ER Nurses Treated Different in my Hospital!
Just a quick note--ever notice the one person in the room that is making the most noise? Why do we notice? Because that person is drawing attention to themselves! The quiet spoken-does their work and does it well speaks louder. Keep the faith--nothing goes unrewarded.

ER Nurses Treated Different in my Hospital!
First of all let me tell you that everyone cannot be an ER nurse because it is not their nitch so to speak. Coodos for you picKing a job that is hard--unrewarding-and unthankful from your fellow co-workers. That is where the expression comes from nurses eat their own!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DON'T LET THEM EAT YOU!!!!!!!!! SPEAK QUIETLY AND DO YOUR JOB AND PEOPLE WILL SEE YOU FOR THE PROFESSIONAL THAT YOU ARE. Those THAT KNOW WILL RECOGNIZE YOUR TALENT. fORGET WHAT YOU HEAR AND WORK ON WHAT YOU ARE AS A CAREGIVER. tALENT COMES IN MANY FORMS--ER IS A GIFT FOR CARING A VERY SPECIAL WAY AND YOU NEED TO RELISH IN THE FACT THAT YOU WILL NOURSIH PEOPLE AS YOU LEARN. gOOD LUCK--I HAVE BEEN AN ER NURSE FOR OVER 15 YEARS AND THERE ARE MEANIES OUT THERE--DON'T BECOME ONE OF THEM!!!!!!!

Nursing to Case Mangement: what do I need?
nursing isn't all about hate one of the reasons i no longer do floor care is because you are always going to be shortstaffed and have to stay over!!!!!! i made my specialty er and yes we are short sometimes but supervisors have a harder time hiding especially if you have a doc who wants the patients to have care and not med errors or a bad time of it because of lazy staff. i also discovered that since i became a travel nurse you meet great people who are going thru staffing problems and apppreciate your help!!!!! traveling lets you pop in and pop out and you are not part of the problem but helping those poor soles who are tired and frustrated. case management is ok but speak to a few people who actually do that everyday to get their perspective before diving in headfirst.

Single moms
I was married when I was in nursing school----which by the way i went through the eve./weekend division which took me 5 yrs to graduate. I worked two jobs raised children, had an alcoholic husband but graduated with honors. It was vey hard but I was driven. We started with 51 students 5 yrs later graduated 13 and 12 passed boards and are working still. I am now a travel nurse and love it. YOu need family support to make it work but what a job. With the shortages and understaffing one of my assignments when I arrived the hospital was 25% travelers and when I finished my contrct 13 weeks later they were 75% travele :) rs!!!!!!!!!! Nurses were quitting quicker then they could hier new ones. Good luck people.

Survey: Should nurses from other countries be recruited to aid in the nursing shortag
I feel that we should first look at our situation here in the US as to why it is there is a shortage to start with. I have been a travel nurse for 4 yrs now and have no problem getting a contract with good money so why can't administration sit down with the nursing staff and give them respect, a good wage and a decent schedule I don;t think we need to support other countries with the United States money anymore then we already do!
