umm I actually did stuff like vital or something but nothing crazy... Yeah they asked clinical questions and stuff like where do you see your self in a year... were you ever a CNA they can pretty much tell by your share day if you like it or not or if you will be a fit for the floor.

took them 1 week to offer me two positions my one recomemdation is to call the person that interviewed you a couple days later to thank them for the experiance and the opportunity. Don't inquire about a decison just say thanks It keeps you in their head I guess

Yes you get paid time and a half and paid holidays or holiday time for that matter but the holiday stuff is complicated I am still trying to figure that out

Hey I just graduated from there and it is no better I must say that a Stressed out student's post summed it all up. You couldn't pay me to to go to there RN-BSN program although the professors that are teaching it are fabulous the administration part( politics) of it is enough to make your eyes go bloodshot. In order to do that program you need to currently work as an RN for I think two years and I think you could go to Umass for better and less. The hell they put us through was almost enough for me to say to hell with this place but after investing soo much time and money I had to finish. For the money you would spend I would say go to Umass or Simmons I know expensive but worth it Really. If I could do it again I would have never gone to that school. Just happy that that place is in my past and I never have to see that place again.

you will get a job it is illegal not to hire someone because they are or may be expecting... at least in MA and in MD it is. Have you considered looking for a job right now that way you will be done with orientation when you are Prego? That why the explanation would be easier on you and by then your benefits would have kicked in and you wouldn't have to worry about the cost of In vitro if that was a concern. The only two Magnet hospitals in MD are JHH and Mt. Sinai.. JHH pays 25.74 and 3.00 diff for nights rotating shifts and they do hire new grads in to the OR Hope it helps

I was in orientation there this weeks and that was not was told to us we (I ) will be able to work my 12 hours shift and that they may change to that later on in the not so far future... They realize by doing that that they will not be able to retain their nurse or have new nurse come to the facility if that is the case... I hope that doesn't happen for I will have to high tail it out of there.

I know what you mean Kharing... I have finally got at car so my commute to Hopkins is 10 minutes or less in the morning still trying to find my way around though haven't really done anything as of yet for the weather was sucky this past weekend and orientation has been kicking my butt still trying to find a hair dresser near by... we will see how it goes

actually I drove and it took me 45 minutes in all for the fingerprinting and filling in all the paperwork for the license I would recommend driving in

is that near where we live? From what I here it is not safe to walk around early mornng and late at night.

Oh I wish I could say I can walk to work I have to commute to John hopkins so I don't know how that is going to work hopefully there is a shuttle near by. Happy to hear that you love the area.

Hey Kharing! We are neighbors that is my crosstreet Paca. How do you like the neighborhood? I am moving in on thursday. I was told to go to Trade Secret that is in the Harborside Galleria but who knows how far down the street that is.

Honey shortage is not even the word!!! I read it was almost 10% I can't believe it but it is something like that .... tell them all to come there are like 5 hospitals in the city alone

i had 2 interviews in the same day and the traffic is bad in the morning... so my day went like this interview at 9am and share time lunch at 1130 ===> 12 meet with nurse recruitment again go over paperwork that whole you have a job routine stuff.nurse recruitment they are nice if possible go with a copy of your official transcript,3 forms of photo id, social security card, passport all that stuff for they need your first born to prove you are who you say you are. then my second interview i was set on the first job. the second was surgical ent trachs i am not a fan:imbar their is visitor parking i dont know the fees for i took the train and then a cab. the nurse managers were great wasn't really an interview just conversation which was cool. both of them were really really nice. you will get the job for the shortage is so bad how can they say no?

Guys have another question where can I find a hair salon downtown that does African American hair?Kind of bummed I have to find a shopping center, hair salon, supermarket etc I mean I am happy about my new place and all but just the starting all over part. Guess it is time to hit google maps :typing

well congrads on the interview! i know firsthand how hard it is to get an interview in ny/nj. being from ny myself i thought that when i finished school in boston i would be able to find a job.... answer was a big fat no! hear are some things to figure out before the interview how are you getting there? i took the train from nyc penn station because i didn't want to do a 3 hour drive for an 8 am interview. are you doing more than one floor the same day? book a hotel as soon a you can if that is the case for i was exhausted after such a long day. i was there from 8- 5:30 pm . and to make matters worse i couldn't get a hotel because the redsox were playing and all of the hotels were booked so i took a late train back. share time was just observation time i did have to bring my own scrubs and shoes for that which was cool and since i had two interviews i didn't have to change back in to my street clothes ( was so grateful for that ) the interview i just told them what i was looking for and i wanted to advance my education and that this is where i wanted to learn and begin my nursing career. that type of stuff . there main moto is education and patient care... it really is a good hospital i mean the patients were happy on all the floors i went to the ratios were 1:2 so the nurses weren't overwhelmed. orientation on the floor i am going to be on is intense, plus the spring program which is a 1 year new grad program all new grads do. they def do prepare you for nursing and whatever you plan to do in your future career. i wanted to go there for they will pay for my education the tuition reimbursement is really really good. plus if i decide to leave i can go anywhere with that on my resume. when i met with the nurse recruiter she pretty much gave me so much paperwork about jhh that it was like i already have the job and it is a matter of when do you start. i mean going over benefits and parking i was like whoa do i have a job? ( in my head i was saying this of course) hope the info helped and hit me up will be glad to give more info oh don't park on the street park in the garage or take a cab do not park on the street!! it is a war zone out there jhh is not responsible for what happens when you park or go off their property

Hi I don't think it will be too hard. I just got a job down there on one of there hem/onc units and there were all so great so just be persistant and they will call you back Good luck!

So I found a place 511 west Pratt . I love to be in the bussle and hussle of things. I mean I lived near Fenway park in Boston so living near the orioles wont be something new. I am so relieved 2 days and 900 miles later I am finally going to be a resident of MD

Thanks for responding I have called Hr and they don't have temp housing but they gave me a list of places to stay. I looked at apts yesterday and hopefully all goes well. They do offer relocation assistance but it is a monetary assistance or I can have them move my stuff for me. I am staying positive and I am not changing my start date thanks for the response:D

I was wondering how long does it take to get a temp license in maryland. Any info would be of assistance because I can't seem to print out or am I able to open the link for the temp license. thank you in advance

Hi guys, graduated May 10th I took my boards Aug 2nd and passed!!! I am going to start September 27th on an Onc unit... Very excited.... and stressed just getting ready to find a place and move from one state to another. Oh orientation is 12 weeks I thing and mentorship is 1 year. Hope I make it there in one piece!

hey, everything is going to be okay i know easier said than done but just do as many questions as you can and know why you got them wrong or right and make sure you rest before taking the exam. try and do the questions when you are most alert and set a scehdule for your self. think postive:wink2: for negative thinking isn't going to help. what floor are you going to start on? i am supposed to start there on the 27 but i am thining of pushing my date back also because i need to find a place and get my temp license:banghead:. hey you are not alone i can email you some stuff i used to help me study pm me wishing you all the best annlise
