  1. So, any update on how things are going in this position? I'm looking to apply for a CC position but I wanted some insight.
  2. My mom's friend worked for them and she left because she said certain things were unethical in her mind.... this was a few years ago mind you and I'm not sure which dept she worked in but she is a nurse.
  3. How is the pay there?
  4. Pretty much. They were doing the bubble study where they purposely inject air bubbles into the IV. They weren't seeing any of the air bubbles getting to the heart so they tried again...they assumed the IV gauge was too small so they put an 18g in my other arm. My arm felt fine earlier today but it's really starting to bother me now. It's about a 2.5x6 inch area taking up most of my bicep.I'm just wondering how long it'll be annoying and hurt to lift things!
  5. Just had an echo with bubble study today. So the doc used two full syringes with bubbles/saline combo before realizing my IV site blew. As the day has gone on my arm is hurting worse and worse from elbow to half was up my upper arm. Rotating it causes really sharp pains as does trying to extend my arm. When I push on the area I hear the popping noises of the bubbles. Anyways...any idea how long it will hurt? How long for the bubbles to be reabsorbed?
  6. What if you placed the end of the cuff at the brachial area?
  7. So do you listen on the ac area or the radial area???? Any updates on this question?
  8. Now I have a hard time trying to listen to the popliteal and foot pulses. Is it easier to use the bell or diaphragm? How hard do you push down?
  9. That hospital compare site was pretty good. I think that was the one I was thinking about.
  10. Are there any websites that allow nurses to rate the hospitals/nursing home that they work in? I think it would be beneficial to see more than just patient satisfaction.... By the way, I know there is a government site set up that shows core measure compliance of hospitals. Does anyone know the website?
  11. I'm on a medical leave right now because I have a problem with my foot, I had surgery and I'm limping now. Case management from home could work for me. How's the pay? What does a case manager for an insurance company actually do?
  12. Quick question. I just had a foot surgery in day surgery today and was only given versed-so no general anesthesia or anything and the surgery lasted about an hour. They put my tele on with my gown still on, laid blankets over me, gave me the versed/O2 and were already starting to lay my hands down on the outstretched arm boards...which would lead me to believe my gown was left on during the procedure...however, my gown was untied when I woke up afterwards. My question is, what my gown removed? Possibly after I was under? Or was it just untied as a precaution in case I became a code? Also, I thought they were supposed to protect skin during OR procedures. I came home with two new bruises on the bony prominences of my elbows. I'm currently just a med/surg nurse and I don't stop with the questions until I find my answers! :chuckle
  13. My all time favorite was a DX of HICCUPS! Patient had hiccups for over a week after an abd surgery so he went to er. No joke this guy had hiccups my whole shift. It actually ended up being a tiny air bubble tickling the base of his diaphragm.
  14. What do you do if you have to give a pt a heparin injection and they have absolutely no fat on their abd. Think of an 80 y/o pt weighing 90lbs.
