My Tips on Passing the AANP Exam
i wanted to come back to let you know i took the AANP yesterday and passed. I haven't cried like that in a long time. This is what i did to pass the boards: i graduated in May but life got in the way so i had to postpone it till now. I took Leik's review vis webinar mid november, i also listened to Amelie's review for the last two weeks. I did all the questions in the Amelie's qbank and half the questions in Leik's book. On the day of the exam i marked all the questions i wasn't sure 31 of them. I had plenty of time to answer all questions. I felt the majority of my questions were pediatrics. Some were so easy and straight forward that i thought i was getting tricked. I would recommend Leik's review and the book that comes with it, know that like the back of your hand and do the questions! If i did it at 39 weeks pregnant and graduating 6 months ago and ESL you can do it too!

West Coast University?
i just wanted to say congrats to all of you that took the nclex. my husband is starting the lvn to rn on tuesday and i'm going back to work that day too (i'm an er nurse)....thank you for sharing your stories and for showing that there is light at the end of the tunel... my big beef w/ the school was the book situation...that they made him buy the book from school....for the next term we are going to get them from b&n or other places that are cheaper. for those of you who are looking for new grad programs...the economy has hit us too so take the job you're offered and ask more preceptor time. anyone my hubby should be looking out for w/ regards to instructor? he's taking anatomy and math this 1st term and 2nd 10 weeks will be physio.

hurst review
I took the Hurst review two years ago when i graduated hopkins and i am thankfull for it. i have friends who didn't take any review and who took Kaplan. I liked Hurst because of the "review factor". She made it so easy and at the end of 17 months of rn school it was refeshing to see how much i have learned and how clear everything was. the bottom line is that everyone should know that no matter what review you take you will have not come across the type of questions you will find on your exam. don't wait for 3-4 months to take the test. wait no longer than 2 months and don't work. in the end i had $50,000 in student loans and if a class that was 350 would make me pass my exam that's worth the expense.

West Coast University in CA( LVN-RN )
the 67,000 price tab is for the lvn to rn(adn) program. for the bsn program is more than $100,000. you don't need to have prereqs you take the program from start to finish w/ them. someone had this advice w/ whom i agree compleately. do you math, english, chem speech and other classes full time at community college and than go see wc. you would save a lot of money. i know it's hard to get into antomy , physio and micro so that's fine to take it at wc but for the rest go ahead and take it at a community college just make sure they are going to take them.

i have another question for you that are going to WCU. My husband took his nCLEX pn exam two weeks ago....he thinks he failed computer turned off at 85 and about 40 of those questions were on meds he's never heard of...anyway... do any of you know if he can enroll at WCU while still taking classes at a community college? He would take the chemistry and math classes. I know he has to have the LVN licence to attend the lvn to adn program....do you guys know if people have failed w/ 85 questions?

University of Phoenix LPN-BSN
Hi everyone, my husband is 7 weeks away from geting his lvn degree...so i have been lookin at schools for him. Here in CA things are a bit crazy, maybe it's the same way all around the country. it seems that he can't get in any of the anatomy, physio and micro classes so we have been looking all around for schools, even as far as St Kitts Anyway i came across UOP and i have a question for the students in it already. Can he take human growth and development at a community college or does it have to be through uop? We are looking at the AZ and CO uop. I'm an RN already so we can move where ever needed for him. what other classes should he take in order to minimize the General education classes he would have to take w/ uop? (he has intro to psy, intro to sos, developmental psy, history, spanish, english, pol sci,) any help or info is more than welcomed.

West Coast University?
good morning everyone, i just wanted to thank everyone for answering all of my questions from earlier during the week. so we went and met with a admission rep on Tuesday at the Anaheim campus, by the way anyone in here that goes there? I was impressed with the builiding (given that it is new and free parking!!!) and some how with the program too. My fiance liked it too, he is stressed about it because he's hearing from me about all the stress you are going through and that 10 weeks is so SHORT! the thing we didn't like at all is that they are not going to give him credit for speech or math. he took it 10 years ago and got an F (different life different time) and he wants to take it at a community college and get the A but they will not credit it so he has to pay to take speech at WCU. The point i brough up was well you don't give someone credit for a class that's older than 5 years so why do you keep track of time the other way?? also there's an added fee if you choose to take the class online ($150)!!!!! Come on guys!!! it's not all about the money! We wanted to see the total coast of the tuition but she said financial aid will speak w/ us after he takes the HESI....why not before? anyway he's planning on taking the entrance exam in a month and once he passes the boards he's planning on starting in October at the Anaheim one. Where have you had your clinical if you go to the Orange County campus? thank you for all your valuable info...

West Coast University?
I wanted to tell you:bowingpur (thank you) for all the information you gave me. We are meeting with them today so i feel we are prepare when they are going to paint us the great picture that this school is... i read this and it raised a big read sign: "This is why the school uses HESI, and the reason for increasing the passing rate from 690 to 760 is because the school wants to have an accreditations to match the standard of UCLA" The school is not accreditated???? so if i finish this and get my job it wont count if i want to go RN to BSN through my job??? the other school we're looking at is the International University of Nursing on St Kitts (two semesters there and than you move back to US for 3 more either in KY, OK, FL, AZ, NJ)...we'll see thank you so much for the heads up w/ the GPA thing of 2.5. are you at the LA or Anaheim school? (we're going to look at anaheim....the truth is i'm an RN already and my future husband is the LVN, but I decided i wanted to do the leg work to find out about the schools and than share w/ him) we're not planning on having any babies right now ... it would be way too much stress on what we want to do!!!

UCI Medical vs. Hoag?
hi, i work at hoag, but i went to school at JH in Baltimore. Hoag is not a teaching hospital. UCI is the only big teaching hospital for Orange County. Since you're coming from TN why don't you try UCLA or USC? Is your :redbeathe set on Orange County? look at UCSF and Standford. I refuse to work at any UC as of right now because i don't feel like paying extra money for parking and monthly union dues, but that's just me...i went to a UC school for undergrad and i feel i've paid enought for parking...sorry for the blah blah blah Hoag defenatly had the reputation of Hotel Hoag and the views are amazing from pt's rooms....all you see if ocean...in OR and ER not so much, but nurses do love their pts and trully all of them show great care for each pt. i know if i ever got sick i would choose Hoag over Uci due to nursing care hope this helps

West Coast University?
thank you for getting back to me with all this good info. i wanted to talk to an counselor today but nobody was available. i have more questions: could you tell me more about HESI and ATi. What happens if you don't pass it? By reading the board somone was saying you have 2 opportunities and the scoare has to be at least 760. If you have english, speech, psy, soc, math life span and chem done do you know how much tuition would be? Since you have those done how long would the program be than? I would need Anatomy, Physio, Micro, Transition to LVN and than the RN classes. where are you guys doing the clinicals for semester 6,7,8? do you do one care plan per class considering they are 10 weeks long? any other advice? i'm looking into starting Oct after wedding and honeymoon...hahaha
