places first so that all of us will receive it in almost about the same time. Anxiety is killing me.

CRNE 7th october
Today is november 2. I did some reading on the October CRNE last year and they started receiving results on November 9 in Saskatchewan. People from other provinces received their results at a later date. A few more days and everything will be alright! I hope we all receive a positive result. Goodluck to all of us...

CRNE 7th october
I finished both of my books 15 minutes before time is up! I even thought that 3.5 hours is not enough! there are lots of information and story telling that we need to read only to find out that the question at the end is not even relevant to the story provided. arghhh!!! I cant believe that the girl sitting in front of me finished each book in 1.5 hours! that's amazing!

CRNE 7th october
yeah right! when I try to eliminate choices, I always end up with 2 choices that seems equally right. I cant wait for this entire thing to be over! well I hope it will be over... and not having to do everything all over again.

CRNE 7th october
I walked out of the examination venue after the exam without having any feeling or idea as to how I did in the test. some questions are really weird. the only questions that I am sure I got right were the drug calculations and the Arterial blood gas interpretation questions. I felt numb after the test. well, I hope they send the results sooner than expected. Its hard when you're anxious about something that you have no control about anymore. I even peeked at some topics in my textbook when I got home and it just made my anxiety even worst! I wanna know the results now. so that I can move on with my life. whatever it is... Goodluck to all of us who took the test! I hope everyone pass! :heartbeat:redbeathe:heartbeat

CRNE 7th october
lol! is Regina NOT far from Saskatoon? :chuckle sorry... I've only been here in canada for 8 weeks. The only places I've been to are the grocery stores and the mall here in Saskatoon. That's why I dont feel very comfortable going to another city when I still barely know the city im in right now. All this time I thought Regina is very far from here. Thanks for enlightening me. :) Makes me think of really going for the workshop now that I know its not that far.

CRNE 7th october
I've heard of a 3 day CRNE prep course in Regina but it will be too expensive for me to get into that course since Regina is quite far from Saskatoon so I would have to pay for food and accommodation too. I am planning to do the online readiness test when im done with all my review materials. Goodluck to all of us taking the test in October.

CRNE 7th october
I have the Mosby's Comprehensive Review for the Canadian RN Exam. I got it from the University Bookstore here in Saskatoon. It's a nice study material. It gives you an overview about everything. It also has a practice test after each chapter and a two long tests at the end of the book. I also have the CNA prep guide which I am planning to read after im done with the comprehensive review book. Do you guys think that self study will be sufficient to pass the CRNE? I was thinking of enrolling in a prep course but I think they dont have it here in saskatoon. I hope we all pass the exam in October!

Where to buy CRNE prep books in the Philippines?
what I did was I asked a relative in Canada to buy the book and send it to me here in the philippines. It cost me 74 CDN for the book and 22 CDN for the shipping via Canada post. It took 6 weeks before I received it. Its the cheapest mode of shipping I found. Its okay since I am not in a hurry anyway. Atleast I did not spend more money on the shipping cost than on the book itself.

vluna any1?
As what I've already mentioned in my past posts, the application process for the RN residency and for Employment are separate. the qualifying and competency exams that they are giving right now are for the RN residency program. If you apply for the RN residency then that's what you will be, an RN resident/OJT/nurse trainee. Being absorbed for employment is not a part of that program, period. If you really want to be employed in that hospital, you will need to file a SEPARATE application for "nurse-I/ staff nurse" position at the personnel division, pass a SEPARATE set of qualifying/ competency exams, SEPARATE interviews etc... But the problem is that they are not hiring staff nurses at this moment. Training application is different from employment application. They are not interconnected with each other.

Training being counted as hospital experience will depend on your future employers. Some consider it but most of employers only consider "payed" work wherein you function as a staff nurse and have FULL responsibility over your actions. Being on training doesn't give you that kind of resposibility. You may commit mistakes during training and the staff nurse is the one who will be held resposible because they are your direct supervisors eventhough you as RNs have your own license already. The resposibility that's on your shoulder is not that heavy when you're a trainee. I know someone who have been a trainee and was hired after sometime in the hospital where I work. She can really tell the big difference...

