Your stats so far are good, I'd just get all the experience you can. I'd also add CCRN to your resume, and take organic chemistry and you should not have any problem getting accepted. Good luck!

The PassCCRN book is great. I found the little white ccrn review book of Gasparis's to be the most helpful, it's short concise and to the point.

Just depends on which program you apply to. If in doubt just contact the program director. But everything else looks great. Good luck

I have an Iphone 3G and love it. Skyscape makes their anesthesia programs available through the skyscape browser. The GPS is great too.

Special31, I tried to pm you back but you're not accepted email/pm's. But I bought a Dell XPS for school and love it. I own 3 three dell's and haven't had any problems out of any of them. If I had the money and time to learn a new computer I probably would have gotten a Mac but the XPS I have works great and is very powerful. Plus it's really lightweight so it will be easy to carry around. Hope this helps, and let me know if you have any other questions. Chris

I forgot to tell you that I got most of the software from Skyscape. Which you access the software through their browser on your iphone. Pretty easy to use.

I installed on my iphone, Handbook of Clinical Anesthesia by Paul Barash, Sota Omoigui's Anesthesia Drugs Handbook, Netter's Anatomy flash cards, and Epocrates.

I'll be starting this fall. So, the time is closing in on me. I went the loan route and have everything set and ready to go. I'll move into my apartment at the first of the month, got a 1br about 5-10min from the school. My family is staying here on the east coast, so I'll be driving back and forth once a week. Also, bought a new laptop and plenty of new medical/anesthesia software for my iphone. So, all that being said I'm ready to get started.

This is off the AACN website regarding ccrn eligiblity "Critical care practice as a registered nurse is required for 1,750 hours in direct bedside care of (adult, neonatal or pediatric) acutely or critically ill patients during the 2-year period preceding date of application, with 875 of those hours accrued in the most recent year preceding application. All 1,750 hours must be in care of same patient population (for example, for the adult CCRN exam, all 1,750 hours must be caring for acutely/critically ill adult patients). Clinical practice hours accrued in an undergraduate student role are NOT acceptable."

:yeah:Transfer to a CVICU. The pt's have a higher turnover rate, get them in and get them out. And they are NPO before surgery, so no poopy and by the time they get better and are able to poop, they transfer to the floor. Plus you get all the invasive line and hemodynamic experience some schools like.
