  1. You apply and get in when they have openings. It seems like where the classes are held are really unknown!
  2. I am still unsure where we will meet. I just received an email stating the first 8 weeks at Riverview then at MUC..anyone else hae any ideas???
  3. Hi--is anyone being moved up to start in January? Hold on tight this program is very intense! But you can and will do it --
  4. cd--just to let you know OU's accl program is mainly taught at Riverview (which is farther that UDM --mercy..just to let you know.
  5. Hey- Did you email the director? I emailed the advisor and no response. Please let me know.
  6. Ok wait--you guys are to start May 2010? And are trying to get into Jan 2010? Does anyone know where Jan classes will be held???
  7. Ok that is the pilot program. It eases the load for the first semester. The riverview cohort is always in May. They may offer more there in the near term but right now its the pilot and the May cohort that attends Riverview. The other two cohorts are at Macomb community college on Hall Rd. I do not know if there is space or not. I was in the last one and took a semester off and now start in Jan...All the cohorts have the first semester at riverview because that is where the lab is. It is a really neat lab too!
  8. The pilot is a program that OU is trying out to have student due NRS 281 by itself before the program actually starts..It is intense but eases the load when the program starts bigtime! You have a mandatory medical term and math test u have to pass or you fail the program. The orientation will prob be in February for the May 2010 start.
  9. Hi- I also had a bad undergrad grade! It was from 18 years ago! Where are you taking the pre reqs? That makes a huge difference if you take one or two classes. I also have two kids--young! 2 yrs old and 1 yr old. I am at OU's accl program (started in May) and taking a semester off due to some family issues, however will start again in January's program. You need to do well in those classes, however you do not need all A's but you DO NOT want any C's. That drops the gpa bigtime. Yes I did get in the first try, however I am very lucky I did because they changed things since then. Not so sure I would have the first try if applying now because I did get 1 C in the pre reqs from 18 years ago. I also have my MBA and did great, however that is not what they look at except that I did much better when I learned how to study:-)
  10. Wait --huh? Take 281? That is a class in the first semester? To answer your ? they will call you if your gpa is high and a spot becomes available. You do want to make sure they know you are interested. The Riverview campus is right across from Belle Islise and that is a ton closer to where you are then Macomb. Macomb college is at hall road and garfield and that would take you sooo long to get there. The thing that is kindof cool for you tho is that the first semester is usually at riverview because that is where the lab is. It is a very intest 8 weeks for sure!!!
  11. Do you start in May? If so yes you will be at riverview and your classes/lab will be there but your clinicals will be at any St. Johns hospital. It is a very intense program and if they offer the pilot and you are asked DO IT!!! It helps a ton when the first semester starts.
  12. Hi- I am in the ABSN program and yes it is competetive, however if you do well in your pre-reqs you will get into a school. There are a ton out there and each look at different things. There is also the ADN programs that once you finish can work and the employer pays for you to go and get the bsn. You have to be focused and you will get in. Lisa
  13. Firehawk..your classes will be at Macomb Community college on Hall and garfield and your clinicals will be at Beaumont. If you get moved up (and you might) you would be at the riverview cohort and clinicals at St Johns which is much closer to where you are! Hope that helps
  14. Has anyone found out if they got into the program yet?
  15. Hi, I was wondering if anyone was accepted to the Januray 2010 accelerated program. If so did they advise where the classes are and what the affiliated hospitals are? Thanks! Lisa
  16. Waynestate--thank you. What shoes did you buy? I am considered obese as well. I am a size 16. But I carry it in my leggs. That is why I am worried that they will hurt and not help. I but the nurse mate shoes I believe--the lightweight ones for now. What shoes did you get?
  17. Hi- I was just wondering if any of you wear support socks for nursing clinicals or jobs? If so which ones? And if you on the heavier side I would love to hear about that as well. I am not obese, however I am heavier and am worried about cutting off my circulation instead of helping..lol Lisa
  18. Where can I find them in Michigan? I will check into the insurance thing for sure!
  19. I am not too worried about the money. I just already have bad feet and back issues that I will pay the cash if they work! Does that make sense? I have flat feet and I am on the heavy side and when I am on my feet too long (over 8 hours) I am in pain--feet burn and everything. Thanks!
  20. Hi- I am about to buy my white shoes and was wondering what the most comfortable ones are? They have ti be all white or at least almost all white. Any thoughts? Lisa
  21. Arlaver- WOW that is crazy! No wonder why you had no time. I am planning on spending all day Sunday with my kids. I also hope to put them to bed. That is the minimum I can sacrafice. I know I can do it..I hope! KatyBear--Good luck and you can do it. If I can ( I hope I can)!
  22. Arlevra- How many hours a week did you work? I am hoping to treat this program as a full time job so around 50 hours a week. I hope this is enough? I also wanted to take Sundays off (family day) unless there is a group thing or something. In your opinion is this enough or even realistic? Thanks! SOOO much!
  23. The classes are held at Riverview. The place is really nice and the lab is like 4500 square feet.
  24. I kindof figuared they would be 12 hour clinicals. I think we are moving in with my parents for the year so there is no daycare issue (at least I can hope). I think I would rather the 12 hour ones since the alternative is 3 10's if I remember. I am tying to relax and I started looking at the medical term and math stuff so hopefully I do not spend a ton of time on that. They changed the lab not too. No more Saturdays (for now) and one week you practice and the next you do validations. I need to just take it one day at a time, however I am sooo not made that way:-) I am the true type A personality so if I can get through it and be sain I will be happy. Did you linre of a job yet? I guess with St. Johns it is pretty good that you get hired right then? WHat is your thoughts on that?
