Central line placement left IJ
Has anyone ever had an experience where anesthesia places CL in LIJ and possibly thought it was arterial? PaO2 was 95 and CVP was measuring in the 40s. Also had AVF to the left arm as well. HD completed day prior to surgery. Not totally sure of the history as this happened to one of my ICU Academy classmates. One doc thought the tip appeared to be in the aorta and another said not even close. Any experiences? Thoughts?

Moving to Honolulu 20 May
Hi tyvin, Thank you for the welcome!! We are new to this whole process for finding therapies but i think we are off to a good start, i just hope it stays that way! I'm going to send in the application for my license this week. Do you have suggestions of where to start when I do receive the license? Does it take a while for that to go through? It seems as if it's difficult to get an offer out here which I'm nervous about.

Moving to Honolulu 20 May
Hi tyvin, I haven't applied for anywhere yet. Getting my son going with his ABA therapy has taken a lot more of my time than I thought it would. Maybe come September I will start putting applications in. I would like to go back sooner but not possible at this time unfortunately . I will post on here as soon as I get a bite for a job though!!

Moving to Honolulu Hawaii
I had thought about Tripler but didn't know how civilian nurses were treated and such. I'm also a veteran so I could have a better chance of getting a job there too I guess. The good thing about this assignment is we are locked in for the next four years. I had thought about agency work as well but I'm one who likes to interview the hospital as much as they are interviewing me and I wasn't sure how much of that I would get to do. I just want to show and feel career progression, but I don't want to be over my head. I expect good training and if I don't get it I find work elsewhere you know? I don't mean for that to sound bad. I appreciate and thank you for all the information you are giving!

Moving to Honolulu Hawaii
We are moving to Hawaii with the Air Force, so there's no choice on that one. Are you presently in Hawaii? The way you make it sound is no hospitals are willing to train nurses? Unfortunate. I would be willing to work the floor to get my foot in the door at least. Thanks for the info!

Moving to Honolulu 20 May
Hey Everyone, I am a three year RN and am wanting to get into a trauma ICU or cardiac ICU if I could. My first 6 months experience was on a 32 bed telemetry unit and then after that I've worked for a tiny 25 bed critical access hospital for the last 2+ years in the what they call an ICU. I also float to OB and have experience with laboring patients and newborn care as well. I have certifications in ACLS, PALS, STABLE, FHM, NRP and TNCC. Any thoughts on whether or not it would be difficult for me to land a job? I'm also just a few classes away from my BSN and have the CCRN study book with intentions to get this when I have enough true ICU time. Thanks!! I posted this on a reply to DavidERER, but figured I would throw it out here for suggestions as well. Thanks again!
