New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2
You can already apply for a student visa with just your offer letter. You better do it sooner than later because medicals take time, and you only have roughly a month, they typically recommend at least 8 weeks for a student's visa. I suggest you compile all your needed documents and apply asap. No need to wait for eCoe.

Your IELTS has to be valid by the end of the BP, I suggest re-sit it as to avoid any delays in the future.

Where did you study nursing? For them, initial registration usually means registration where you completed your nursing education.

Bridging Program in Australia
^ You do know that the IELTS exam is judged by international standards following strict guidelines. The fact that his reading and listening scores are near perfect doesn't mean it's easier where he took it. The questionnaire and the answer key remains the same anywhere the test is taken.

Australian wanting to register in State of NY for E3 visa
CVS is Credentials Verification Services. Its done by CGFNS, they basically evaluate your licence, registration, education and credentials and then send it to New York board of nursing. It usually takes around 6 months for them to do their verification. If the BON is satisfied with it,along with your mandatory training, you'll get an eligibility to test, then you register with Pearson Vue to sit NCLEX (which is also offered in Sydney BTW). Re: Lack of hours, you basically have to wait for your CVS to be complete as each set of credentials are assessed on case to case basis.

CES Report Issued
^ No, it simply states the fact that you have not taken the CGFNS exam, and I know of only 2 states that require that exam. Majority of the states only have CES as their requirement. Once they (BON) sees your CES report, they evaluate it and see if it is comparable to US education. I would wait about two weeks and after that, maybe follow up with an email.

New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2
I remember reading something about waiving the x-ray for the medicals If they're pregnant, and being pregnant doesn't pose a risk to other people so she shouldn't have a problem. Although she might want to limit exposure to viruses/hospital exposure during BP early on in her pregnancy right?

NCLEX Boards/INDIA Nursing
OK. First step you have to do is fill out the application form from California Board of Nursing's website: Board of Registered Nursing - Licensure by Examination You're also gonna have to complete the fingerprint card, I'm not sure who does it in India. Possibly the place where you obtain a police clearance. After you get the assessment, (up to 6 months), CA BON will give you an Authorization to Test - a test permit basically. You need this before you will be able to schedule a date for your NCLEX exam. This ATT has an expiration date also. Good luck!

Any Queensland Nurses here?
Hi lithotomy! For IELTS, what I did was: 1. I alloted 1 week for each component of the IELTS exam (1 week for reading, 1 for writing, 1 for speaking and 1 for listening) I used different materials, but the most similar the the IELTS exam is the official IELTS review materials. I also watched the Australia Network's "Study English" DVDs. You don't even have to buy them, If you register in British Council, they have the DVDs which you can watch for free while you are there. They also have the official review materials I was talking about (and a plethora of other materials: books, practice tests, DVDs). They are open from 9AM to 4PM. Their staff are also very friendly, they will assist you with whatever questions you may have. PLUS it's so hot these days, you might as well take advantage of their A/C. Personally, I don't recommend review centers. I think they are a waste of money. I prepared for the IELTS myself and I got great results. But then again, I was confident with my English skills, because we speak English at home and I was a writer back in high school. If you are not so confident with your English skills, I recommend getting a private teacher (even a friend who is good in English) instead. Someone who will be able to check your written work and give you corrections. I don't think they give that much focus to students in review centers because students are admitted in bulk.

To Lithotomy: Take it one step at a time! For IELTS, the best way to prepare is to practice the English language. Listen to native English speakers, and have a conversation with them as well. It will be able to enhance your confidence and make you a more spontaneous speaker. The writing part is where most people seem to have difficulty. Pay attention to spelling, punctuation and sentence and paragraph structure. Good luck!
