  1. Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone had this situation. I applied for my CVS end of January 2011. I am already licensed here in New Jersey and am endorsing my license to New York. All my requirements have been accepted except one. This morning i checked my email from CGFNS stating they have received my transcript from my college. I then went on the CGFNS website to check the status and it says under transcript validation form: "RECEIVED BUT NOT ACCEPTED" I then called CGFNS to ask them what was missing, the guy told me that all the paperwork was filled out, but my official transcript wasn't attached to the documents that my school sent out. Yet, in the email and correspondence, it says that my transcripts have been received. I'm confused now. It has already been 4 months, and I'm not sure if this is a common situation. Has this happened to anyone else? Or maybe CGFNS did not update their information yet. Any suggestions/experiences would be very helpful. Thank you!!!
  2. Hi everyone, I have a quick question. I am currently licensed in New Jersey, and I am endorsing my license to New York, and there is a specific form "form 3: VERIFICATION OF OTHER PROFESSIONAL LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION" Link: http://www.op.nysed.gov/prof/nurse/nurse3.pdf Does this form STILL have to be filled out and sent if I apply for verification Nursys.com? It states: If you are licensed as a nurse in another state, you must provide the New York State Education Department with verification of that licensure. The National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) handles verification of licensure for a majority of states through their Nurse System (Nursys). You can check to see if the state(s) where you are licensed as a nurse participates in Nursys by visiting their Web site at www.nursys.com or by calling them at 1-866-819-1700. If the state(s) where you are licensed as a nurse participates in Nursys, you must request verification of your licensure from Nursys, not the state(s). If your state(s) of licensure does (do) not appear on the Nursys list, you must use the Verification of Other Professional Licensure/Certification form (Form 3) to verify your licensure to New York State. Please note, if you hold any other professional licenses in states other than New York, you must also use Form 3 to verify that licensure to New York State. Sorry, I am just confused, I know that New Jersey is eligible for verification at nursys, but am wondering if I still have to send out Form 3 if I am using nursys for verification. Hope this makes sense..thank you!
  3. def. check out the book by lacharity...it helped me a TON..1300 dollars is way too much for a review, but its up to you..do you have a study partner so you can possibly motivate eachother? kaplan questions are good...good luck :) think positive
  4. brush up topics you aren't familiar with...if you have the lacharity prioritization delegation and assignment book..do a quick run-through of the questions..know your infection control...good luck :) and pray...
  5. oh okay, thanks guys..on the website onlineaha.org, it offered 2 courses, the BLS and then the CPR/AED course..and I was confused because they seemed like the same thing...the reason i am not certified here is because i studied in the philippines and they have a different certificate...so i need to get my BLS certificate here
  6. I am originally from new jersey, but took up nursing in the philippines because of the waiting list over here...we have a CPR certification there, but it isn't the same as here, so I have to do it over again..
  7. Hi everyone, I had just recently passed my nclex-rn, and I was wondering what most hospitals ask for when applying..do they look for the BLS or CPR/AED certificate? I went on the AHA website and saw both courses available, and was wondering which one I should apply for since their course description looks somewhat similar? Is there any advantage over the other? I am also wondering if I should do get my ACLS and PALS, is that a good idea also while looking for a job? Thank you guys!
  8. prioritization delegation and assignment by lacharity..really good book before taking the exam..with 3 weeks left..i would make sure i had all my lab values memorized already..and try to do 200 questions a day..and also brush up on topics that you aren't too clear with...good luck!
  9. I know people that have passed the NCLEX only getting 3-4 SATA, and people that failed that got 10+ SATA...its really random, so anythings possible :)
  10. wow! you seem really prepared, i think thats a great study plan..a combination of hard work and prayers, you cant go wrong! just take your time and be confident! i know you can do it! good luck! :)
  11. i took mine jan 7..got my results after 48 hours..did you get your quick results yet? waht state did you take yours? i felt horrible after my exam thinking i failed...i drove home in the snow, and it sucked..lol and then i did the PVT trick and i kinda had some hope :) then found out i passed..lol..
  12. Hi everyone, I just recently passed my NCLEX-RN, and I applied for New Jersey. My parents are both nurses in new york and would like me to also work in new york. I went on the NY licensure requirements website(NYS Nursing:License Requirements) and it says that I have to apply for CVS from the CGFNS. I had already finished applying for my CES months ago since that was a requirement to be licensed in new jersey to sit for the NCLEX exam. Do i have to resend all my documents to CGFNS for my CVS that came from my school, or will they still have the documents? I'm already back here in new jersey and have no time to go back to the Philippines to do that. Do i still have to apply for the CVS when I had already finished and passed my exam? It says the requirements are: To be licensed as a registered professional nurse in New York State you must: be of good moral character; be at least eighteen years of age; meet education requirements; complete coursework or training in the identification and reporting of child abuse offered by a New York State approved provider; and meet examination requirements. At the end of all the requirements it has this: Nurses Licensed in Another State If you are licensed as a nurse in another state, you must provide the New York State Education Department with verification of that licensure. Is the last step the only thing I have to do? Or do I have to apply on CGFNS again for the CVS. I hope they still have my documents that my school sent them for the CES so i don't have to go back to my school again. Has anyone else been in this situation? I appreciate anyones advice! thank you!
  13. I also went to the philippines to take up nursing, I do honestly believe that people who study sa states have a better education than us when it comes to theory and whats in the text book. Perhaps we have an edge on hospital experience because we have hands on training...I used saunders and did all the questions on the book and CD..lacharity book is a must..and then the day before the exam I used the gapuz nclex in a flash...just focus and dont stop studying..i studied for 2 months straight because i was weak on my content..good luck!
  14. lol, i felt the same way you did..the PVT works! i know youre still not going to feel good even if you get the good pop up! but just relax now, you did it! its gonna feel even better when you get your real results.. :)
  15. do you have an ipod touch? they have great nclex apps that can help prep you while you are on the go..try to keep flash cards around! there are also audio lectures that you can find on the internet..it must be really hard..but you can do it..just believe in yourself :)
