Failed the practical on first A&P I test.
Hi, I am in the same situation you are. I am doing fine in the lecture portion, but failed the lab midterm. Since it counts 40% of our lab final grade, I guess I will have to drop the course. Our lab midterms were on tissue slides (name the type of tissue, name the part of the tissue the pointer is on), and bones (name the bone or articulation the pointer is on), a mitosis model (had to name structures of the cell and the stage of mitosis). I studied really hard, but as I said, I failed the lab midterm. This is really discouraging. What in the world am I doing wrong?

Older Nursing students
Hi Everyone, I am 58 years old, and have two semesters of prerequisites (at two courses a term) left. I have a 3.7 GPA so far, so I have done well. I have recently become discouraged by several online articles I have read about new grads having trouble getting jobs. I desperately want to become a nurse, but want to know now if finding a job will be real difficult. I guess I have had my head in the sand...I didn't know there wasn't a nursing shortage. What do you honestly think about my situation?

Looking for student nurses, male and 50+
Hi, I am 57 and am working on my prerequisite courses. The discouraging thing is that I am not too hot in Algebra, so I must take Beginning and Intermediate Algebra, then College Algebra. The college I am going to will not allow students to take their science courses before the Math sequence is completed. Thus, by the time I finish my prerequisites, it will be 2013 before I can apply to nursing school. I am determined to do it, and encourage you to do the same. Go for it!

Nursing School For Older Student
Hi Everyone, I have been admitted to Gwinnett Tech and will begin taking nursing prerequisites in the Fall. I am 57 years old (really) and recently lost my job in another field due to downsizing. I will have to take Math 98 and 99, and am not that great in the subject. However, I am determined to do my absolute best! I am concerned about age discrimination in being admitted to nursing school, and later, when I seek employment. I understand admission to the nursing program is very competitive. What if I don't get in? Do other Atlanta area nursing schools accept Gwinnett Tech's prerequisites? Thanks so much!

A Nursing Career Over 50
Hi Everyone, I want to enter nursing as a second career. I am a 54 year old male with BBA and MBA degrees, who will be retiring early at the end of 2008. Is this a realistic option for me (will nursing schools accept me at this age)? What about prerequisites? Must I retake them? Thanks!!!
