  1. Hey There Fellow MCC Students, I'm starting to think about buying a PDA for the 1600s in the fall. I'm planning to buy the ipod touch 16g or 32g. I'm wondering what types of software and more importantly how many gigs of memory are needed. From what I've seen on skyscape.com I'll need a 32g but I'm not sure that will even be enough. Anyone have any suggestions? I'd rather not get a blackberry because I don't want to increase my phone bill.
  2. I bought Taylor's at the bookmark along with any others that came with CDs. I was able to buy 3 off Amazon but hey any savings counts. Thank You to everyone for your help!
  3. Hey, I'm starting to shop for my textbooks for the nursing program and I was wondering if anyone can tell me how much you use the CD's that come with some of the books. I'd like to purchase most of my books online to save Mega $$$ but a lot of times they don't have the CD's with them. Thanks!
  4. It finally worked!! I guess all I needed to do was complain about it. Goodnight!!:zzzzz
  5. I was actually just going to post a comment that said "Merry Christmas from MCC". I'm really irritated because it's after 2am on Christmas and I've been trying for over an hour to register but Web Advisor is too busy. It keeps timing out and will not let me register. Grrrr, They need to have a better system. I can't go to sleep until I'm either registered or dead and I think the former is looking more likely at this point.
  6. On the subject of school supplies, can anyone recommend a stethoscope. I'm not sure how good of one I will need. I've been looking online and don't no the difference between one for $40 and one for $140.
  7. Yes, A&P is one class at MCC. Basically to get into the nursing program you need a 4.0 on the last 12 credits you took and a 90 or better on the HESI. There is a list of prerequisite classes you need which I'm sure they'll tell you about.
  8. If the professor's pick the lab time after you register then I guess it really doesn't matter which one you register for. I was interested in a particular lab time as well, which I'll still try to register for but I guess I'll just plan on having to be available at all times. This is exactly why I asked to get the March start time. My husband will be done with school this spring so I won't have to work around his class schedule. I'm getting pretty excited to start!
  9. Hey. I am also a new nursing student. Are you starting in January or March? I'm starting in March. From the looks of the schedule the only class that isn't at a set time is the lab/clinical. Of course getting in the lab you want is important.
  10. The advice from blue1018 is good advice. Go to every open lab possible. The tutors that are in the learning center are free, MCC pays them not you. Bouwman does not allow cameras of any kind in the lab. She is a great teacher and the more people that drop the nicer she'll seem. It's like she's waiting to weed out the people that can't hang and focus on the ones who are really trying. By trying I mean devoting your entire life to her class. It sucks but it's worth it when you come out of it with a real understanding of human anatomy.
  11. Getting a study buddy really helped me. Originally, she had asked me to help her study since I was doing pretty good (or at least passing. lol.) but studying with her really helped things stick. Also, make sure that you are not just memorizing the information but actually understanding it first. If you don't understand it you will not be able to memorize it. Having a study buddy is good for that because they may have something in their notes that will clarify something that you were unable to catch. I always wrote down the page numbers that she referred to during lecture and used the book for clarification as well. Use the CD-ROM's that came with the book!! They are amazing at teaching the concepts especially when it comes to the Nervous System and Action Potentials. Good Luck!!:bowingpurand pray. lol.
  12. Yes! If you take Bouwman you have to study every single day. It's a great class and she's a great professor but it's crazy hard. You will learn a lot and some people might even get an A but you can't count on it even if you're an A student. If I had to chose I would take it again but not if I was using that grade to get into MCC's nursing program.
  13. I took anatomy at south campus with Prof. Bouwman and it was hard to pass even in 16 weeks let alone 6. I've heard that the center campus a&p courses are much easier. If you need to get an A do not take Bouwman at all. I got the highest grade in both her classes the semester I took it and it was a B-. If you don't need the A though, her class is pretty cool (even though terribly frustrating with all the info she expects you to know) and you get to use cadavers.
  14. Hi! I don't start the program until March but I wanted to check out the uniforms at the dove website. Do I just need to call MCC for the school code? I wish I would have been able to get a used set at orientation.
  15. Where can I get a med term book? Borders? Maybe the MCC bookstore? I don't start the program until March so I have plenty of time to study on my own.
