Which type of blood product is compatible with all blood types?
Exactly why I said, we can't rely on what people say!!!!. Seriously, I don't know what TRUERN's problem is but I've been a nursing student, I know what it feels like to not know the answer to a question. We had a take home test once, and I looked up one of the answers online and guess what: I got it wrong!!!! All I'm saying is: yes get info from our post but always back it up with a source!!!

Like I said "I didn't want to sound mean!" and I did look at her profile and I didn't see any reference to this "OP" you mentioned. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and I assume everyone can answer how they please. It is an open discussion, right??

The end of C-diff testing??
I think the reason they do that is because Medicare will not pay for hospital aquired ulcers anymore. I think, it was passed May of 08 but not sure. You might want to look into it.

Do I have what it takes to be a nurse?
We didn't shadow but we had to be CNA certified before applying to the nursing program. I went into nursing without a clue. Seriously, other that check-ups at a clinic, I had not once volunteered in a hospital or any healthcare setting but I still liked it. Yeah, the poo and the vomit can be gross, and yeah pt's can be mean at times but I like it. I like learning new things everyday. Nursing is not the same old thing everyday -- that's what I like about it.

I don't wan't to sound mean but are you in nursing school?? You should have taken A&P prior to the nursing program so refer back to your book's. No matter who answers your question you cant go to your nursing intructor and say: "well, this type of blood is compatible with all blood types because Spoiled627 told me so" lol. You can always Google Anywho, Blood type AB can donate blood to A B only but can receive from A, B, or O . Blood type O can donate to AB, A, B or O but can only receive from O. Hope this helps.

Nursing and Traffic Violations?!? SERIOUSLY
First, sorry if I offended anyone by saying "ambulance driver" I wasn't referring to the EMT's -- I know their role and would never be unappreaciative to what they do. Second, that's just it, it wasn't a speeding ticket! It was letting an unathorized driver drive a car (on a blacktop not a major highway). The driver did not have a suspended license, was not under the influence, heck he wasn't even speeding, we just got stopped on a "routeen check" -- he just didn't have his license at the time. Another thing, I've had backround checks before (this violation happened before I started nursing school) and they didn't say anything to me. I'm still going to send the papper work, I just thought it was dumb and needed to vent. thanks for your thoughts

HELP!!! ATT: Incomplete Address
I would call and ask if it's a problem. My registration form said in big bold letters to make sure I had all my information printed correctly or they would charge a 50 dollar fine for any corrections, so, you might want to check. If it's their mistake mostlikely they will take care of it but if it's something you did they'll just make you pay a fine. $ makes the world go round lol. Just call. There should be a number on the paper work/ e-mail you received from them. Don't wait till the last minute though! Good Luck!

Nursing and Traffic Violations?!? SERIOUSLY
Ok here's the deal. I've applied to several locations and of course each place does a drug screen and a criminal background check -- nothing new. So, the criminal background check comes up with a traffic violation (a traffic violation that doesn't even affect car insurance mind you) and the people from HR want me to fill out a report!!! are you serious??? The report they sent me specifically asks for information on dependent or child abuse. Is there something I'm missing here?? What does one thing have to do with the other? I would understand if I was applying to be the ambulance driver but nursing???

Question about organ donation.
The reason I decided to be a nurse is to help people. I cant imagine myself not doing all I can to save someone just because they are organ donors. It's not ethical or legal to do something like that. BE AN ORGAN DONOR! you don't know what a difference you will make! Also, DONATE BLOOD!!! I'm so happy I do both!

Extremely Frustrated
I remember that all too well (I'm so glad it's over for me) but in a couple of months you'll be in my shoes and you'll look back and think-- why did I stress out so much??? ( hard to believe, I know, but it's true!!!! ) When May rolled around for me, I was a nut case. I was angry, overwhelmed, sensitive, and I cried even if you touched me lol. I remember, no matter how hard people tried to convince me otherwise I couldn't imagine not worrying about tests or CLINICAL PAPER WORK!!!! OMG. All I can say now is take it one day at a time. Get a planner (you should have one already!!) and schedule study time, homework time, and alone time (alone time most important). Get organized, get to class and clinical 10-15 minutes early, and even though it's hard to come home from clinical and do paper work: DO IT!! you'll be so happy you did the next day. Don't stress it!! NCLEX is not that bad. It all depends how you look at it. Think about it: I wouldn't want a dumb nurse taking care of me. Would you???

First Job!!! Internship vrs regular hospital. Insight pls
Hi, I hope you guys can help with some questions I have. All insight is appreciated. Thanks!!! 1. Is an internship program worth two years of commitment to one company??? 2. Has anyone had an internship experience? 3. Did you find it beneficial? 4. Is working at a regular hospital just as beneficial? 5. If you had a chance to do it all over again would you start with an internship possition? I speak two languages and I thought I would be better of to work in a clinic where I can better apply my skills but I've noticed that clinics don't hire new grads or at least not me :chuckle. The location of the internship position is not in dire need of this either, but so far I don't have much to choose from. My real question is: would it be worth it??? None of the girls I went to calss with got internship possitions so I can't really ask them. My ideal work schedule would have been FT in a clinic and PT in a hospital but so far no luck .... I can't wait forever; I have loans to pay!! anywho, what do you guys think???

how do you expect me to pay for this???
I don't know what's offered in your area but I live in Iowa and we have a "Free" Clinic program. It's given once a week and it's first come first serve, the space is limited but at least they have an opportunity. Everything is free -- the visit, labs, studies, and meds -- or at very low cost with an oppertunity for monthly installments. Find out what programs are available in your area.