Vluna Hospital is not hiring new nurses at this time. The examination that they are conducting right now is for the "RN residency" thing.A "RN Resident" is also know as OJT nurse, meaning it is not for employment but purely for training only. After 6 months or so, they will issue a certificate that you have completed the training and that's it.Being in that TRAINING program will NEVER lead to being absorbed for EMPLOYMENT because those are separate entity. The training is not even a pre requisite or a part of the employment/ hiring process. Application for employment in that hospital is done with the PERSONNEL DIVISION and not with the training office (that is if they are hiring, but right now they are not), and it involves a very tedious process. And I must also mention that the process for employment is the same for ALL apllicants. Whether you are an OJT or just a walk in applicant, you will go through the SAME process. No shortcuts for OJTs. I hope you guys know what i mean....

Detailed request on CRNE Exam Prep Guide, 4th Edition
Hi! It's really impossible to find a CRNE prep guide here in the Philippines. What I did was, I contacted my relative in Canada and asked her to buy the CRNE prep guide and send it here for me. She was able to buy a copy at a University Bookstore in Saskatoon and sent it here thru Canada post. The book cost 70 plus dollars and the shipping cost her 19 dollars only. I asked her to choose the cheapest mode of sending it because i am not in a hurry anyway. It is expected to arrive here in the philippines after 4 weeks. The book weighs 1.5 kg. I have no idea how many pages it has though. Hope that helps. :heartbeat:redbeathe:heartbeat

the exam was pretty easy during my time. mostly multiple choice and identification plus essay on the last part. The hardest of all, I must say is the Waiting Part. It took me more than 8 moths before I actually started working. After that qualifying exam, you will have to undergo a panel interview, then a Neuro Psyche exam, 2 more interviews, Medical exam, another panel interview @ GHQ, then wait a few months more before you will actually start working. The salary is way better than what most private hopitals offer though. Goodluck to you!

Canada's Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)
the saskatchewan immigrant nominee program has different categories. My application was under the family members category. I guess the processing time for this category is really longer than usual since there are so many applicants. The skilled workers category usually takes shorter time to process. goodluck to your application. I hope everything will go smoothly as planned.

Military nursing
I work with military nurses on a daily basis and I can say that being a military nurse is not a joke. That is why I preffered staying as a civilian nurse in a military health institution. The training is really tough. When you enter the service you'll be a probationary 2nd leutenant, meaning you are the junior of all juniors. All the 2Lt,1Lt, Cpt and everyone above will be your seniors, meaning they have more authority than you so they can sort of order you to do things and you cannot complain especially if it is a work related task. Seniority is well-regarded. It is true that there are restrictions when you are in training. They were not allowed to go outside of the camp but you can still pretty much communicate with the outside world because they allow use of cellphones. After you pass the training, you will be promoted to 2Lt and will be deployed anywhere in the Philippines. You cannot choose a place where you want to be deployed. Most of the military nurses I know are very nice people, but ofcourse there are also some who are very rank conscious. Military nurses are one of the most highly paid nurses in the Phil. They earn more because they have greater responsibility also. They are like "on duty 24/7"

any filipino nurse working for Apex Corporation-Agency for Pinoy Excellence?
hi everybody! to chinky: I was wondering how did you go about your problem regarding your TOR and your SRNA application? To all: Roughly how long is the waiting period before I can expect to receive an acknowledgement letter or something saying that the SRNA already received all the necessary files for my application? I just completed sending to SRNA all the necessary files last week and now I dont know what to do next. I guess all I can do is patiently wait and pray that the process will go smoothly. Thanks in advance to those who will reply! :heartbeat:redbeathe:heartbeat

the board rating certificate will be sent to your home address... but during my time, I personally claimed it at the Board of Nursing office in PRC
