This sounds like a homework problem to me. Do we do their homework on this site? :chuckle
  2. If they feel well enough to have a party then it's time to go home. 2 maybe 3 visitors, no small children for longer than 10 minutes. I'm strict but after all the patient is there to get better. I have run people off and afterwards been told by the patient, Thank You I really did feel up to entertaining. Come to think of it I don't think a patient has ever complained about their loved ones being run off.
  3. What math did you do? Some of the questions are "experimental" and don't count. But how would you know which you got right and which you got wrong. All that matters is the letter grade.
  4. Which means absolutely nothing, you'll just have to wait it out, best of luck
  5. Maybe it's time to look for someone who will take you seriously What does he do? Is he studying anything? Curious to know...
  6. Two national organizations accredit nursing education programs. The National League of Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) accredits all types of nursing education programs including master's, baccalaureate, associate's and diploma. The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) accredits programs that offer only master's and baccalaureate level nursing degrees. Having one of these accreditations is what you are looking for.
  7. I have heard that they are not accredited, that would be the first thing I would check. If they're not, don't bother.
  8. Medications work differently on different people and people have various types of depression and anxiety disorders. Only a qualified physican can tell you which one is best for you. It doesn't matter which ones anyone else takes unless they are closely related to you.
  9. Third time is a charm, good luck, we're keeping our fingers crossed for you.
  10. Honey it doesn't matter if a person is a nurse, teacher, secretary, or whatever, if you need SSRI's to function normally then you take them. It's pretty simple really. You need to see a physician (psychiatrist) qualified to diagnose your mental health issues and prescribe the correct medication. Skip the PCP.
  11. It does not matter one ioda how many questions you got or what kind of questions you got. The BON will just tell you to sit tight and wait for your results. Good Luck!
  12. My Mom has an accent but has been here for 35 years. People ask her on a daily basis "where are you from"? She says "Atlanta, why do you ask"? She lives in Atlanta. That pretty much stops it.
  13. I wasn't taught leadership skills in nursing school. I am an RN. I learned leadership on the job. My assessment skills learned in school were basic and honed on the job.
  14. You have to realize that you are in the present, 2008, this is not "back in the day" LPN's are well trained, capable of doing charge in LTC, knowledgeable and quite capable of critical thinking. I think you are judging this nurse solely on the fact that she is an LPN rather than an RN. It is compassion and experience that a nurse possesses that makes her a good nurse not the initials behind her name. While I agree there has to be guidelines that seperate LPN's and RN's such as LPN's not being allowed to do charge in a hospital, not that they are not capable but in LTC LPN's in charge are certainly the acception not the exception. You may need adjust you attitude. In case you're wondering I am an RN and proud of it
  15. I had 265 and passed. Calm down you can always take it again. It's not the worst thing in the world. You got your degree. The rest will follow
  16. My Mother had to wait 7 weeks. I waited 5 days.
  17. This thread is 4 years old! What's up with that? It does not matter how many questions you did or didn't have or what type of questions you had you cannot guess in any way shape or form whether or not you passed. You have to stay busy and wait for the results.
  18. first of all i think that taking off for 1 week is unrealistic and what happens if you have a c-section? what's the big hurry to get through? relax, enjoy the end of your pregnancy, you will be tired, and enjoy the first months of your precious baby's life. calm down and relax a little.
  19. jkeys100 replied to Altra's topic in Radiology
I don't work in radiology but when we prep the pt's for an abdomin/pelvis we give them 2 bottles of readi-cat or 2 glasses of gastrograhin mix one hour before the scan. Never 2 hours. Always 1 hour. The patients have to have a 20 guage above the wrist and they all have J loops, we have to heplock the patients before they go down.
  20. The most anxiety provoking time of my life. After studying so hard, passing all the tests, it came down to just those few moments in the patients room with the CE. I knew it was do or die. I do think that those who haven't been nurses have a big advantage. I can understand why Excelsior is so stringent. Their reputation is on the line related to the students they turn out as RN's. I have never run into anyone who said anything negative about going through Excelsior (Regents for me). More the opposite. Wow you must be very self motivated, self disiplined, very smart, able to pass the CPNE. Wow. For me it was all a great experience. When I went you could also go if you were a CNA, which of course, they have changed. Many were able to take advantage of the opportunity. I have worked with some RN's who were previously CNA's and I don't see any difference working with them or the RN who went to traditional school. Although I agree with their decision to stop accepting CNA's into the program.
  21. I enoyed your story too. Just sorry you were so sick. Once I called in because I had severe cramps and heavy bleeding and knew I couldn't be running up and down the floor for 12 hours. My NM called me when she got to work and said "I can't believe you would let something like that keep you from coming into work". Sorry I can't work. She called me again a couple of hours later and asked if I was better. Sorry I can't work, and yet again she called me about half way through the shift only this time I wasn't home and she was ****** off. She calmed down when I came up to the floor on a stretcher from PACU. I had to go to the ER and had an emergency D&C. Still makes me mad too :angryfire
  22. Mine got to the point that they put me on Verapamil and I've been fine since. I had to wear a 24 monitor to confirm the frequent PVC's. At one point I was registering 150 PVC's an hour
  23. That sounds like too much trouble for no reason, IMHO. If they don't want you because you have a small child then you don't want to work for them anyway. Most employers understand when your child is sick, a few don't. You don't need that type of employer.
