  1. Hi. Just wanted to know what the % is of first and second time attempts on the Nclex for BSN prepared nurses. Most everyone I graduated with passed the first time and the rest on the second attempt. I have not heard of any BSN-RN's failing more than 2x though. Just curious.
  2. They are probably pursuing a Masters in health administration or public health. Did you forget about Nurse Practitioners, Clinical Nurse Specialists and CRNA's? I know I had a great deal of clinical experience in my CRNA program and a good friend of mine with her NP clinicals. I am sure they are focusing on the their managerial skills. In my case, the alphabet soup I have behind my name equaled a significant advance of my clinical skills and a 250% increase in my pay scale. Enjoy your retirement! You should go for your BSN or MSN while you are retiring and then come back to join us in management!!
  3. BSN. My place of unemployment only hires BSN because it is any ivy league university hospital and they have very high standards. They only want the best of the best. Even with the BSN there is fierce competition. Even smaller community hospitals would take a BSN first over a diploma because we are more well rounded and educated. Good luck!
  4. BSN....without a doubt. Don't waste your time with a diploma. Diplomas are not looked upon highly.
  5. I agree that schooling was difficult, as with any profession. To be honest with you if you are referring it to the fires of hell then I probably wouldn't want you pushing my digoxin or amiodarone. I guess that is why the ivy league university hospital I am employed at requires RN's to be Bachelors prepared. It is pretty scary to see some of the nurses the ADN's push out. BSN/RN will have left the bedside to either to pursue a masters/PhD and/or managerial/executive position. I know I do not plan on being at the bedside for much longer. There are too many opportunities out there to sit and watch it pass on by. I guess if you want to make a fair wage with only two years of schooling and work at the bedside for your entire career then ADN is the way to go. I guess there wouldn't be any bedside nurses if there were not any ADN programs.
  6. RN=RN BSN=BSN and RN/BSN=additional two years of college, more advanced nursing courses, opportunities for managerial and administrative positions, the option to obtain your masters/PhD, and overall more money and respect!!
  7. grad school for CRNA, cooking, fishing, movies, hanging out with the lady, gym, schoolwork, surfing the web and posting comments on sites like this:)
  8. ICU/CCU....In masters program for CRNA...i figured most men were in critical care.
  9. Taking the boards does not substitute 2 additional years of schooling in the liberal arts and more advanced nursing courses in a bachelor of science in nursing degree. The bachelor degree is science based with focus on educating its students, not focusing on all of the schooling time toward clinical skills. Although this is important, more and more hospitals are offering graduate nurse residencies, which should also be mandatory. I have a different point of view coming from a ivy league teaching hospital where all RN's on critical care floors must have their BSN's to be employed there. I think it should be necessary one day for all RN's to have their BSN's to provide a more educated approach and superior critical thinking skills to care for their patients.

  12. i feel the same way.....i just finished my KAPLAN review tonight....I am not sure how much it helped????? I am thinking I will review content for the next week or so and take it next Friday. I feel pretty confident. I wonder how much harder Kaplan makes their questions during the review course in relation to the NCLEX?
  13. Hello all!! I am a recent graduate with my BSN and I am preparing to take the NCLEX. I have just received my ATT and temporary license. Tonight was the last night of the KAPLAN review, which I feel did not help very much....what a waste of money:( SO, now what?? I have to do some more content review and then give it a whirl....I am just so scarrreedd to take the NCLEX. Is it really that bad?? I am looking for some input from recent grads
