  1. Most Rn to MSN programs will accept you (a two year RN) into the program if you already hold a BS or BA in another discipline. Some RN to MSN programs have a BSN attainment feature. I already hold a BS in Hlthcare Mgt but I am going to get my BSN anyway as part of a RN to MSN program but the program is different from their RN-BSN program.
  2. Congratulations Melissa! This is Rick from the Racine site. I also passed! Typing in GN after my name in waaaay better than student nurse. Good luck on the NCLEX.
  3. Pay the fee and get on with your life. You have the NCLEX to pass and taking the time and energy to fight this is poor use of your time. Good luck
  4. Bought ALL my study stuff on ebay! The latest College Network stuff worked for me! Averaged about $50 a module. Resold it on ebay and made money!
  5. I applied in April got my date last week - last weekend in Aug at the MPAC - Racine site! I changed to October for preparedness reasons.
  6. The only thing I can find wrong with your reasoning is that the second try would be populated by 100 (not 36) first time non pass students and the third time try would be populated by 100 (not 23) two time non pass students. Therefore, you can get the stated percentages in the original statement.
  7. I know the feeling! I failed LS2 in December after passing 5 previous exams with A's and B's. However, I signed up immediately to retake (in 60 days) and moved onto LS3 - which I just passed with an A this afternoon! Do not wait - keep moving forward. You don't want to waste valuable time waiting on LS1 again. You should take a break from that material and come back to it in a month or so. In the mean time you need to knock out the next one.:wink2:
  8. i think i'll utilize the wait time for taking a workshop and practicing the hands -on skills, etc. also
  9. How long is the wait for a testing date for the CPNE from the day you apply for it? I am getting close (3 exams) to being able to apply for it and am curious as I have heard it may be 8 months! Thanks in advance! Rick:D
  10. Yes! This is EXACTLY how you go about this! Download a copy of "The Fair Credit Reporting Act" summary of rights. Follow it to the letter. Have your lawyer draft the reply letter (I had Prepaid Legal at the time) but you can do it yourself. Everything should be mailed by certified mail. Record EVERY conversation with collection agencies - you DO NOT have to tell them it is being recorded but it may be beneficial from the stand point of them being totally above board in what they tell you. The strategy here is to place the burden on TCN and the collection agency to provide proof ,in written form, of your debt. DENY EVERYTHING (even if you do owe it!). TCN then has to pay someone to gather every piece of paper, copy it, and send it to you (or your lawyer - recommended Prepaid Legal). Make it as costly as possible for TCN ! Since they are "sharing" part of the collected monies with the collection agency - TCNs recovery amount is growing slimmer and slimmer. Your end game here is to get TCN to cease and desist without affecting your credit or if you really end up owing them something - to offer a settlement amount that is acceptable to both parties and that any payment results in TCN to cease and desist without affecting your credit.
  11. I am currently testing out with Excelsior and I purchased ALL my materials on Ebay. I almost fell for the TCN B.S. but had the good sense to read this site the day after I signed and immediately cancelled (By phone, certified letter, and email!). I bought the Nursing concepts books first as the "new" cirriculum isn't easy to find just yet. I put together the material into topics based on the free study guides and then keep taking practice tests over and over until I know the material cold. I end up with about 600 possible questions per test and the technique works for me! I enrolled in Excelsior right off the bat and haven't looked back!
  12. I'm 50 and just getting started with Excelsior after 20 years in the Army as an 18D and then being "retired" for 7 years. There are many ways to practice nursing - certainly there is a place for older newbies!
