I think that you are on the right path. My suggestion would be to get all your certifications CCRN, ACLS, and PALS as quickly as possible. Then study for the GRE. I know that the Otterbein/Grant Medical program doesn't require the GRE but just in case you decide to apply to other programs. Also take organic chemistry or biochemistry and do well if you haven't already taken it and start taking graduate level courses like advanced pathophysiology and pharmacology to show that you can do well in grad school. Oh yeah make sure that you have shadowed CRNAs and good luck. Sorry I don't know too much about the Otterbein/Grant Medical program.

Yes I had a resident place a right subclavian catheter into the artery instead of a vein. Easy way to figure out with my patient was that the patient had an arterial line so the cvp was pretty much the same as the MAP and blood was pulsating from one of the lumens as someone already stated.

Yes I have heard of this program. New programs are always risky because you never know how things are laid out, how well the didactics are and what type of experiences the SRNAs get while in clinical. This program however looks to be one of the better programs out there. I say this because the PD is well known to the nurse anesthetist community. He works as and with independent CRNAs so the program will train independent CRNAs to the full scope of practice.

I have read that a lot of guys like the aviator scrubs so I too ordered some and really like it. If you are concerned with the length and fit, you can order from them to try it to see if the size fits. Also you can add length to the scrubs to whichever inseam length you want it to be. Well I can just tell you about my experience in IL. I know here, most hospitals would like you to have some type of ICU or at least med-surg experience, but I knew that I wanted to go into ICU, so I applied to as many as I could. I think that you should just try and apply for an ICU job if that is really what you would like to do. I think it really depends on the interview because it was the staff nurse who interviewed me and luckily she liked me so I was offered the job.

Well I recently got hired in SICU and I am a new grad. Most hospitals in IL would like you to have some experience but it really depends on the manager interviewing you.

From what I have heard, the less math calculations you have the better it is, so I think that not having any math calculations is a really good sign.

Well don't get yourself down too much, you don't know what the results are yet so you never know. I have known some people who actually passed at odd numbers like 96 or 123. When I took my exam the first time I failed at 75 thinking that I passed and the second time I thought I failed at 75 but actually passed. So you never know until you get your results so just keep thinking positively.

Well what I did for the second time was I took the Hurst online review. I thought that this review focused on what we really needed and didn't go overboard. This is just my experience. Best of luck to you.

I interviewed for a SICU position about a month and a half ago and the manager for ICU was the first one to interview me. She pretty asked me why I choose SICU and told me if I knew how hard the job was going to be. Then one of the staff from SICU interviewed me and also asked why I picked SICU. They really didn't drill me on anything specific. I just acted like myself told them why I wanted to do SICU and luckily they liked me and gave me the job.
