Applying for UIC DNP...
Awesome!!! Yeah I'm doing the AGNP acute program though. :) so I talk to lady that does the sens program...I was able to sign up last minute but I'm also won't be able to attend all classes either :/. I asked her about scheduling with advisors and everything. She said we should be receiving an email about our advisors within a month. I thought I was like behind on all that. Well hope to see there!:)

Applying for UIC DNP...
Hey usafran! How are you? What specialty are going into? Were you able to make an appointment with an advisor? If so, do you have any direct contact info because I have been calling every number, either no one answers or I get an automated message. 100% of the time I get no call backs. You are so lucky for doing the sens program. Let me know how it goes. Yeah if you wouldn't mind sharing the notes. It would be much appreciated :) hmmm I wonder if it is too late to sign up still since it doesn't even start till next month. :/

Applying for UIC DNP...
I am the same boat as everyone else. I want to do the sens program but I'd have to move my schedule around last min...it would be a hass. But I do wonder if it would be worth it...has anyone heard of this seminar helping students out at all? I just want to know if it's a pointless seminar. I tried contacting that Cherise lady to see if this class actually meets every tues and Thursday but no call back or email. Speaking of lack of call backs, has anyone made appointment with an advisor yet? I have been contacting graduate admissions to set up an appointment with an advisor and I have been just getting automated messages the past week. it's like no one answers calls at this school. Pretty ridiculous.

DNP student with regrets?
Bigbluemadness....You are so lucky to have it paid for. I am on the same boat whether to go forth for my DNP since I recently got in to a BSN-DNP AGNP program. But I am still unsure to go for it since it will burn my pocket...100k worth. Still trying to figure out if it is worth all the sacrifice. I already still have 60k debt from BSN and then there is this....Also I am not sure if I really want to waste my time for these fluff classes also...However, since your employer is paying for it all. GO FOR IT AND GET IT OUT OF THE WAY. I wish I had that option. I am still getting tuition reinbursement for my BSN loans but even then...if I enroll to this program, I still will have the 100k debt. Not sure my life (money for wedding, family, house) is worth that debt.

Is Becoming A NP Worth It?
I myself is caught in the rut in trying to make the biggest decision of my life. I recently got in UIC's BSN-DNP AGNP program and was planning to turn it down. There was a big pit in stomach when I found out my education would cost $100k and I still have loans of 60k from my BSN degree. So does anyone still think it would be worth it? If I was going to pay 160k to be a NP with a DNP...it makes me feel stupid for not going to med school in the first place with that kind of debt. I chose nursing so I can live life and not have spent all my years in my 20s at school especially with all that debt. I want to make sure I able to afford a family and a house one day instead of struggling. But like everyone, I want autonomy and be able to independently plan their care. I don't know if I should pass this up or just go to a school that's more affordable. Then what are my chances again in getting in a NP school? I just don't want to regret my decision in passing this up. Any suggestions??? is it worth that debt to chose over than life(I.e.wedding, future family, house)? In addition, I also just recently got my CA license so my decision was to just transfer over there and then go to school there but I feel like Id be spending the same for just masters and I feel like I keep delaying my education. I just want to be an NP before 30. Any good advice???

Chamberlain FNP CLINICALS
Thanks for replying scrubbing! So have you ever had them find a clinical preceptor for you? How did that work out? I'm just worried about it because we don't have a lot of nurse practitioners and it's hard to be able to follow our doctors at my work.

Chamberlain FNP CLINICALS
Hi! Is anyone in the Chamberlain FNP online program? How does clinicals work? I keep hearing that we pretty much have to find our own preceptor? But I talk to an academic advisor and she said that if we can't find an preceptor or clinical site, that they will be able to provide us with one? I just want to know which is true....

Applying for UIC DNP...
I agree scarykarrey. I recently got in too and checked out the cost. HOLY COW. I still have loans from my BSN degree 60k and if I end up going to UIC, I would be in 160k in debt. It makes me think-Oh I should of just became a MD with all those loans. UIC is one of the TOP schools nationally for nursing grad school but I might pass too. How would a single person be afford everything else in life if 160k debt is on their shoulders and not even an MD with the MD salary. On top of it, NPs are underpaid . I would be 50 by the time I pay all those loans. Glad I am not the only one that feels this way. I might end up getting my masters online, post NP and then eventually DNP one day. Slowly but surely. Therefore, I can work and enjoy life at the same time. It's such a shame that these schools are asking for so much money especially when there is a demand for advanced practitioners. It's funny because there are alot of people that criticize schools like Chamberlain or what we call "money making schools"...but a good school like UIC is no different in the game. (just my opinions)

Attn current chamberlain students
This post goes out to all Chamberlain students in any campus of the country. Anyone that has a comment on this may comment. I am puzzled on how everything is organized or what to even to do at this point. I would first like to say that I am currently in the Med/surg class NR325 and I took NR324 but did not pass the class. Now please do not judge me stating.."oh well, she didn't study" or "she probably is just dumb". Listen to this first, most of my classmates and I came into that class with a A in the class. When we all took our final, it completely screwed us over. From our class of 106, 90 did not pass the exam (meaning that they did not get the 76% average) and 43 out of that 106 have to retake the course now because we did not meet the 76% avg on all our exams. The class average on that exam was a 63%. The funny thing is that we all came to that final test day with a A over our shoulders and after the final...we now have to retake the course due to one stupid final that 90% did not pass. We spoke with our teachers, counslers, and even the deans. There is absolutely nothing we can do about it. They kind of just threw it at our face that it is all our (us, the students) fault for not passing the exam. Another odd thing is that NR324 (Med/surg 1) is not a preequiste to Nr325(Med/surg 2). So now my classmates and I are all taking NR325, which I think is completely stupid because we didn't even pass NR324. They say NR325 has nothing to do with NR324 but they still refer what we learn now in NR325 from NR324. Now my question is for the other Chamberlain schools out there is WHAT CAN MY CLASS AND I DO ABOUT THIS?!!!Is there anyone HIGHER UP that we can talk to someone with to do something about this?! 43 ppl failing a class at one time and 90 not passing an exam just sounds all wrong to me. It is not completely our fault. all of us feel like they are definitely setting us up to fail. Yes, they do remediation but tell me why that has not been working. We just recently took our midterm for NR325 and the test avg is now 73%?!!!! COMMENTS? SUGGESTIONS?
