I'm ready to hit the ground running with the LPN-RN bridge program at Excelsior. I completed the Health Safety test about a year ago and then lost the drive to to finish. I am ready now, 2013 is the year I will complete the rest of the classes, with plans to complete FCCA and CPNE next year. I have 7 nursing classes, plus Micro to complete. Currently I'm studying for the LPN to RN transition class. If there is anyone interested in being a study buddy, please send a private message.

You didn't mention how long ago your freshman year was. I think if it has been a while you should probably retake it anyway? Especially before taking other science classes likely required. I say go for it and retake it! I have found it doesn't hurt to read up on a subject before the class starts. I looked over Chemistry before I took the class and found my pre-studying helped quite a bit! I learned the symbols of the elements, learned about bonding, acids and bases... and much of that will be review for you since you have taken Chemistry before. Good Luck!

I'm not sure what a dental nurse is, but if you are interested in becoming a Registered Nurse it requires going to school either in a two year program at a community/technical college or a 4 year college/university. Most nursing programs have quite a few science classes that need to be taken before applying to the nursing program. It is often impossible for a person to actually compete a 2 year nursing degree in only two years. Many nursing schools also require a person to take a certified nursing assistant class before applying for the nursing program also. What state do you live in? Do you know of any college near by that offer degrees in nursing? I'm not sure if this is the information you are looking for about becoming a nurse, but feel free to ask any other questions you have and I'm sure there will be many people here to answer your questions.

If you want to apply to all three schools most likely you will need to complete ALL of the pre-reqs. It's too bad all schools seem to have different pre-reqs!

I don't understand what you meant by this. Even with a C you can retake the class. You can retake any class you want as long as you pay for it. I think you should look at your reasoning behind skipping a final for a class you already had a B in. Are you sure you want to be in school right now? Are you sure you can handle it right now? I agree with a previous poster that teacher was being nice by giving you a C.

congratulations on your baby! how exciting :) have you had any sleep lately? are the days all running together with the nights? i remember those days! i have a nine month old. he has luckily been sleeping through the night since eight weeks old. st paul v.s st kates... huge price difference! personally, i would finish the lpn program and then look for an lpn-bsn program. i know i read about one today that was strictly online.

I am looking at a three year waitlist in New Richmond for their RN, so I am trying to find out if I could get an LPN program done and possibly a bridge program done in less amount of time than I would spend on the waitlist. I'm not sure if River Falls or St Paul is closer to me, but they seem about the same.

Are you currently going there for LPN?

I wasn't sure is St Paul was competitive or waitlist. I couldn't tell from their info listed online.

My husband moved to Minnesota from California. I always have to tease him he doesn't have his "MN Blood" yet. He dresses up like it is the dead of winter when I'm comfortable in a long sleeve tee. It might take some getting used to, but when it comes down to it most people don't spend a lot of time outside in the winter unless they really enjoy winter outdoor sports. We drive from our heated homes in our heated cars, and go to our heated work places, our heated malls (have you been to the MOA?) or heated stores, our heated indoor recreation activities (museums, movies, libraries, amusement park, and whatever else you can think of) and back to our heated homes. Minnesota has lots of schools to choose from for nursing. There is something for everyone here.

Hi, we are looking into moving to the Seattle area. I am wondering if there are any community or technical colleges in the area that have on-site child care?

All of my past jobs have involved working with people who have disabilities, so I will most likely stay in that field. However, I think I might want to explore more options. I think when I finally get to clinicals I will get a better idea of what I want to do. Isn't that one of the great things about nursing? There are so many different options out there!

I think you can get federal student loans no matter what your credit is like, but keep in mind when it comes time to pay them back you cannot get out of them. You won't be able to backruptcy them and they will come after you for payment even if you are out of work. There are options for deferring them for a little while when you are out of school, but as soon as your 6 month grace period is up you have to start paying. I do not mean to imply anything negative towards you. I know good people get in bad situations. As for Bankruptcy. My husband had to file bankruptcy while he was going through a divorce. It took about 2 years for his credit to start looking better, but the record was still on their from the bankruptcy. It was not the end of the world for him. One of the best websites for information on credit is MyFico.com check out the message boards! The people on there really know their stuff! I also use truecredit.com to view our credit reports a few times per year and am constantly disputing everything I can (you do have to pay for it though). AnnualCreditReport.com is the only site you can really get a free credit report from. You can get a free credit report from each of the bureaus one time per year. PM if you have questions or want more info. So if you do file, it's really not the end of the world. But, you will have to work to rebuild your credit.

I have not taken Anatomy ii yet, but I do know if you retake it soon you will still remember a lot of information from the class you just took. Also, if you retake it with the same professor the class will likely be taught in the same way with the same/similar assignments and tests. So, you should try to retake it soon if you can. It will be easier the second time around.

I'm not going to actually get into the nursing program for a few years due to a wait list, so I haven't started to really looking into how I will pay for it. I am paying for the pre-reqs out of pocket .I am planning to save up money, pay off debts, and hopefully pay in cash when the time comes. However, after reading this yesterday I decided to talk to WellsFargo. I scheduled for someone to call me to discuss student loans. I explained my situation to him (I have an AA and a BS and would like to go back for a ADN, and I already owe money to WF for student loans). He said I am viewed no different than any other undergraduate and can borrow more federal loans as an undergraduate. Is this true? I wasn't sure if he knew what he was talking about? He kept asking what grade level I would be counted as. I'm not sure? Are we considered Freshman again? I have 124 credits!

It has been a long time since I took Chemistry, but I have been reading a Chemistry book for the last few weeks. A lot of it is coming back to me and I'm just trying to get the basic concepts down before the actual class starts. I don't want to get too far in depth, before I know what I'll actually need to learn for the class.

I'm in debt from Degree #1 and haven't found a great job to help with that debt! Currently I'm a SAHM, so I'm not looking though. I haven't looked into loans for nursing school, will I really not qualify for anything if I already have a Bachelor's in something else?? shoot! I don't see the point of another BS degree if I can get away with an AS! I agree with that! I wish I would have gone for the nursing degree in the first place, but back then I was working full time and trying to support myself through school. It would be nice to have a place to discuss these issues. There seems to be a lot of us in this situation!

The school I am applying to has a 3 year waiting list, but I was told it probably won't actually take 3 years. At your school, how long were you told the waiting list was vs. how long you actually had to wait to get it?
