  1. i always think that the best way to get a job or at least a job interview is to go to the unit and speak with the manager. be aggressive and confident. go up to the clerk and ask nicely to speak to the manager regarding your application. a face to face is usually whats needed for someone to see who you really are. Since nursing school, i have worked in 3 different hospitals, and all 3 times I walked my application into the manager bypassing HR for some face time. Granted all 3 places spoke to me briefly and instructed me to bring my app to HR, they all had an idea of who i was and what i was about. that helped me get the job quicker than someone who just went through the HR route. then again, that ER manager might just be racist. You never know. Read my blog p1malenurse.blogspot.com
  2. true dat!!
  3. just pray! i bet you did great!!! my thoughts are with you
  4. both of y'all are great!!!!! 2nd time test takers rule!! (im part of this group). We will all make it!!!! just keep yourselves busy till tomorrow morning and...BAM! you'll see your names on that site
  5. i was taught that, when an RN is floated to another unit, they must be given the patient with the most expected outcome (LVN rule) since it isnt their field of experties. I know the psych nurse is an RN, but seriously, what kind of experience would she have with giving blood and observing for s/s of any type of reaction with this patient? especially if she has been out of floor nursing for awhile. i would assign her to the lap chole patient who is to be ambulated. the procedure has expected outcomes that we can anticipate on compared to giving blood. my 2cents
  6. nearest tenths would be: 15.3 hundredths: 15.35 thousandths:15.356 As far as the question stating it, i dont think it does on NCLEX. i took the exam last feb. and dont recall seeing it. i might be wrong though. someone correct me.
  7. i^^isnt the white portion of the egg the protein part?? MATH QUESTION: when doing math on the NCLEX, how do you round up? i know with drips you have to give your answers in whole numbers. now what about the other stuff? do you round up to the tenths, hundredths or thousandths? im asking because when i have been doing my lippincott and kaplan questions i often get confused. someone fill us in on what is the correct way of doing it. thanks and you guys rock!!!
  8. didnt someone in here say that since CA lets test takers take their exam without all their transcripts in yet is the reason why they dont participate in quick results?? i thought i read that here somewhere. hey jon, have any of your friends gotten their results?
  9. im sure you did great!!!! find something to do these next 2 days and keep your mind busy. you got this!!!!
  10. BREATH my friend. how long has it been for you? im probably sure that your assumptions are right. but you're missing the point in everything. the word "Goverment" should tell you that whatever they do, they do it slowly. Just think DMV, social security, county hospitals, etc...
  11. hang in there fellas!!! it aint over till the fat lady sings...or when that fat large envelope arrives. other than that, just keep praying, enjoy life, and...keep praying!!!
  12. count me in on for april. not sure what day yet but im hoping i dont spill into may.
  13. Im back on track right now myself. I have been studying everyday for 2 hours max (dont want to over kill myself) just concentrating on the stuff that i know im weak on (Pharm, cardio, and...oh! Pharm). im hoping to take the test again this April but have not heard back from the Ca BON about my att. my 45 days is up on the 5th of april. how long does it usually take for them to let you retest?
  14. is this program any good? thoughts? personal opinions? i was thinking of signing up for this but am not sure if it will help or not. i did kaplan the first time around and found that to be pretty good but do not want to do it again for the second time.
  15. you know what? i didnt do that the first time around. i am going to check that out. as far as suzannes plan, I am going to try it. i want to know though if anyone did kaplan the first time, and for their second try, still did kaplan and passed.
  16. hang in there jon. i dont think anyone comes out of that dreadful test thinking they did awesome. and if someone tells you they did, they're lying. keep praying and just spend some time with the family. the rest will all fall into place.
  17. Hey everybody. so i failed my 1st time with 265 questions using the Kaplan complete program. my question is, will it be wise to do kaplan again? i feel like that ive seen most of their questions already and will answer a lot of it by memory. the first time i did kaplan, i was scoring in between 60 - 70%. i answered 97% of the qbank questions and all 7 qtrainers with scored around 57 - 65. any ideas? will it still help if i do kaplan again? thanks
  18. well this is how i prepared for my test. i took kaplan, went to all the classess, did 97% of qbank with a commulative score of 62%, did all the q trainers (1 to 7) where i scored around 55% - 68%. but i did qtrainer 7 the night before i took the test which i think added to my stress level. i dont know where to start too. i dont think kaplan would be a good idea to take again because ive seen most of their questions and would only be answering based on familiarity. so if somebody has any suggestions, feel free to let me know.
  19. Hey everybody. so i took the nclex last 21st of feb, took all 265 questions and came out of that test feeling like i failed. 16 days passed and i get the letter of death (the big yellow letter) saying that i was ALMOST close to passing on every damn category. the funny thing about all this is that i knew what killed me that day. MY NERVES!! i prepared really well for that test taking Kaplan and scoring in the mid 60's to sometimes 70's on qbank and qtrainer. my biggest mistake was studying the night before the test. I encourage everyone that hasnt taken the test yet to let it all go a good 2 days before you take it, have some relaxing fun, a good dinner before the test, sleep, and go in there thinking you are going to take 265 questions for 6 hours so if the computer shuts off on you before that you will be surprised. anyway, its back on the saddle for me. Pray for a brother!!!!!:angryfire
  20. Good find. very detailed explanation of the CAT testing c**p. I too am on pins and needles. its day 13 for me and still no results. i did all 265q's. im still holding on to hope.
  21. really?? i thought that if your name wasnt on the bon website within 2 business days that you pretty much failed. unless of course that some type of paperwork is missing for you. how often does that really happen where someone doesnt find out until 4 weeks later. i would really like to hear it from someone who went through that. thanks for the replies. this is killing me!!!
  22. Im out of CA. i didnt know that we could call them to ask if they have sent out any letters. i will try to do that on monday. thanks
  23. Hi yall. i took my test on the 21st of this month and, to this day, im sad to say my name isnt up on the BON website. my question is, how long do they take to send you the dreaded "YOU FAILED" letter?? i know the website says 2 to 4 weeks but is it more 2 or more 4 weeks? sorry for the ranting, im just really stressed out right now. thanks
