Am I too old?
Now that is really sad! He had to bring his attorney to fight age discrimination. The director where I am applying said he liked older students so I am just going to have to go with that and trust that I will get a fair shot at 45. Could have applied earlier but didn't want to miss any of my son's life. He is 14 now. dog1

Mountain State University CRNA/SRNAs
I live in SC and was thinking of applying at MSU. I was wondering when some CRNAschool would begin some distance learning courses. They exist in almost every other curriculum and seem to work although I am a little concerned and hesitant with all of the comments about this one. I would appreciate any more comments or suggestions. It just seems to fit my lifestyle a little better...if it is a decent program and if one can get a job easily after passing boards. dog1

Am I too old?
Well....IF I get in for fall 2009, I will be the grand old age of 49 when I graduate. Age is a matter of the mind. If you don't mind, it doesn't matter." Of course my 46 year old body tells me different!:chuckle dog1

Am I too old?
Oh my gosh! You are makingme feel really old! I am 45 and just applying. The program director told me he likes to have older students in the class so I would not worry too much.

SRNA Advice
Well, I did meet with the program director and he said that I would get an interview and the GRE scores are just to get someone in the door for an interview. Then comes the hard part. Evidently the interview is going to be quite rigorous with a lot of clinical questions. Amazing how different programs are! dog

Oh...I don't remember. I took it and have maintained it since 1998.

Advice to apply?
Thanks. I have a mtg with the dept director next week to discuss what else I need. I got a 910 last year on GRE and did not get an intv but know someone who got in with a 970 this year. Once I hear from him what else I need to do, I will make every effort to get there before the intv period in January. He did not seem concerned about a lot of recent bedside experience...as long as I kept at it. Good luck to you too. Where are you applying?

Advice to apply?
Can someone tell me what else would help my chances of getting into CRNA school? Here is what I look like on paper so far: 15 years in critical care (mostly open heart) Remain prn at bedside (regular ICU) but have been in leadership for last 4 years. CCRN TNCC GRE only 1010 GPA from MSN 3.92 in 2007 GPA from BSN 3.90 in 2004 References from CEO, anesthesiologist and clinical mentor/charge nurse during 10 years in open heart Shadowed 2 CRNA's in last 12 months. My biggest concerns are that I am only at bedside prn (although program director said it was enough) and that my GRE is only 1010 (required 1000 at program I am looking at) Any more suggestions? Thanks and congrats to all that began this semester and who have gotten accepted for January 2009. dog1

Thanks for the info and support. Yes, my GPA is from one year ago when I completed a graduate program in nursing administration. I also have CCRN (have kept current in clinical) and have shadowed several CRNA's. My references are from the CEO, an anesthesiologist and a clinical reference. Oh yeah, I did take an organic chemistry course last fall and made an A and thought I would enroll in a anatomy and physiology course before the interview (if I get one) Have been in critical care for 15 years. Any other suggestions or feedback? Thanks...I am more encouraged. Does it sound like I will be compettive? dog

SRNA Advice
I just finally scored over 1000 on the GRE...not by much. Once an interview is granted, does the GRE score come into play again? Does anyone know? I have 13 years in critical care, CCRN and a 3.92 GPA. And I am old...45. :wink2: Thanks, dog

Thanks for the encouragement, but the new was not so good. I rec'd a letter 2 days ago stating that my GRE was too low. I was a little disppointed but as you said, surprised since I have a MSN with a 3.90, 13 years experience and have even been a critical care director. Guess I will take an Algebra class now to try and improve that score or apply elsewhere. dog

Are we talking about the same place...in SC? I ask because the closing of the application period was not until Friday Nov 30. Are you interviewing in January for the fall 2008 start? Congratulations!

Has anyone heard about an interview for MUSC in Charleston, SC? I was hoping to hear before the holidays. If so, I guess I did not get an interview.
