  1. If you're concerned about minimum grades to graduate I would suggest you search for another profession. I do not mean to sound harsh, but nursing is not for those who can barely pass.
  2. And you know what happened in California? Many hospitals eliminated PCTs, so nurses were responsible for total care.
  3. Encourage the people around you not to batch patients for admission at shift change, its a pain in the ass for us working on the floor.
  4. St. John is a wonderful place to work, I think. $27.54 at night including differentials. Add another 5% weekend nights. LOTS of opportunity for overtime.
  5. Behavioral interview style questions should be the expected format for most interviews taking place here in the United States. You should come prepared to answer questions in a specific way. SAR = Situation, Action, Result. Explain the situation, explain the actions you took, explain the results.
  6. Sounds like a nightmare to me. Cash only? Can you say no recourse? Not approved for finanical aid? What else are they not approved for?
  7. A great place to look for jobs all over the country is base.google.com. Search using Graduate Nurse.
  8. Hey! I'm a 35 year old white male who is graduating from nursing school in May. I have secured a great job in a Detroit area hospital and am looking for a new roommate to share a townhome in Royal Oak. I have toured a few places and have chosen Amber Square a new development available for leasing sometime in late May early June (i don't have the place yet). You can see view details here http://www.amberapts.com/index/square/Q2.pdf and here http://www.amberapts.com/index/square/square.php3 rent will be approximately $1300 to split + utilities + bi-weekly maid service (no one cleans like their mother did unless you pay for it, including me. :) )The townhomes are modern and have everything. I have some pretty cool furniture for the living and dining areas. More about me: I love to work, laugh, and have fun. I'm very social and do not spend much time at home or watching TV. I also work part-time for an airline and usually travel somewhere on my free flight pass just about every other weekend (There will be opportunities for you to tag along too if you like). I'm also gay, so if that's something that bothers you please keep looking. About you: Employed, responsible, clean, fun, maybe a new RN too? (that would be fun) Male or female. You can have a cat, and be a smoker (outside only). Details: Exchange email, talk on the phone, meet for drinks, meet some of each others friends, call each others previous landlords (sorta like a mutual background check) Must be willing to commit to a 1 year lease and provide 2 months notice at the end if you decide to move out. So if this sounds like something you would like to explore shoot me an email and we'll see where it goes.
  9. I am graduating from an ADN program.
  10. $25.50 +8% night shift diff +5% weekend shift diff
  11. Thanks... Got my first choice, I start right after graduation, this experience has been great!
  12. There are jobs for graduates who are proactive and start looking at the beginning of their last semester. I started looking in January, I graduate in May (ADN program), I have 3 offers and just accepted one of them. I got a highly specialized unit, on the shift I want and an an outstanding starting wage. Go to every RN job fair you find out about. Don't wait. Get business cards, make a spreadsheet, make contacts, phone calls and emails. Its not hard, actually it is fun.
  13. A $20,000 commitment would seem to me, to be an incentive to perhaps be a little more proactive. Did you leave anything out? I would suggest not relying hearsay and call HR and ask about your situation.
  14. How do you know this is economy related?
  15. There seems to be a lot of opportunity. I have several interviews set up with many different hospitals in SE Michigan.
