Oakland University 2nd degree program
Ok that is the pilot program. It eases the load for the first semester. The riverview cohort is always in May. They may offer more there in the near term but right now its the pilot and the May cohort that attends Riverview. The other two cohorts are at Macomb community college on Hall Rd. I do not know if there is space or not. I was in the last one and took a semester off and now start in Jan...All the cohorts have the first semester at riverview because that is where the lab is. It is a really neat lab too!

OU 2nd degree Summer2010
The pilot is a program that OU is trying out to have student due NRS 281 by itself before the program actually starts..It is intense but eases the load when the program starts bigtime! You have a mandatory medical term and math test u have to pass or you fail the program. The orientation will prob be in February for the May 2010 start.

Too many people trying to get an ABSN?
Hi- I also had a bad undergrad grade! It was from 18 years ago! Where are you taking the pre reqs? That makes a huge difference if you take one or two classes. I also have two kids--young! 2 yrs old and 1 yr old. I am at OU's accl program (started in May) and taking a semester off due to some family issues, however will start again in January's program. You need to do well in those classes, however you do not need all A's but you DO NOT want any C's. That drops the gpa bigtime. Yes I did get in the first try, however I am very lucky I did because they changed things since then. Not so sure I would have the first try if applying now because I did get 1 C in the pre reqs from 18 years ago. I also have my MBA and did great, however that is not what they look at except that I did much better when I learned how to study:-)

Wait --huh? Take 281? That is a class in the first semester? To answer your ? they will call you if your gpa is high and a spot becomes available. You do want to make sure they know you are interested. The Riverview campus is right across from Belle Islise and that is a ton closer to where you are then Macomb. Macomb college is at hall road and garfield and that would take you sooo long to get there. The thing that is kindof cool for you tho is that the first semester is usually at riverview because that is where the lab is. It is a very intest 8 weeks for sure!!!

OU 2nd degree Summer2010
Do you start in May? If so yes you will be at riverview and your classes/lab will be there but your clinicals will be at any St. Johns hospital. It is a very intense program and if they offer the pilot and you are asked DO IT!!! It helps a ton when the first semester starts.

Too many people trying to get an ABSN?
Hi- I am in the ABSN program and yes it is competetive, however if you do well in your pre-reqs you will get into a school. There are a ton out there and each look at different things. There is also the ADN programs that once you finish can work and the employer pays for you to go and get the bsn. You have to be focused and you will get in. Lisa

Oakland University 2nd degree program
Firehawk..your classes will be at Macomb Community college on Hall and garfield and your clinicals will be at Beaumont. If you get moved up (and you might) you would be at the riverview cohort and clinicals at St Johns which is much closer to where you are! Hope that helps
